@@callumunga5253 i didnt mean it happened often, but i think once every few decades they would stumble onto each others ships if they hadnt just snuck a few spies aboard, the main thing is to understand what the buttons do, and generally people dont like to rearrange the buttons or anything unless it makes the ship more accurate or more powerful, complexity is prefered, so understanding the layout is a big boost, even if you dont know how the equipment works etc

The Cardiassians routinely steal and memorize the layouts of up-and-coming Starfleet technology. The Romulans have their own extensive espionage network at this point in Trek. Also, since human ships after the Warp 5 project are partly based on Vulcan designs and Romulans are basically a splinter group of the Vulcans, it makes sense that they could pilot Vulcan and Vulcan-derived ships. On an unrelated note, Romulans are probably closer genetically to proto-Vulcans than modern Vulcans due to Vulcans glassing their planet. Extensive radiation that killed all the plants and animals and also Surak should definitely have mutated Vulcans.

I always liked that the Enterprise and Romulans were so much more concerned with saving their ships and working together that both sides were armed and carrying and many on both sides carried their sidearms in holsters (which many Romulans tend to do anyway). But the scene is tense enough as though that doesn't matter as they're just trying to help each other figure out why this is turning in to such a disaster. Two enemy sides working together in a crisis and after the time continuum is re-established we see that everyone is being a super-bro.

@SoranoGuardias4 жыл бұрын
Because the singularity powering it was contaminated by another spacetime.
@thegreenmanofnorwich4 жыл бұрын
@@SoranoGuardias yeah I got that, as it was part of the plot. But the beings returning to their own continuum apparently took the entire warbird with them, rather than just returning themselves. Why any of the warbird, why not just part of it, why not everything in the sector (I get that that would have required a two parter) What was it about the matter that made up the warbird itself that caused it to be pulled out of normal spacetime?
@Tantalus0104 жыл бұрын
Well, if I recall correctly, the aliens' young are still in the warbird's singularity core, because they were using it as a nursery. When they altered the core to fit their needs, they probably inadvertently altered the warbird's entire power grid. Hence, the warbird went back with them when they vanished. On the other hand, if the aliens disappeared intentionally, it makes sense for them to take the entire ship because the singularity core probably can't work properly without other ship systems monitoring it.

I've read a few comments about the Romulan taking the controls with such ease. I propose this. It is a giant touch screen after all, and its driven by a super advanced computer system that might just detect the species at the controls and adapt when they are authorized to use them. The federation has more than 150 species as its members, and if language was a barrier to entry there would be far fewer signing up. Its the point of the universal translator, and I'd imagine that logic would extend to reading and interfaces as well.

The only thing that bothered me about this episode is since Romulans are still adversaries/enemies of Starfleet, after the Enterprise returns the Romulans aboard their ship back to the Neutral Zone and one of their own ships I can't help but think they were all subjected to intense debriefing and potentially torture to extract as much information regarding the Federation flagship and the loss of their Warbird as possible.

Time space was reversed. So the ship never appeared to them and everything is realigning with the correct time line.

@@SWIFTO_SCYTHE Then why were they en route to drop off the Romulan crew?

hmm, the time-continuum is normal, the warbird vanishes but the burn-marks over the science/engineering screens behind the captain and number one are still there. And the evcuated personal is there, too. How is that possible ? ( 3:11 , 3:33 )
@varianschirmer93752 жыл бұрын
The flow of normal time was resorted... no more pockets like the one that accelerated the rot of the apples on the runabout's table or drained the fuel pod on the nacelle. The fractured space is fractured anymore. But the events weren't erased... the Romulans need a ride home as the aliens with their children in the artificial singularity that powered the warbird took the ship with them back to wherever they came from.

If the Romulan ship returned to it's own whatever, how was there a ship to evacuate the crew from?
@ablestmage3 жыл бұрын
This is my question.. seems to me like all of the other Romulan crew aboard the Enterprise would have also returned to their own time just as the alien on the floor did, and possibly left those aboard the enterprise floating out in space where the Enterprise would have been, in their own timeline..
@varianschirmer93752 жыл бұрын
The Romulans weren't from another time... the aliens pretending to be Romulans were. The Romulans were just inconvenienced the same way Riker & the Enterprise were.

That wouldn't be nice. The Federation needs to use this time travel stuff and show Zephram Cochran what his Mirror counterpart did on First Contact.
