I've been working on my brother's 63 impala SS since last winter...its been in our family since 1972. Floor pans done...starting the trunk and quarters this week. We put a mild 350 in it for now but just got a hotter motor. We went with a 200 4r overdrive trans. When I saw you guys acquired one I couldn't click fast enough.

It's a 63 non SS car. Non SS had bench seats and shifter on the column. The extra steering column has a 64 impala steering wheel on it. The steering columns are the same for 63 and 64 non SS or SS, just non SS shifters are on the column SS are on the floor. Very nice find though. Just came across your guys channel and will continue to watch.

"63 and '64 Impala SS's could be ordered with a 3 speed. Column shift with a plain consoul. Also in a 6 cyl. Whatever you wanted.

Looks like the guts are out of a 64 Impala. I had a 63 SS back in the day. Wish I still had the most comfortable car I ever owned. It's a shame people lie about crap like your motor. A lot more work for you guys. Good luck.

I don’t think he lied about the motor I just don’t think he knew, I think he was told it had vortec heads by his engine builder or maybe just forgot, it does suck that’s it’s what what it had claimed to be though! And the mice really made it worse! Oh well, you win some and you lose some!

Nice car. Love the 63's. What I don't understand is why you think that the engine is junk, just because you got a few mouse turds on the camshaft? Did I miss something? Also why not keep the dual quad, that would be a really nice selling point for me. Thanks for the video

I don’t think the engine is totally “junk” but there is a lot of rust and the bottom end is stuck (could just be the cam binding from seized lifters) but I’ll figure that out in the next video! Thanks for watching!

I've seen that happen quite often. Some very rare cars sit and deteriorate because someone "plans" on restoring it someday that never happens.

If that is actually a ‘58 vette manifold, it was a very poor choice for a 383 Chevy. The ‘58 was made for the small, old WCFB carbs, along with small ports. Using this manifold would raise questions about who built this engine.

Not an SS center console, and not even the correct console for a 63 impala! Ditch that gross thing & get a proper 63 ss console! They are gorgeous! And double check all the rear body mounts & braces! If those go bad, the tops of 1/4's will crack right by where the roof meets the 1/4! -nothing fixes that crack permanently unless u fix those mounts/braces! Awesome car tho! I miss the one my dad had for 12 years while I was growing up! (Which was a 300hp 327 & powerglide, true SS car) & judging by that engine, i would get the crank measured & make sure its a 400 crank! I bet that thing is just a plane jane pickup truck slug through & through! (w a fresh coat of resale krylon!)

@@resurrectionauto5714 How are the floors? Those X frame cars are pretty dependent on good floors, mounts & braces! Have you thought of doing the SS trim package w all the machine spun aluminum parts?

@@bronson420il floors arnt too bad need a couple spots fixed, rear mound are soft and will also need fixed. I’ve got the SS Dash trim (spiraled, that SS console I’ve got has matching metal) I measure the crank in that engine and it is a 400 crank. Guy built it and let it sit so that’s why it looked like poo on the inside haha. I won’t be putting any of the SS stuff on this car

@@resurrectionauto5714 yeah, from what i could see in the vid, i just HAVE to question the legitimacy of dudes claims! (Who lets a garden grow in a "fresh rebuild"?!) Lol! So long as the car itself is good, the old style small block engines can be had pretty cheaply these days! Who knows, maybe a 348 or 409 "w" head engine will cross your path! (How cool would that be?!) The sheet metal work isn't too horrible, so I'd say she's a winner overall! Finding a good hardtop like that isn't easy! & this one seems FULL of great potential "content"!!! Great choice in cars! I can't wait to watch it all happen!! Best of luck guys!!

Anywhere from $1,000 up to $15,000 but if it’s a true SS then price goes up then if it’s got the original big block then it goes up again. There is no set price tag on em Ernest. Depends on the seller buddy and how bad you want to be a buyer but I will tell ya that they will never be cheaper than what they are today unless you find one in a divorce sale but chances of winning the lottery are better than finding one like that!
