You just said what I’ve always found so hard to express because it feels like such a disrespect to the wonderful owner and their animal. Whenever I see videos like this, my thought is just always “I wish all animals can experience the same love, joy and happiness”. I have pets myself and whenever I cuddle with them I can’t help but think about all the strays, neglected, abused and abandoned animals and how I wish they too can experience even just a fraction of care and love in their lifetime.

Nice seeing a mink actually having a good life. Because of the pandemic they actually shut down the entire mink industry in my country which i'm very happy about. No more torturing little minks. Hopefully it will stay shut down.

Many decades ago, there was a mink farm near the river in the city where I live. The farm is long gone, but some mink escaped or were released in the river. Now, when people float down the river in the summer, they are "attacked" by the mink. They don't realized that the mink are curious and are actually playing with them. I am so glad that mink is no longer the fashion statement it used to be. Nico is adorable.

They're all part of the same family too, Mustelidae. That includes minks, ferrets, otters, badgers, wolverines and martens.

I'd say minks have a rounder head with smaller eyes and ears than ferrets, and I think minks are bigger. otters have shorter less floofy fur. minks have been bred for different colours, I think there are ones as dark as otters, but when they're this light, they're definitely not otters. well, sea otters have light fur or get light fur when they're old, but those are HUGE, I think they can grow as heavy as a german shepherd.

I agree with this somewhat because I think the way farmed fur animals are treated is horrible but I wear the fur of animals I’ve trapped or hunted. But at least the animals I trap are invasive and ruin the environment so turning them into fur gives them a second life that won’t destroy the environment.

While I agree that it we should not farm animals for fur, it is a terrible thing to let a lot of them out into nature. Someone did it a few times where I live, and 1500 minks in a relatively small area will absolutely wreck it. I remember a newsstory with a forest manager/nature guide of the nearby forest, and he was so close to tears saying: "There is just this eery silence left. No birds, no animals, not even any insects". And they estimated that 98,5% of the minks then died of cold and starvation the following winter, because they didn't know how to handle it. 😭

I would love to shut down the mink farms. I was educated on how they skin these wonderful creatures alive for fur coats because it keep the quality better. They break all their bones and rip off their skins then leave them to suffocate from internal bleeding in a big mass pile. We need more animal advocates to educate people on Minks. Personally, I don't see a moral difference between killing an animal and wearing its skin, or killing animals while growing and harvesting the crop that you turn into clothing.
