I have been trying to do pulls ups for a while now. I a good day In a good day can do maximum 5 with an ok form and not hanging, and 3 with very good form/hanging at the end of each rep. I think my weak point is more shoulders than the back. I was not progressing at all. Is bands a good idea? What resistance would you think it is adequated. I weight 74 kilos?

I am leaving this comment here so I am accountable! I bought a pull up bar and a resistance band. I find the knee ones a bit too tough but foot ones work well. I am doing 3x8 reps which I can just about manage. Going to track my progress and update this comment on 14th November [when I go on holiday] If I can do 5 good form non-assisted pull ups by then I will be satisfied.

How much does the band "take off" your weight? Like the machine you determine how much weight to take off. Does the band take off from your weight the higher number or the lower number for the resistance rating?
@abhishh_ek
@abhishh_ek 2 жыл бұрын
It starts from the lower number and the assistance increases as it gets stretched. So keeping at your knees will give about half the assistance than at the feet as shown in the video.
@numbat0072

i MUST be missing sumthing , but wudn't it be a truer indication of your real strength just to do fewer pull-ups with no R'band assistance ? it's all about simple muscle exertion via resistance after all .
@abhishh_ek
@abhishh_ek 2 жыл бұрын
@@numbat0072 many people can't do pull-ups at all. So resistance bands help them to progressively overload and improve strength. Besides, even if one can do 4-5 pull-ups, it's not the most effective for muscle building.. 8-12 reps is a good number for muscle building and for that purpose people can use resistance bands, while also increasing their strength gradually.

Do you think that these elastics can get stretched out if a heavy person uses them? I have been using the purple and it takes 25 pounds off me they said but my husband has started to use it and I feel like I have to work much harder to pull myself up. Do I need to buy another one? +White Lion Athletics that is a great variation. The issue with bands is that sometimes you have to find a weight that is just a little above or below which you have set for bands so combining it heavier and lighter weight is a great way to get the assistance that you are looking for! Hi Rohan, The bands in this video are circular so those allow you tie them or loop them to the anchor point you are using. The ones with the handles cannot do this. The bands in this video also offer higher levels of resistance than bands with handles. The bands in this video are providing for 100lbs of assistance when fully stretched out. If you would like more information about the resistance levels on these bands, please visit www.whitelionathletics.com . The resistances are stated there. I bought this to replace a very similar item whose foam grips had worn after years of use. kzbin.infoUgkxwyoGHi-cCLV1AqJYj7QeIWKSpdRMYPF1 This one is is even slightly better than the old one I had! (Sorry I don't remember the brand or model.) This bar sits a bit higher in the doorway, giving me more ground clearance for movement, and the foam grips and foam pads that protect the doorway are thicker. It was also very quick and easy to assemble. The only minor gripe I have is that the hand grips in the middle are really tight on the bar, and therefore hard to slide along the bar if you want a wider or narrower grip. You have to be patient and gradually work them into the position you want.

which colour band for 65kg?
@goldo1107
@goldo1107 6 жыл бұрын
You wanna use the purple band to start out with for a few 2 to 4 weeks which is the 40 to 80lbs of resistance. After that you will wanna graduate down to the black one with is 30 to 60lbs of resistance for 2 weeks. Then after that you will want to go down to the red one which is 10 to 35lbs of resistance. Do that one for as long as you need to and test to see how many pullups you can do on your own. You can do some on your own and when you feel like you wanna finish the set you can put your foot or knee back on the band to finish. But after that you have to push and see if you can do full sets on your own, even if you have to rest a little longer than normal between sets. Don't worry about that. Even if you have to rest 4 or 5 min, as long as you weened yourself completely off the bands.

@WhiteLionAthletics
@WhiteLionAthletics 5 жыл бұрын
+Roko714 Clips thank you very much for checking on her video and taking the time to leave us a comment! I mean the rep range any exercise will depend on your ability and your goals. For instance recent Studies have shown that doing Cluster Sets is very beneficial. This type of training is when you do a group of repetitions save 2-5 repetitions and then take a 30 second break do two to three more and then two to three more until you accumulated the reps you want for that overall set.
@WhiteLionAthletics
@WhiteLionAthletics 5 жыл бұрын
+Roko714 Clips thank you very much for watching a video and taking the time to leave us a comment. New research has been supporting that performing Cluster Sets is a great way to increase your strength. These sets are groups of say 2 to 5 repetitions followed by a 30-second rest. Then complete 2-5 more and so on until accumulate sufficient volume (ie number of reps) for that set. Then rest 2-5 minutes. Repetition programming will always vary and there is continually debate on what is optimal. The best thing to keep in mind is that scientific research is always changing as this topic is a great interest to strength coaches. Keep abreast of new research that is coming out from your people sources so you can always understand why you're doing what you're doing. With Fitness nothing is ever constant so it's always good they keep well informed about the current state of the art so you have good reason to program as you do with your strength training.
