I love this been using it for year's now but the only problem it gave me migraine headache from using it 2 much, so I took a break for awhile guess I use it more then 10 til 8 hour's a day from the 1th time I use it now have 2 use it only for 4 hour's but am only using it for an hour, it help me so much

Thanks so much, got my machine yesterday and used it last night. Best night's sleep that I can remember. My wife told me at 5 am my machine ran out of water and I started to have apnea but no snoring. I sleep with my mouth open on my side so I will try the nasal mask instead of the full face mask. I have never felt so wide awake in years, thanks to your machine.

Hi there, if you're sleeping with your mouth open then you would want to stick with the Full Face mask however you can certainly try a nasal if you like. Don't worry too much if the chamber runs out of water but just fill it up to the max level line. You can try turning down the humidity a little and this will reduce the amount of water used. Glad you are feeling the positive effects of the therapy so early on. Great! All the best. Nick

So much more (and better) information than provided by ResMed! Their information and instructional materials are miserable. This is the first place I've found any information on what the numbers on the report MEAN! What's a good AHI number? Under 5! Who knew!? How much Leak is too much? Over 50! First place I've seen that! I've been concerned about my number, which is far lower. Thank you for the thoughtful guidance!

Hello Nick, thank you for your advice, we set the humidity to 8 and t27, it become humid in the nose, but hot air is coming in, lower the temperature in the nose is dry.Best Regards.

OMG I did not realize there was a feature to check the mask fit. I frequently have mask leak problems during the night that I don't have when I first put on the mask. I just tried the mask fit feature and was able to adjust the mask to stop leaks. Hopefully this will help at night. Thanks for the tip!

There is 4 different models of this, only 2 are autoset. I got mine in 2014 and see they made changers in the case. Mine didn't come with the extra hose holder, power cord and tube used the same

I have watched your excellent video on Smart Start and was able to find Smart Start under the Clinical Menu. I took a suggestion from someone and Turned Off Essentials to get Smart Start onto the Home menu. From there I turned ON Smart Start and it works - but it DOES NOT turn off automatically when the mask is removed. The ONLY WAY I can get the machine to stop the air when the mask is removed is to manually hit the power button or change the Ramp Time from Auto to OFF. I really would like to keep the Ramp Time set on Auto. What am I missing here? Your help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

If I can t sleep with hot air, I always need to have cold air to sleep. Do you recommend getting the heated hose or just go with a normal hose? I have the dream station and doing the recall, I am going to buy this unit that works with no problems.

My wife, she uses the same machine and suffers from dryness in the nose and throat, yesterday we set it to 8 humidity and 27 temperature, she suffered from dryness all night, if you add the temperature, condensation forms. previously grateful.

Hi Felix, i would increase the humidity to max but you will also probably need to increase the tube temp if you are experiencing condensation. Also try preheating the humidifier chamber or filling it with hot water so that it doesn't take too long to heat up. If you wife is using a nasal variety mask, perhaps make sure she is not breathing through her mouth unconsciously whilst she is asleep and if she is consider a full mask or using a chin strap which will help her keep her mouth from opening during the night. Thanks for the tutorials. I've watched all three! I've had the machine since 2017 or thereabouts and I'm pretty sure it sends a report out over data to the company/doctor who assigned it to me. Maybe I'm wrong. But is there a place where I can change the e'mail address it might be sending a report to? I've tried putting the machine in airplane mode and while that locks it down, it's kind of a pain to deal with. Thanks!

Hi Mary, glad you enjoy the channel :-). You replace the water each day and for some people the water does run out but it's not a big problem as it's probably only for a short period of the night near the end that it runs out. Regarding the noise, if it's an AUTO CPAP the pressure levels will change each night and some nights the pressure will be higher than others which will create more noise. It might also have to do with the mask leaks etc. Best wishes. Nick

Thanks for your videos. I watched them over a year ago, but that was when I first started using my CPAP and forgot a bunch of things. Now that I've been using it a while I've found some things that annoyed me. First of which is the ramp time and startup/minimum pressure. Any time I get up I'd have to struggle to breathe after putting my mask back on again.

I recently purchased a ResMed AirSense 10. I used to have a Philips Dreamstation but "foamgate". One of the features I liked about the Dreamstation was the ability to push a button during the night to reset the pressure back to the starting pressure if I woke and it was high. Does the ResMed have a similar feature?

