When a large field of milkweed was going to be bulldozed he organized a group of men to help transplant as many milkweed plants as possible. We had a large patch on our property and the Monarch butterfly's came laying hundreds of eggs. When they were in the chrysalis stage by father built a large screen cage around them to protect them. My parents would invite other child in our town to watch the Monach butterfly's being released & flying away. (My siblings and I counted the first time 102 Chrysalises.) Every year they came back to my Dad's milkweed patch and still do.

I believe I have missed my calling. At 56 years old it finally occurred to me that I wish I could be a rescuer of needy and helpless critters. I have wasted my life trying to help people. Most all are not grateful and continue to live precariously. When I have rescued cats or dogs, they thrived and are very grateful. The love is so rewarding. I just wish people could feel the same.
