Dude, you just saved me a bunch of money! I saw grass packed in, just like you showed, viola, I have reverse!

Great tip! Worked like a Charm. Was just the dirt in there. My tip is to use compressed air if you have a compressor and blow it out. Much more efficient.

Glad to hear the video was helpful! Before I put my mower back in the shed after mowing I use a leaf blower to slow off the entire mower, including the area where the dirt and grass collect. Even with blowing the mower off every time I still have to push/scoop debris from the area every year when I put the mower away for the winter. I'll try compressed air this fall to see if it will clear any debris left behind by the blower.

Thank you very much for the great tips. It was grass keeping the linkage from moving full range. It's working perfectly again. 👍🏻

I just had to clean my mower, reverse totally quit working and then after pulling enough grass to fill a shoebox out from under the mower it now squeals the tires when I stomp on reverse in the driveway. I'm going to make cleaning the grass out a part of my routine every 6 mowings or so.

Thank you so much it was the grass , I was about to take it to a shop, thank goodness I ran across your video . Lol it was grass 🎉❤ again thank you

Glad I was able to save you a trip to the shop! My mower was getting slow in reverse again last week and I cleared an unbelievable amount of grass out and now the reverse is so strong the tires spin.

I just noticed you like Pickleball. Same here. You are too cool Bob!

LOL, I've never been a 'sports guy' and never played any sport growing up. I love the concept of golf, but was never able to play well enough to actually enjoy golf (plus it's so freaking expensive). I picked up a pickleball paddle after retiring and now I'm playing 10-15hrs a week! "Zero-Zero-Two!"

Mine will bark the tires on the driveway when hitting reverse after the procedures. :)

Thank you so very much. Craftsman T210. You see no grass on bottom, but then there is that plate you showed. BINGO!!! OMG. Save a service trip.

We have an XT1 that all of a sudden stopped moving? Could this be a fix before taking it in somewhere?? Note: belt is in tact
@Koolbob22 ай бұрын
Tough to say, is could be as simple as a wet or work out drive belt, or it could be much more serious. Keep in mind I'm just a homeowner who likes to tinker with things, here's what I would check: #1 Make sure the transaxle engage/disengage lever sticking out the back of the mower in between the rear wheels is pushed in all the way. #2 Make sure the drive belt and pulleys are dry, it doesn't take much moisture to make the belt slip. #3 Jack up the rear wheels and perform the air purging procedure in this video. While you've got the rear wheels off the ground, if the wheels don't move as they should, check to see if the drive belt is turning the pulley on the transaxle when the engine is running. #4 If the drive belt is more than a couple of years old I'd consider replacing it, it may be slipping when the mower is on the ground. #5 Check to be sure the transaxle has sufficient fluid. There should be a small metal plate, decal or stamping on the transaxle with the model number, look up how to check the level and what fluid to use on the internet. #6 If it still won't move then I'd make sure the pedal mechanism is working properly and moving the lever on top of the transaxle forward and backward. If the transaxle is engaged, the belt isn't slipping, the transaxle is full of fluid and the pedal mechanism appears to be working properly then I'd be inclined to go ahead and have the mower checked out by a pro.

@@Koolbob2 well you sir, are a helpful person, thank you!!! I'm reading this to my hubs (who doesn't do the KZbin thing, he's old lol) and we'll start down the list tomorrow. (Belt is secure and pedals engage, we got that far earlier) Thank you again for taking the time to comment back and to try to help, God bless!😊❤

I own a Husqvarna ST 138 2015 model. when I push the forward pedal the mower goes in reverse, the reverse is okay, but the forward goes in reverse too..? Its got me beat.. Should I give this a try..?
@Koolbob23 ай бұрын
Wow, that's really odd! I'd mash the pedal forward (F) and reverse (R) and check to see if the rod that goes from the pedal to the transaxle is moving in the same direction, or different directions. If the rod is moving the same way for F and R then the problem is with the pedal. If the rod moves in different directions for F and R (as it should) then the problem is probably in the transaxle.

ya should've tested the reverse after clearing the debris. Wonder if that ONLY was the issue.
@Koolbob29 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching! Yea, maybe the grass clearing would have fixed some or most of the slow reverse problem. I wanted to be sure I had it 100% fixed and I wanted to show all the steps that might be necessary for others as well.
@JosephDAndrea01218 ай бұрын
Seems like the procedures are similar just the "correct" way has you raise the mower which probably causes the fluid to move closer to the sump. It also looks like you have to drop the trans-axle to check the fluid. I have a craftsman T240 but it looks identical to yours so probably the same mower made by MDT.

Sorry for the late reply, missed the notification for your comment somehow. I can check level by removing battery, not great but better than removing transaxle.

Would have been very useful if you were easily understood, at times seemed you were too far away from the mike, especially when jiggling the switch on the transaxle

Yea, I have a wireless microphone that I use with my iPhone to make videos and sometimes the wireless mic quits working and the phone switches to it's built in microphone. I tried recharging and re-pairing the wireless microphone many times and eventually had to buy a new microphone.
