I can't thank you guys enough for these three videos on setting up a Resmed 10. I've had mine three years now and have been disappointed with the benefits I get, I've had the dry mouth and waking up with a belly full of air but thanks to your videos I've accessed the hidden menu and fine tuned the settings to suit me and have just had the best night's sleep in ages, thanks again.

Thank You So Very Much! With Your Great help, I was able to "tune" the settings. My lab test results = 24 AHI without CPAP. Set to prescription, 5.8 AHI over the first 3 months. 12 months after tuning, 2.4 AHI average. And the last three months average is 1.8 AHI. 90% pressure average is 5.8. Great nights of sleep and real rest. Every month my body is adjusting to having better, real sleep. At age 68, my snoring and big body shakes have gone away. I did take a month between each change (done in steps), so I knew if the results were proven. Thanks

I have had my ResMed AirSense since January 2015 and have not had a single problem with it and it is still working as good as the day I got it. The SD memory card makes it a lot easier than taking the whole machine in so the pulmonologist can get the data from it.

So happy I found this video. I've used this machine for 4 days now and am feeling very frustrated and like giving up. Having a difficult time exhaling, for lack of a more polite way to describe it, I wake up to what sounds like farting sounds as I exhale and the mask seal is broken. I've tightened it and it didn't seem to hep. I turned the Pressure Relief off. Also the water level in the reservoir doesn't change throughout the night despite me turning up the humidity level. I did notice that the tubing I received is different, it is not this heated tube that you show here. Wondering if the company gave me the wrong kind? The sleep report shows I have both a good mask fit and that the humidifier function are working fine. Any guidance is appreciated.

The thing is, some people don't have the time to clean this thing that thoroughly as often as you explain. It would be nice to forget life for an hour to clean a cpap machine tube and everything but for many that is not possible especially when you have other medical issues to prepare for each night. I feel like a robot now more than a human. Having to take pills to operate each day and a machine to keep me breathing while i sleep. At some point, ya just say. I cant do all of this. I clean it up the best I can and change the supplies as much as I can when I remember.

Watching your videos. And they are very clear. I don’t know why but I seem to take mask off after 1-3 hours. Last night was a little past one hour.. Miya machine does not start out slow. It seems to ramp up very quickly after I put it on. I just got a new nasal pillow mask. It feels like that was a good idea. Maybe I am retiring too late.
@CPAPReviews
@CPAPReviews 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Dorothy, thanks for that. People take the mask off in their sleep for a variety of reasons and it's sometimes hard to figure out exactly why. It can be that the pressure is too high and it's causing mask leaks and overwhelming you or it could be that it's too low and you're still having apnea events which can make you feel suffocated. It sounds like to me you might be struggling with the machine ramping up the pressure too quickly so perhaps either set a long ramp time which will gradually build up the pressure over a longer period of time or put a limit on the pressure levels so it can't go too high and wake you up. Have a great day Nick

@@CPAPReviews Well, I am using this machine for a few days now and altought it's not so much time heres first impressions: - the sound is acceptable, it's not so loud, my wife can handle it, much better than my snoring to be honest, so that's ok - the first night I tried with nose mask and it was ok, I did not had any problems - the second night I tried the other mask, including humidity and it started well but after few hours it woke me up loud sound since the mask moved a bit and I couldn't fix it easier to stop sound so I just removed it and continued without it - night after that it was the same, so definitely I am doing something not so good because the mask just move a bit and start to make loud noise which even wakes my wife - last night I tried to nose mask once again and it was no problems There is only one thing which I am not so found of in both masks, and that's air blowing out (not so fast and loud to be honest) near the mask itself ... but I guess air has to get out somehow. All in all, so far so good, I understand it takes some time to get used to it so I will just continue trying to find the right solution, way of using it ... And one more thing, machine itself looks great, all equipment looks really well designed, all features in settings looks helpful. I think it's gona be ok. I will come back with more infos after some time. But so far, I would recommend it ...

Here I am again. After several months of using it I can tell I am more than satisfied with this. My wife as well since I am not snoring any more. There is only one thing, sometimes during the night when I turn towards her she can feel air blowing at her and she has to wake me up or just push me to turn on another side. But it rarely happen. Also, I figure out about the whole mask that air blowing is because I stop to breathe and machine turns pressure so that was the thing. But anyhow, I like nose mask more and I just came back from a vacation and I had it with me all the time of course. Very light machine, easy to carry anywhere and easy to mount and use. My sleeping is much better, usually I turn to sleep few seconds or minutes after I put machine on my nose. No more snoring, sleeping is better, I feel much better in the morning compared with months before and that's it. For any questions feel free to ask. Good luck to everyone.

