In July of 2015, I decided to begin the journey of reversing my myopia and recovering 20/20 vision without glasses. I was tired of my prescription being increased each time I visited the eye doctor, and like virtually every other area of my life, I wanted to find a natural way to improve my vision. Please read the disclaimer below, and if this is the first of my vision improvement videos you've watched, I recommend watching the other videos in this playlist (bit.ly/2NzmG8g) as well as checking out the links below.

Hi Angie, Greetings from India... I'm myopic since last 4 years. My Right eye is much healthier as compared to left. I'm doing active focus by looking at the mountains from my window (20-25 minutes every day) until my eyes start tearing. I don't see much improvement in my eyes but yes sometimes I feel like my right eye is improving. Last year I was focusing on flame in dark room (approximately for a month) and I have noticed improvement in my right eye but my left eye had become worse by -0.25 As in Indian scriptures the technique to achieve spirituality and healthy eyes have been written in thousands of years ago and the technique is known as 'Trataka'. Yes I have experience in spirituality and I have experienced that there is something beyond human and modern science's tendencies. Anyways, coming to the point. ... I use glasses only while riding a bike and my prescription is: Left eye: 0.5 (Sph) & 0.5(Cyn at 85 degree) Right eye: 0.75(Sph) & 0.75(Cyn at 105 degree) But after wearing this prescription too my right eye is really weaker then left eye. I have figured it out that if I increase my prescription for left then it will again become worse. Kindly advise me what shoul I do to improve right eye. Just to mention that I am lefty by birth so my left body is stronger than right (noticed in gym) and when it comes to action my left body respond first. In my childhood I used to write with both hands but my parents made me habitual to write with right hand. I work for USA so I work at night (10-12 hours on screen every day) as we have opposite time zones. So working at night might affect. Kindly advise.... it will also help others.... I shall be highly obliged to you. God bless you and your family...(btw you have nice and beautiful family) Regards Rahul

As someone who refracts patients regularly I would like to point out that no optometrist or ophthalmologist is ever trained to give higher prescriptions than are necessary. We are trained to push plus (meaning give the lowest amount of minus power possible) to alleviate things such as eye strain and head aches in patients. Patients often like more minus (stronger glasses power) because minus lenses have a minifying effect. This effect makes words and things look smaller and darker which to a patient makes it seem like they can see it better when reality it does not actually improve a patients vision. A good doctor knows the difference between a patient that needs more minus and a patient that eats up the minus because it appears to give them better contrast instead of better vision. It pains me to see so many people in the comments section of this video series making villains out of optometrists and ophthalmologists because they think they want to make money off of you. It is a very complex science as to how someone becomes myopic with many factors involved such as age, race, environment and I assure you research is being done constantly to identify risk factors and understand the mechanism of myopia as well as other eye conditions. People are so quick to judge that eye care professionals are scamming people when they are unaware of what actually causes it. It seems convenient for people to call doctors untrustworthy and that saddens me because I want the absolute best for my patients, and so do your doctors. I applaud you Angie for doing a lot of research on your own into the matter but I would recommend looking into other sources than Jakes method. Myopia research studies would be very interesting to you I believe based on how much time you have put into jakes method. Myopia studies put in accredited journals would be best because they are the most reliable sources of information that are peer reviewed (peer reviewed means that it is reviewed by many other doctors and experts in a field before being published to make sure the information is most accurate). Sorry for the long post
@warriorofice33

'' It is a very complex science as to how someone becomes myopic'' no it isn't, it's very simple. Watch Jake's videos please and do yourself a favour, you could save many eyesight, especially of young people if you understood the damage you do by prescribing minus glasses.
@aichujohnson8444
@aichujohnson8444 5 жыл бұрын
@@warriorofice33 Are you sure that myopia happens one way, and one way only? Are you sure that some people do not become myopic as side effect to another problem, like a cataract? Of course, most people seem to be simply myopic without other eye problems, and even no astigmatism. But what about other people who have eye complications, and their eye cannot focus properly no mater how strong the glasses are? Jake simplified it for the masses, but he also said to read the studies. It is important to look at who participated in the studies and what other eye condtions they possessed. I suspect that the people in the experiment had standard myopia and nothing else. I agree with you concerning the minus. While most opthalmologists and optometrists may underprescribe a myopic patient, almost all of them tell the patient: "always wear your full prescription, even when reading a book."

Miss, I have -1 in my left eye ( though it's almost perfect) and -1.25 in the other. I'm thinking of getting Lasik surgery done since I want to join the military. I would very much appreciate if I could get the 20/20 vision naturally. I've heard that eye exercises can improve your vision and the power of believe etc. So, I have a couple of questions - 1- does one need to keep on doing these exercises for the rest of their life or would doing them for a couple of months will get you 20/20 vision. 2- are the results permanent? 3 - are there any other ways or methods to get 20/20 vision? Please let me know. Thanks
@Watttttttt123
@Watttttttt123 5 жыл бұрын
You must keep doing them until you get 20/20 vision and they are not permanent which even LASIK is not, but the good thing is that once myopia starts in like 40 years later, you will know how to fix it and lasik you will have to do it again and yes, there are other ways such as the ones in their Schneider or to do push reading.

