It gets easier to remember once you’ve disassembled a movement a couple hundred times because you forgot something. It eventually gets easier, you learn where things go. ;) I just repaired my first watch as a hobby, it’s quite fun.

Things could be repaired more often, but sometimes it's almost cheaper to buy a new one. Also, years ago, people would do their own repairs, my dad repaired all kinds of things but sadly those skills are being lost because no one bothers anymore.

why are you blaming "society"? Blame companies that purposefully sabotage their products so it won't BE worth it to get the item repaired. and instead by a new one all over. When youre poor, thats just the lifestyle you can afford. You decant afford to buy longer lasting products because they have a higher upfront cost. Its not wrong for people to survive the best they can when companies aren't upholding their moral responsibility to make products that last so there won't be so much waste to begin with. Their greed has lead to environmental catastrophe. Not the consumers.

I am so in awe of this gentleman who cleaned and restored this beautiful Cartier watch. The patience and care in which he did so is absolutely impressive. Not to be flippant, but watching this video reminds me of when I was a child and taking apart my dad's Big Ben bed stand clock; no problem until I tried to put it all the pieces back together. I did not succeed. I think I was about six or so at the time. Dad was pretty mad. Haven't touched another clock since!

I'm a serial hobby repair and restore guy. I've restored old Japanese wall mount clocks, similar mechanisms just on a larger, cruder scale. Seeing the level the Nekkid Guy works on is really impressive. This is one of those jobs I know I would happily do all day long. Especially nekkid.
