It's interesting that Revelations wasn't the first handheld Resident Evil spinoff that took place on an overrun ship. And now that I think about it, Revelations 2 is a game where you play as one of the RE2 protagonists and Barry, who meets a mysterious little girl who turns out to be connected to the outbreak. In fact, I think it's the only other game where you play as Barry. I guess the Revelations games are basically, "What if Gaiden, but good?"

I always took the Revelation games as having some influence from this game. This was a huge milestone for the GBC, really impressive even if it came late into its lifecycle. There's also something to be said about this game being the closest game to Sweet Home, the original inspiration for Resident Evil. This should have been called Sweet Home 2.

I actually remember this game, it was one of the first I had as a kid on gameboy colour. Might be rose tinted glasses but it was fresh compared to a lot of the games out on GBC, even as an 11 year old I had no problem grasping the mechanics even if the story was a little hard to understand. The games not a bad introduction to resident evil, and was the reason I played resident evil 4. It's a solid game and although it hasn't aged well at the time it was hard to fault.

I wonder if Gaiden wasn't at least partially responsible for inspiring the boat portions of Resident Evil Revelations. I mean, the story is very different (focusing on Chris and Jill, for starters), but the atmosphere is there. Well, for the parts on the ship anyway.

I think changing the combat system is a good way to make the game decent. Keep it first person but add a dodging and manual aiming system.

An RE4-RE6-plus-Revelations era camera (if they can pull something similar to RE 3.5's above the head angle, that works too) plus a switch to first person view with manual crosshair aiming is how I see this if remade. The music needs to be instill the same feeling of fear as well with it's notes (reminds me of how 80s synth keyboards or organs can make me feel tension and stress) so I hope the OST is remixed as such.

Started playing this a few weeks ago, love the first person battles. The enemies look like they are dancing, makes me think of the monster mash, as it was indeed a graveyard smash. Great video mate, love your stuff

Also I REALLY like ships and train levels because you really feel that you are trapped. Sure buildings are fine and all but if you think about this you can escape via doors or windows. But ships? Where you can escape? Moving trains? The same.

Gaidan is a game that always frustrates me because it's so close to being something really special; I think Capcom could've made good use of their time remaking it for the DS in the same vein as Deadly Silence. Give it some voice acting but model the combat on the first person bits of that game, and I think it could've been great.

Not much of a Resident Evil fan (and any attempt to play any of it ends in disaster), but I found this game always interesting, due to its attempt to "convert" a Playstation series to something that works better on lesser hardware and gives it rather unique gameplay in the process. It's similar to my fondness for Dynasty Warriors Advance (the first DW I ever played, even), which is pretty different from the main games, but works pretty well.

Thought the game looked weird when I first saw it on a shelf in WHSmith as a kid. Still, kudos to it for trying something else with the gameplay instead of forcing something that just doesn't fit like the original RE game on Gameboy Colour. It's why I didn't mind Killzone Liberation as an isometric shooter on PSP. I also don't mind the theory of fake Leon as I've disliked him as a character since RE4 where he, to me, just never really felt like a natural evolution of his personality from RE2. Then again, neither did the gameplay.

Sometimes it makes sense to have to Gaiden term in the game, like this one, other times it doesn't, for example, Ninja Gaiden, that's just the name of the game, both the original and rebooted versions, the rebooted series at least had some ties with Dead Or Alive, ut that version was so kick ass we didn't knowtise!

I briefly played this game as a kid, but was way too stupid to understand it. A few years ago I watched this video and remembered it. A few months ago I decided to finally play it again. And now I came back to this video. It's come full circle. I think you've been unfair to the game. It's not stingy with resources, I think. At first I also struggled, but then I restarted and it was much easier. Towards the end I had 99 bullets in the gun and about 10 green and yellow herbs each. If you're careful, you can have more resources than you need. 11:45 The red exclamation mark tells you if the enemy has an item, so if you waste your resources on pointless enemies, it's your fault. There's really only one thing wrong with the game, I think, and that's the save deletion glitch that I just had the pleasure of encountering.

Honestly I played this game solely because Leon Kennedy was in it, and it wasn't that bad, but the b.o.w fight in the engine room was really trolly, in my opinion at least. I died over and over even tho I blasted two-three rockets in its face, along with shotgun and lots handgun shots. I didn't bother anymore and looked up the ending, which made me really disappointed. *Spoiler!* The thought of the real Leon dying on the ship and replaced him with the monster, that's a big no from me. Also this will most likely never happen, but it had been fun with a remake of this, with a canon ending

you are playing this game wrong, you should have tried to sneak pass every enemies, this is why you are out of resources, because if they grab you, you are at a range disadvantage and will die very easily, just because they hit so hard and call their friend to gang up on you. this game should be played like a normal resi game, which means that you have to strategically initiate fights and kill enemies to open up a path, and some fallen bodies will actually give you ammo back. use your pistol smartly by positioning the enemy hit zone near the side of the screen and you will have a very hard chance to miss, therefore yo uwill kill them before they can reach you. in my 1st unguided play through i had so much high power ammo when i reach my end game, and the tyrant was actually a breeze. even though i had no idea where to go and wondered around for hours in the early part of the game.

I like watching this and I didn't even have a Gameboy Color. I guess it means your channel is good. Could show old Sony hardware some love though. Also old computer architectures that don't exist anymore, like Commodore and Amiga but also those strange Japanese ones like PC-98. There's tons of stuff to cover if you're out of ideas.

I have played this game before, never manage to finish it. For me the game didn't explain at all what to do next, or were to use some items, at the end i got lost, with no ammo and no health... i think that my progress was like 5 to 10% which is nothing, visually i like it, but the game design was awful.

Personally i think this game is great. I find the Gameboy Color to be rather the ignored middle child of the Gameboy family. Still use my (reshelled) GBC to this day.

I think that they should have just done a resident evil port to the gb. The Rom looks really good and I would have played it. It wouldn't have been as good as the ps1 version of course but I still would've played it.

In terms of making it cannon is there any chance that the Leon you played as in this game (this one game) was a bioweapon (for whatever reason. This explanation isn’t great it just makes more sense with the rest of the games) and this story itself is self contained and Barry’s interactions wit Leon here were actually with a fake Leon. Then the Leon in the rest of the series is the real guy? Just an idea. Not sure how it would all be wrapped up
