A great experience for the homeowner and I am so glad that this has inspired Larry to start keeping bees, he said he will keep one box, we all start out thinking like that but we end up having to keep at least three boxes to manage the swarms and make splits, this year I made lots of Nucs and packages for the new members of my bee club and people who were unfortunate in losing some colonies, this was the first time I did this as I have enough colonies now and they keep me super busy!

I've been keeping bees for about five years now. I got into the hobby after getting hooked on Randy's videos which soon after led me to following you as well as other utubers. It started off with me finding an open air colony three feet off the ground hanging off from where two fallen ironwood trees crossed each other. I did research, spent about a grand getting set up with eqpt, and he homed them. Unfortunately, after filling out two ten frame langstroth hives they turned out to be a.h.b. I took 40 stings one day though my suit and I took off in my golf cart to my barn 500 yards away and took off my suit and left it on the cart to go in the house for a tea break. 15 minutes later I went out and there was about 30-35000 bees trying to murder my suit. I put on a different suit and walked out to the colony and found the queen and gave her the hive tool test (mashed her). I tried to requeen twice but they wouldn't accept a new queen. They would ball the queen cage, chew out the plug, and kill the queen. I asked Julie Norman with winding creek apiary about it later and she thinks the colony might have been in a transition and had two queens at the time and I just picked the exact wrong time to be messing with them. I've got nine strong colonies of really sweet bees now, the queens are all from Julie's place and she gets them from Don the fat bee man (sweet as peaches bees he calls them). Do you ever have to requeen or destroy a hive due to bad genetics making hostile hives there in Louisiana? I occasionally do cut outs for my job and our customers ( three or four a year ). One of the first ones I did is at a property that has old grain silos and warehouses. The owner had me set them up on his property and pays me to bring him the bees from cut outs. He keeps new eqpt there for me and I just swap out the full hives with the new eqpt and he cuts me a check, it's a pretty sweet deal. He gave me the code to the properties gate so I can do it on weekends when I'm off work. Love all that you do! May God continue to bless you and yours!

I on't know how I found y'all, but I'm sure glad I did !! I feel so sorry for what I did about 15 years ago. My pest control showed me that I had bees around my shed and asked me if I wanted to get rid of them, I saw yes...those poor bees :( . I just finished felling the last piece of a rotten tree that had bees in it. A beekeeper took most of the bees and two weeks later there were still some bees left. They will will likely be gone in a few days.

There will very often have bees flying around a tree that once had bees in it for a week or so as the smell of honey and comb are still fresh, but as the smell weakens, less and less bees show up until finally, no bees at all. Even though the comb was wet, it is still better to get it out as much intact as possible. Scooping it out would only make the situation messier as there would be honey everywhere. Is the comb damaged at all from the fall? I’m imagining the comb bursting when it hits the ground. Or is the damage just from the chain saw? I’m assuming all the honey will be fed back to the bees? Thanks for showing us this recovery.

When the tree hits the ground, the impact jars the comb lose from the inside of the tree and opens cells releasing honey and crushing bees, a very messy situation which is why action is required ASAP. Yes, the honey was crushed and strained and is now being fed back to the bees. Where do the bees go after vacuuming?

Very often in my videos I show the release of the bees that were vacuumed back onto their comb and are rejoined to the colony, this time I did not. To be sure, the bees that were vacuumed are safe and healthy. When you're going to speed up the footage, such as when you're vacuuming bees, please put the camera on a tripod? I want to keep watching but all the sped-up movement is giving me a headache...

In situations like this, are you able to keep the honey from this hive or do you feed it all back to your bees? Also is the wax usable? Meaning can you melt it like regular box hive's wax?

Both the honey and wax are useable. The honey was given back to the bees, and the wax was rendered down and will be used shortly to be place on our foundations. Thanks for watching. God's peace. Mr. Ed