Just get the resmed airsense 10 Autoset. THe "Autoset" version will make sure the pressure never goes too high

Maybe I've missed something. I have the same machine and pressure by doc was 4 low to 15 high. Middle of night it would blow my face off so I stopped wearing it. Now if I lower the high down to 12 or less should that help? Thanks I really appreciate it

Dave you're 100% correct. I would set the high at 10, run it for a week and check your AHI (apnea hypopnea index). If its at a manageble level

Hi Dan, welcome to the channel and thanks for your question. I would not choose either of those machines. They're both about 6-7 years old now and i know Philips just released the dreamstation 2 and i imagine ResMed will be close behind on the AirSense 11 etc. If you didn't mind having an older model you could probably score a pretty awesome deal on a dreamstation 1 about now. Try to reset the pressure to 4. Make sure u keep a note of the humidity as each night might be different to ur like (how u cope). Make sure the water tank is put in correctly closed, this should reduce ur mouth dryness

Hey legend, you're pretty close here. So EPR is the pressure relieve setting that drops the pressure a little as you exhale (there's 3 levels and the higher you go the more pressure relief). Bipap is a little different as you can basically set any level for your exhalation pressure so you can go A LOT more pressure relief. Always a good idea to consult your Physician on what's best for your situation :-). Take care friend. Nick

Hi Felix, Yes you can boil water for your device however i would probably let it cool a bit before putting it in the chamber as the boiling water might affect the plastic and rubber seals etc. The only reason that companies tell you to use demineralized water is to avoid mineral build up on the heater base. If you're cleaning the chamber frequently then you shouldn't have a problem however you can always buy a descaler liquid or even 1 parts white vinegar to 3 parts water and leave sit for a few hours. Hi Meg, this happens to a lot of people and there's not a whole lot you can do about it (apart from lowering the humidity level which will lower the heater plate temp). Hi Nick sorry I’m a nuisance but you are the only one I can understand what you are saying.I have a ResMed auto Machine I’m running it on auto but I’m on 7 pressure and still waking up a bit tired I’m using the machine for about 8 hours events per hour I’m having 2;7 I don’t know if this is right and suppose to change anything.Thank you Nick

hi mary, what do you mean 2;7? Do you mean 2.7? If that is the case then your results are good. Waking up tired is pretty normal. When most people wake up they feel pretty sleepy especially if they wake up in a deep, slow wave stage of sleep. Check out this app, it might help you out! Hi CPAP reviews. Currently, I have a Philips System One with humidifier and heated hose options. I have been getting stuffy clogged nasal passages because of the winter weather, this causes my sleep apneas to go up and it wakes me up. I have tried nasal sprays which work but medical advice says to only use these sprays for 3 days max.. So I turn up the humidification from 1 to 2, this should help, but the System One appears to have a problem with the heater hose - it turns on for about 5-10 mins and then appears to automatically turn off altogether?? When hose turns off, this then causes the humid air from the humidifier to condense, whilst the heater hose has now turned itself off for some reason? I found the heater hose settings section and then put the heater hose upto setting 3 (out of 5 being the highest). Nevertheless, the heater hose turns off after about 5-10 mins just the same. I also found on this Philips System One that if I turn the heater hose up to setting 3 temperature that the humidifier automatically follows this heat setting and goes to setting 3 also - weird! Anyway, what I really need, is the heater hose to stay on all night at about temp setting 2, without turning off after 5-10mins automatically. IS THERE ANYTHING I CAN DO TO MAKE IT STAY ON (NEW SOFTWARE?)? WITH THANKS. (Also do any newer model CPAP machine keep the heater hose on all night or are they designed to only heat for short periods?)

