Yes, the artist ink makes it more opaque. The fabric dyes work very well in resin, but it is kind of translucent. So if you add some white, it makes it more opaque, but it does change the color a bit. It's all about finding what you like And it DOES kind of remind me of water marbling now that you say so!

@quintabaybe It's a lot of fun and the possibilities of how many colors and the different colors you use...could make a lot of different neat effects.

thank you very much for this video i saw the one with written instructions and am very happy to see it in action. i just have one question. the jewelry or what ever you are making the the video looks very thin. now would it be the same exact process when doing something two or three times thicker or would i be better off doing what you did then adding the rest (to make it thicker) after the resin has "gelled".

what a cool effect. I wondered what the fabric dye would look like in resin, does the artist ink make it more opaque is that why you add it?...thanks for posting! Kinda reminds me of water marbling.
@JennLonhon11 жыл бұрын
Have you tried doing it with nail polish? You have to work faster but it works and its easier than mixing fabric dye
@silvermckenzie10 жыл бұрын
now that would be great for making dice jewelry

Can't you just use a heat source like a blow torch over the top of the resin to remove bubble?

FYI - Resin and Epoxy are the same thing. Depending on where you are shopping, this knowledge can be very helpful. Also some resins turn white as they cure, personally I don't use these. I much prefer resin that cures clear.

I tried this with my charms earlier; and after about an hour I noticed that the pattern deteriorated in the resin (looks like it's...almost crumbling. it's strange) and the green colour I had has turned yellow. I was using blue and green food dye with a little bit of white ink in the mixes of both to made them a little brighter, the blue hasn't changed colour but it seems to have deteriorated,
@nathaliejones28438 жыл бұрын
this is because a lot of food dyes don't work with resin, a good rule of thumb is that if it uses any chemicals, don't use it in resin. I suggest pigments like mica, or use some Dr Bombay Indian ink. that's what I use anyway.

@patricial.67587 жыл бұрын
in the US, at craft stores like Joann's, Michaels or Hobby Lobby or DIY like Home Depot, Lowe's. Even Walmart has it to be ordered, just don't carry at local store. Home Depot gives twice as much for the same price as craft store versions. Don't forget it's a two part mixing, must by Part A and Part B (catalyst or hardener) or by as a kit.