Hi Nick, great channel mate, thankyou for your guidance. A question about cleaning the humidifier chamber, is it wrong to use ordinary tap water? I know I get the discolouring in my plastic chamber and want to know if it's ok to use the CLR Calcium, Lime & Rust remover product in the chamber to give it a good clean up. Not always possible to get hold of distilled water.
@CPAPReviews
@CPAPReviews 3 жыл бұрын
G'day Brother! Cheers for the kind words :-). Yeah it's a great question. So the main reason that the manufacturers recommend distilled water over tap is that the tap water contains minerals and as the water evaporates the minerals get left behind which can cause the discolouration and sediment build up etc. I don't know about using the CLR mate so i wouldn't want to give you the wrong advice but it's probably toxic i would think so might be best to avoid. I know that some people use white vinegar and dilute it in water. From memory it might be like 1 part vinegar to 5 parts water and then you just leave it in the chamber for a day and then rinse and give a good scrub. We have a product here in Australia which is a descaler and it's brilliant. I'm not sure where you are located but here's the link www.remsleep.com.au/product/ecodescaler-chamber-cleaner-500ml/ Have a great day legend

just use white vinegar and let it soak for 5-10 minutes, then clean with dish detergent as normal. the vinegar dissolves all the mineral buildup from the tap water. i wouldn't use CLR in a cpap.

Hi Virginia, Yes the setting is called EPR (expiratory pressure relief). You would want this set to 3 ( i imagine it probably is already though ). The first couple of weeks are always a bit of a challenge as his lungs will have never had to breathe against any sort of pressure so it will take some time for them to get use to it. In time it won't feel like such a big effort to breathe out and it will feel more natural. Just takes time. Best wishes

Nick just wondering is the Res-Med machine you are showing us in this 3 part series is it the "AirSence 10 AutoSet" or the "AirSence 10 Elite" ? I am gathering it is the "10 AutoSet". What are the diffences between the two machines?
@CPAPReviews
@CPAPReviews 6 жыл бұрын
G'day mate, it's the autoset. The difference is the way the machine delivers the pressure. The ELITE is a fixed pressure machine, the machine is programmed to deliver a set pressure and does not vary from that pressure apart from during the RAMP period. The Autoset is a VARIABLE pressure machine or AUTO machine, it self adjust the pressure based on a specific algorithm which varies the pressure based on the information it receives from from a flow sensor which monitors your breathing. The autoset will continually self adjust the pressure to deliver a more tailored therapy whilst the ELITE is set to specific pressure. Hope this helps. Cheers

@CPAPReviews

Hey mate, i personally don't bother. If you empty the water each morning and give it a little scrub with a brush then you should be fine. If you do get some mineral build up on the bottom you can get a liquid descale or even just use some diluted white vinegar which will also work. It's totally up to you but i don't think it's necessary especially if you drink the water out of your tap at home. Cheers

The ResMed A10 CPAP must have either this cover or the humidifier installed when using it. I like the cover panel to protect the CPAP innards when traveling, and for sleeping without the humidifier. One CAN sleep with an empty humidifier chamber if you don't have access to distilled water. I dislike that this cover panel is difficult to disassemble for cleaning. No a whole lot you can do in this regard. You can trial a 'chin strap' for extra support but it's a bit fiddly and more straps aint exactly enjoyable. Probably best to try a full face mask like the F30i or AmaraView if the chin strap doesn't work. Can also try lowering the cpap pressure to see if that helps but keep an eye on your AHI level so it doesn't go much over 10. Best of luck

My Resmed Airsense 10 is only three years old and has worked well until recently. Last night, the cpap stopped and displayed a "High Leak" alert. I checked the mask leakage and it was not any worse then previously. Is there a way to turn off the "High Leak" alert and not stopping the cpap? HELP! Do I have access to the EPR or is that set by the doctor who subscribed. My trouble is that sometimes I have 20 LBs of (auto-adjusted) pressure shooting out of mouth. What wakes me up is the dryness and the bitter nasty taste and then of course the rushing air out of my mouth.
@CPAPReviews
@CPAPReviews 3 жыл бұрын
Hi There, check out part 3 of the series and you can turn on the EPR. It might be turned off in the clinical settings. Using your data, have a look at what your average pressure and your 90th percentile pressure is and you can use this as a guide to set a limit on your max auto level. For example, if over a week your average auto pressure was 8 and your 90th percentile pressure was 10, then you can safely set your max auto level to around 10 or 11 and perhaps your min level around 6 or 7 and then monitor your Apnea Hypopnea Index (AHI) for a week and see how that goes. If your AHI remains below 5 then you could drop that max auto level by 1 again and use it for another week and see if still stays below 5. As long as your AHI is below 5 then you can keep bringing your max auto level down, capping the pressure whilst still maintaining good control of your sleep apnea. This will make the therapy much more enjoyable to use, it will improve mask leaks, make it quieter and stop it waking you up. Definitely check out part 2 and 3 of the series :) Cheers Nick
