I love your videos! I used to be a contractor up until last year. I caught a touch of ALS, now i only watch others build stuff. I have a ton of stuff that i would love to do to my home, and it kills me that i have to now pay people to do it wrong. You guys are doing things correctly. One criticism, you need to put back real hardwood flooring. Don't do that vinyl crap upstairs. Save it for the basement if you must use it.

I just caught the videos of this rebuild the other day and it brought back nightmares. I did the exact same thing after I bought an old Victorian built in 1890 in the 80s. Including removing a chimney from the third floor through a kitchen fireplace to a summer stove in the basement. It still had the gas lighting in the walls, and the octopus gravity fed hot air coal stove in the basement. The roof was goose feathers with cedar shake and 3 layers of roofing slapped on top. The house was built from 40' sticks rough-hewn onsite. The outside walls were three layers; the original clap board with wax paper, cedar shake, covered with asbestos siding. That was replaced with over 50 sheets of 3/4 ply, 42 new windows, and new siding. I had a hole from the basement to the third floor because of the butchered floor joists when they ran the old lead drains through the floor boards. The floor joists where only held on the outside walls with a 1x6 cut into the outside sticks. I spent sooo much time rebuilding the old frame, and repairing the double brick foundation because of the unfiltered sand they used in the cement, causing the mortar to turn into dust. There is one thing I hope you are spared. Because the frame was roughhewn, the sticks were only even on the outside edge. Inside, the plaster and lathe hid how thin or thick it was because of how uneven the inside edge was. I had an old Sears table saw from the 50's that I used to rip 100s of 2x6x10s to sister every single stick so I could put up sheet rock. Because it was balloon construction I also had to place hundreds of fire blocks floor and ceiling level. Where I had to replace the floorboards, I used 2 layers of 3/4 ply for the floors to level up the 7/8 original subfloor and 1/2 ply. Thousands of nails. The ceiling on the first floor was 9 plus feet, 8 1/2 on the second floor. I couldn't afford so many 40 cu ft dumpsters, so for years I took truckloads of plaster and lathe to the dumps, paying by the lb. Tens of tons and I mean tens of tons I cleaned out. And my biggest mistake I made(other than buying the damn house in the first place), was living in it in it while I was doing all this. 19 years and still not done when I finally sold it. This being NJ, my taxes being $1,700 in 1986, went to $13,000 when I sold it in 2005. Tired of getting screwed by contractors, I learned ALL the trades. God bless you for saving an old house when it would have been easier to burn it down and build new. I also had to chuckle when you found things where not always built the way they should have. You are also so lucky to have a couple of buds helping you. I was alone. Good luck!

You can let Roman know the GE brings good things to life! 😂 Y’all are powering through the house. I saw other people commenting on the blue countertops, yeah they needed to go. Bye bye Felicia on those! Can’t wait to see the next steps!! Go Cole & Co.!! What a great team!

Once again, Justin and Roman are awesome!! Cole, you are so lucky to have such amazing friends to help with this project. Roman cracks me up and I’m always excited to see what kind of antics he’s going to get up to. It’s looking good in there and I can’t wait for the actual construction and not just destruction.

Here in tornado and hurricane land, the old houses that kept the chimneys have stood longer than the houses that removed those chimneys. Chimbeys are a great anchor.

I am so happy to see you get rid of that blue countertop I totally agree with you, but nothing matched in there. Nothing look good and I’m sure when you get finished your kitchen will be beautiful.

So far, I think this is better than watching "THIS OLD HOUSE". You really get to see some antics while demolition is taking place.

….. If u want to watch a 22 yr old farmer get things done, ur in the right place….. What a statement and what a ride so far. From moving into the house, through the clean up, the bin site and even the crop improvement this has been a truly fun and entertaining channel. Met some great people, learned about growing crops and even a bit of spiritual encouragement. What a great thing u started here Cole. And generations to come will have far more than some negative plates to prove history.

As someone who does similar concept to restoration + and whating to dabble in home renovations... that's pretty much why I'm here but after that if I like you enough I may stay for the other farm related stuff 😅