Are there two kinds of reduction? I always thought that you reduce only 0.25 and improve to 20/20 but now I found that someone suggests to reduce to 20/50 and improve to 20/30. What did you find better? Thank you I appreciate your videos :)
@AngelaHepp
@AngelaHepp 5 жыл бұрын
According to Jake, your "normalized" prescription should put you around 20/40-20/50 in order to get a good amount of blur challenge, but not too much. Once you've found the prescription that puts you at 20/40-20-50, then whenever your vision improves and you're ready to reduce your prescription further, only reduce by 0.25 diopters at a time. Always wear your full correction for driving or any task where you need to see perfectly. This is not to be considered as medical or optometry advice.

cmb94 how often does your prescription change? I just started wearing glasses 5 years ago and when I started it was -1.00 and now yesterday it went from -2.50 to -3.00. Before I got pregnant my prescription was -1.50 and when I had her I noticed everything was terribly blurry, went to the eye doctor 6 months later (had to wait for January for the insurance to pay for it) and found out I had jumped all the way up 3 steps to -2.25. I’m concerned at how rapidly mine are changing in such a short time. I have friends who have had a stable number for 4 years. I feel like mine is never going to stabilize and I worry what the numbers will be in 10 years, at the rate they’re changing. 😞

I've had a similar experience albeit my starting point wasn't good. I've improved my distance vision by ~3 diopters. I had not just the usual driving, reading and computer lenses prescribed but I've also had what I call 'shop glasses' were the distance lenses has had one less diopter on the lenses than what was considered ideal. Result the driving lenses make me far sighted, the 'shop glasses' are what I must drive with for good vision at a distance and what I wear most of the time are my computer glasses. I've gone through several cycles of lenses for this improvement. I need to repeat the cycle. The optometrists shouldn't fear this as it requires new lenses one way or another. I suspect near-sightedness is a function of excessive carbohydrates (PMID: 28162831) and hence too much insulin during childhood, too little vitamin D ( PMID: 24970253) and possibly too much near focus also during childhood.

Hi Angie, I'm 18 and 6 months ago I had really good vision, however all of a sudden my eyesight has deteriorated within a month to around -2 left eye and -0.5 right eye. I was told it was just because of my age and that it's natural for my body to change, hence the vision change. This seems really strange to me - Would you be able to give your opinion on if you think I would be able to naturally correct my vision or is it just something which cannot be corrected from now on? Thank you!

Stress tends to do that. Sometimes we pull a muscle and we need to treat it back into proper function. Perhaps some of your vision problems are caused by pseudomyopia: that is, you "pulled" your eye muscle and it got stuck in one place. None of us knows what happened to your eyes. It could be something serious and irreversible, or it could just be an eye strain. Perhaps an ophthalmologist* can shed some light on your condtion. *(Opthalmologist is an official eye doctor. Not to be confused with an optometrist, who is a lens salesman that is licensed to check your vision and prescribe glasses.) While no one can give you assurance that your vision will improve, you will lose nothing by learning about your eyes and about how eyes work, and adapting good eye habits. By carefully trying out different methods and finding out what works for you, you might be able to stop your vision from deteriorating at the very least, and reverse your eye problems at the best. My personal opinion is: your myopia is low, which means that you have a good chance of reaching 20/20. I wish you luck in your "journey" of improving your current vision, should you choose to do so. :)

I think it is extremely unlikely, to know if this is true, -2 would mean you are only able to see sharply up to 50cm as 1meter divided by 2 is 50 cm, as for your other eye, if you can see sharply beyond two meters, then it’s better than -2. To know what -2 vision is like, get a pair of -2 reading glasses and if it’s a massive increase in blur, you’re probably not -2.
@LY121688

If your new glasses feel dazzling or strenuous, then they are too strong for you and you shouldn’t wear them, in daylight your better eye can pick up the work, at night you’ll have trouble seeing, try and go outside and get daylight and blink a lot, that will help recover your eyes, and use reading glasses that are +1 or +1.5 for near and intermediate work

To throw a spanner in the works- I work in an opticians and there have been many patients that haven’t worn their glasses for this reason and many of them have had their prescription get worse because the eye starts to strain more to get an image into focus causing the muscles to work more. There’s also been many many people that have worn glasses since they were very young, some with prescriptions like -7.75/8.50 and from wearing their glasses their eyes are not straining as much and now at the ages of 30/40 their prescription is now -1.00/-1.75 so be careful if anyone is doing this and speak to an optometrist first because remember it is illegal to drive if you have certain reduced visual acuity and you don’t want to do any damage to your eyes. I’m glad this has worked for you though. Breaking physics! *Plus I want everyone to be safe!* Good video though :)
@AngelaHepp
@AngelaHepp 5 жыл бұрын
If someone is following the method correctly, there won't be any "straining." And I'm not the only one. Thousands are using this method successfully. I encourage you to check out the links in the description.
