I think this is generally true, with the caveat that the European civilization that he refers to, which is mainly Britain and Spain and France and Portugal, was not ancient. These were Germanic and Celtic tribes until they were partially Romanized.

Correct, altho lineages are ancient and even cultural foundations tho foreign, have deep roots. The customs, values and paradigms of modern Europe are unrecognizable from all past generations
