Thank you to those of you who have reached out with questions - we appreciate your concern for these big cats! Safe Haven is accredited by the Global Federation of Animal Sanctuaries. GFAS does regular inspections of accredited facilities to ensure these standards are being maintained. Safe Haven is one of only 7 big cat sanctuaries in the US to achieve this distinction When this video was created, the Safe Haven Wildlife Sanctuary was newly developed and grass was just beginning to grow! Check out this photo of Carli enjoying laying in the grass! facebook.com/safehavenwildlife/photos/a.640554762643220/2170801799618501/?type=3&theater It is important for most sanctuaries to keep the grass short, as long grass can harbor ticks and possible lethal diseases to big cats like Bobcat Fever. Due to human greed for money or misunderstanding, these big cats were put into situations that require them to have human care for the rest of their lives. Luckily, these big cats have a safe, happy and healthy home at Safe Haven. Please visit Safe Haven's Facebook page if you would like to see updates on how these big cats are thriving - facebook.com/safehavenwildlife If you have additional inquiries, please don’t hesitate to reach out to our supporter team - available at info@ifaw.org. Thank you all for your compassion toward animals.

Do they have trees?? Do they have long grass to hide in? If no, then its a very bad environment for a JUNGLE animal. They live in forests, that's what they need to feel safe, not an artificial tin hut. If you want to keep animals in that environment go get some reptiles.

This place is awful and I suspect it won't last long. I only hope it's not a case of it existing for the sole purpose of fund raising. Those animals don't belong in 120 degree heat. I asked about that and the rep told me that they have shelters to keep them "cool", as though one can stay cool in that type of heat just by going into the shade. And, that water will overheat and evaporate daily. What a bunch of ignorant clowns. Frankly, it pisses me off.

paul cooper so did she say something wrong? Are you an expert? I'm not, I'll get that out of the way right now, but putting curtains over cages tends to pacify an animal. I would also like to point out that was kind of a botched improvement. It was an improvement, but they still can't swim or dive down-tigers like to do both of those activities. They should've made it twice the diameter and twice the depth. I couldn't afford it, but I also don't rescue tigers either.

Trees don't survive in the desert. That's why it's a desert. The native animals that manage to survive there have evolved over thousands of years to tolerate the heat. It is beyond me how they can put animals in a harsh environment that reaches 120 degrees and have them living on hot rocks. It may be bigger than where they came from, but it must be a living hell.

This place is totally inaccurate and just as bad as the last one that's stupid structure in the middle provides no shade the sun can get right in there from every angle that is not going to be enough shade for them they will be literally baked alive!!!! These fleeting moments of pleasure is all they're going to enjoy because they won't even be able to Payson there because the ground will be so hot they won't be able to Pace or walk on the hard hot ground they need to have vegetation they need to have adequate shade or canopy over the entire shelter and they need some vegetation and they need to build structures that actually provide full shade at least in New York they weren't going to be baked alive in the middle of the desert exposed to Sun 100% of the time and that pool has no shade it should have shade or that water is going to be just as hot as it was in the aluminum pool seriously these ladies don't know what they're doing they are literally baking the tigers alive Siberian tigers should be in an area where it's going to be cool and snowy for at least part of the year and they have some trees and vegetation!!! I hope these ladies eventually see how irresponsible and cruel they are being placing the Tigers in this supposedly shelter I would be embarrassed if I was them

Zoos and circuses are completely different things. Yes, there are some zoos with terrible conditions, but in general - zoos are necessary for survival of endangered species. Our "higher species" can wipe out all endangered species if they are only left to themselves. Circuses treat animals badly, they don't do anything for their survival, they aren't even educational (seeing a tiger jump through a hoop won't teach children anything about tiger's real life) and generally only those artists who perform out of their free will (humans) should perform in circuses. But I don't think the same kind of criticism can be justly applied to zoos as well.
@manos37907 жыл бұрын
Run Da Trap Certain politicians could live in a circus (The clowns) And the animal politicians, should be kept in zoos 😉👏👍

There's a zoo in my city. There are the tigers in the zoo. And the tigers zone in the zoo looks MUCH better than this. So it's beautiful to see tiger in a almost empty, dry, hot cage with a cement hole, and it's terrible to see tiger in much bigger green space with trees, bushes and rocks, because it's in the zoo and the zoo is a bad thing. Flawless logic.

This shelter is going to be just as bad in that constant heat, no trees, vegetation and that canopy is not going time provide enough shade at all!!! I hope they build more shade features. Also still not enough room for them. That ground will be so hot and hard for them to even get exercise from pacing. These are Tigers used to cold snowy climates. At least in New York they weren't being baked alive! Bring them somewhere else please!!!
@alekm8044 жыл бұрын
just wanted to say, if a tiger is pacing back and forth, this is an stereotypical behaviour. I know how it sounds but its BAD. Its when an animal does a cycle of the same movements/motions due to boredom and lack of enrichment. this can happen in any animal if conditions aren't met (eg horses due crib biting, and most others do swaying or head bobbing). so if you do see that... it shows how badly their environment or even care for them is

Jemina Rantanen huh? Of course they're going to need to be contained, you can't have tigers roaming free

im sure they would be overjoyed should you offter to pay for the 10 gallons of water each tree needs every day to live!

That environment is not good for tigers. It's far too hot, and has no cover, no plants, no trees. Frankly it looks like tiger hell.

Hi Christian, we greatly appreciate your concern for these tigers. Tigers live in a wide range of habitats, from rainforest to dry deciduous forest to the open savanna, and are adapted to live in a wide range of climates. In short, captive tigers can be comfortable in almost any climate given the proper housing and care. Safe Haven cares deeply for the comfort of their residents and has provided pools, shade structures, and even some trees in and around their big cat enclosures. If you'd like more information, please see our pinned comment and be sure to visit Safe Haven's Facebook page for updates on the cats: facebook.com/safehavenwildlife/.
