Workd perfect for me, for anyone else my symtoms were my reverseing lights wouldnt work also my reverse buzzer would not beep at all. Replaceing this part took ten min on my 1.9 touran and cured both problems.

Had mine changed today by a mechanic. That and an oil change cost me £249.60!! I could have saved myself some money if I knew where it was. I know now though. Have changed the oil myself before now but that was when my leg was 100 per cent better! Am still recovering from a broken thigh bone.

I have a 2004 Nissan Sentra, with a supposed reverse light issue, probably a dirty connection. Dad even witnessed it this evening, with very dim (LED) bulbs. He then saw those lights brighten up. Some days I would park the car leaving the (manual) shifter in the reserve position (instead of first/low forward gear). It has seemed much more more bright afterwards, upon my return.

I am having the hardest time getting the pigtail clip off of the sensor, and I do not want to damage either the sensor or the harness that the pigtail is hooked into. If you have any tips for removing the pigtail clip, please let me know.

Yes the reverse light switch is usually screwed into the transmission so that's transmission fluid you can see.

It could be the reverse switch or a bad ground somewhere in the wiring for the reverse light or it could be something else. I would recommend taking it to a garage and getting their opinion

A lot of cars only have a single reverse light. The matching light on the other side of the car is probably the rear fog light.

@@Molenbeek-qb8uc That's strange. It still sounds like the switch could be faulty. A new one is only about 12 dollars. It might be worth trying a new switch.

@@Molenbeek-qb8uc The problem could be in the gearbox. The reverse gear position in the gearbox might not be fully pressing in the plunger on the reverse switch. You might have to take it to a garage and have it checked out.

hey, i have a quick question, I tested the switch and when i push it in the reverse lights turn on. however, when i reinstall the switch and throw it into reverse the lights dont turn on. i can see that this switch isn't original so it was replaced before and i dont know if the lights worked when i bough the car. just wondering if there is another test i could do or if it is a problem inside the transmission. thanks, great video.

It's possible that the switch could be worn just enough so that the plunger has to be pushed in further to activate the switch/light. Easy to do with your finger but the mechanism in the transmission might not be pushing it in enough. With the switch removed you should be able to see the mechanism move inside the transmission like in this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/j3jRZ5avpqyqq7s

It's a process of elimination, this is just one possibility. I'd start with the bulb first.

It depends on the car. Some are easy to get at and some are buried behind extra parts. I don't think that sort of thing would be shown on the standard car manuals.

Hello, hoping someone can help. I have a vw caddy 2017 2 litre tdi and the driver side reverse light is not working but the left side still works. I have tried replacing the bulb in the right side and that still does not work. Do you think I need a new reverse light switch? I would of thought the left reverse light would not work if the reverse switch is faulty? And I dout the fuse has blown as the left side still works? Are you sure there should be two reverse lights ?. A lot of vehicles only have a reverse light on one side and the other side will usually be the rear fog light.

@@screwsnutsandbolts Both reverse lights are flashing randomly when I'm driving and sometimes when the car was parked. But about a month ago I noticed that all 4 indicator lights (only indicator lights) were flashing when the car was parked. Then I put the key in to the keyhole and turned the ignition on and then turned off. After that indicator light lights flashing was stopped. Rivers lights never flashed with when I'm turning indicator lights on (turning to a side) simultaneously.

I doubt oil will come out. I know Chevy std trans trucks have it mounted high on the L side. It only gets splash oil. Nothing comes out. If you lose a lot or want to change the oil, find the fill level hole and fill hole. Some machines, have only a fill hole but others like a Prius or even the lower unit on lots of outboard engines have a high up hole for filling and a slightly lower one so you fill until it comes out there. The drain is at the lowest part. To fill it get some cheap flexible plastic tubing at the hardware store, put it in the hole, run it to a high spot say into the engine compartment or even the door handle or mirror. Put a funnel in the tube and slowly fill until it drips out the level hole. Prepare to catch a bit of oil as the tube will have excess in it and drip more than filling until it drips will. Only a few ounces looks like a lot on a nice driveway. I would be very surprised if Dodge designed it so you would lose the tranny oil but have not done it to one.

I have a problem .. i checked the fuses, i buy the new reverse bulbs, clean and fix the rear lights, i buy and replace the switch tested everything and everything works.. but when i put the switch in the gearbox the reverse doesent touch the switch.. its making me crazy ://

Not a good way to test. If you wonder if it's bad, your reverse lights probably don't work. so the switch might be good, but you have a different issue.

Get a bit of wire, strip the ends make a U and put it into the plug. If there is power in the wire going to the switch but not past it, the lights will come on when you put it in reverse because you completed the circuit. Proves the switch is not working.