It should stay on all night if set to a set level. Try just cranking the heated tube up to as high as it can go ( i think 5 from memory ). You could also try adding a tube cosy / wrap which is an insulated covering that goes over the tube to keep the cold off it or just warm your room up a little. Also make sure your machine is lower than the bed so that any water condensation drips back down into the chamber. Yes the newer dreamstation has a better humidification system but i wouldn't upgrade to it from the system one as it's still a great machine. Hope this helps

@@CPAPReviews Thanks cpap reviews - I will try the cozy wrap and crank the unit up as suggested (yes! level 5 is the highest). In the meantime I rang a Philips parts seller and they sold me a Dream Station heater hose (because this hose they could sell it too me at cost price) - it is compatible with the system one hose (fits srtaight in nice and tight, with the only downside being it sits 1mm lower at the top of connection because the system one has a bit of a ridge at the top and the dream station hose is a little more round at the top and the colour is white and the system one hose at connection is charcoal in colour). This will allow me to see if the fault is the hose or the machine or just not cranked up high enough in temp. Will let you know how it turns out. Will try the new hose tonight. with thanks

@@CPAPReviews Hi Bro - I purchased a new Philips heater hose @cost price to see if its a problem with my old heater hose - tried last night and no luck the new hose made no difference, still cutting out after 10 mins - so what that tells me is it's the System One machine - rang for technical support and they said it sounds like the machine - they will get back to me to see how they can help me - will let you know what happens PS I cranked the heat level on the hose to highest level 5 and heater hose tube did not start heating, however the humidifier did crank up more humidity (so the humidifier hot plate heats ok but hose not getting power from machine after 5 mins (I do have the correct 80W power supply)

@@breaker1685 Hey , you do know in order to turn up the heated tube you need to not have the tube connected to the machine yes? Otherwise you are just turning up the water level. When the tube is disconnected it will then affect the tube level. Just checking you know this?

If you are in the technical setting set up as opposed to the normal user set up, the "System One Humidification on/off" setting disappears if you still have the heater hose connected and therefore you can NOT turn this feature on unless you disconnect the heater hose (when you disconnect the heater hose this feature pops up on the options screen list) and as I found this feature has to be turned on first before the "tube temp" can be set and actually work in practice. but then I found I had to go back to the normal user set up, then plug the heater tube/hose back in first, before I could set the hose/tube temp for actual machine working use. The obvious question IS: Why did Philips make this simple procedure so tricky and complicated??? Thanks sooo much "CPAP review", I've spoken to several people about this problem and you're the only one who mentioned this method. PS I put the heater hose in combination with the humidifier to the test (Humidifier level 2 and heater hose heat level 3, then 5) and the heater tube/hose stayed on for 30 mins not cutting out the heat. with thanks breaker1

Has nothing to do with the water, it has to do with the mask fit. Just try adjusting the mask straps to get a better seal ;-)

I'd say about fifty percent of those menu options do not appear on my machine.

Sometime clinicians lock patients out of the menu. They can set it up in a way that makes the patient not be able to fiddle with settings. If go to part 3 of my series you can access the clinical settings and you should be able to see most settings in the clinical settings menu. Cheers

Today I've begun to have a more explicit power struggle with my supplier/clinician regarding the settings. I recognize that they are experts, and that "I don't have to listen to experts" is nowadays the clarion call of idiots who think facemasks are evil for some reason, but... I kind of wish I'd just gotten another ResMed 9 instead of this 10. I had a satisfying relationship with my ResMed 9 for 6.5 years with literally zero oversight from my clinician. Now I'm getting a sense they want to micromanage my use of my AirSense 10.

Hi Peter, if you're new to the therapy it can certainly feel overwhelming in the beginning and many people feel the same way when they're first starting out. My advice is to make sure you have the EPR setting on 3 which will make it easier to breathe out and make sure you cap your therapy nice and low in the beginning so there's not too much pap pressure ( you can always increase it later on when you're more comfortable). Also have your humidity settings up nice and high as this will alleviate congestion and make it easier to breathe. It does take a bit of effort in the beginning but once your body will adapt with a bit of time and effort and one day you will look back and wonder how you ever slept without it. All the best. Nick

I wonder if you can help me, I have been using cpap for 4 years but just bought a new resmed airsense 10, I am having trouble with what seems to be the tube not heating up and the air too cold, I have it on Auto for the humidifier but the air is too cold and I hate that, I have tried to put it on manual and turn it up a little but still the air is cold, the plate is heating up and the water feels warm but the air is cold, this problem is driving me a bit crazy, I hope its not the machine or the tubing as I paid a LOT of money for it and dont want the hassel of taking it back....please help

There is a warm up setting in the same menu with the humidity level and temperature adjustments. I may be the last item in the menu. You can turn it on before you go to bed to preheat the water. Takes about 15 minutes to preheat.
