Very helpful video right now I'm torn between Tacoma trd and this Zr2 I gotta say I'm leaning towards the zr2 just based on the fact I can get it with a duramax

I drove both. New Tacoma's interior is really nice but it feels like your feet are right out in front of you and your sitting on the floor. Definitely a tough decision. I chose the ZR2 due to the superior off road equipment and Duramax. Both are amazing capable trucks.

I can't believe the zr2 with the diesel is $50k. It's a badass truck for sure buy damn that's a big payment

wait a bit for price drop. you can find some for 35-40k. ive seen bisons for 45. Wait a bit more and you can get some great deals. Tune one (diesel) and you get over 30 mpg and lots of power. You can get good mpg, good interior, best driving on and off road, and front + rear locker in a zr2

When you engage the exhaust brake it automatically puts it in tow mode!!

The Colorado is the most quiet of all the mid sized trucks. I have the 2015 Colorado Z71 Offroad Extended Cab, 3.6 liter. So far ( Knock on Wood ) its been a good truck. I do agree though,,, the Colorado does need more B Pillar handles because they sit fairly high off the ground. Im getting 25 MPG highway and have gotten 27 MPG,,,,and im getting 18 to 19 MPG combined,,,,and about 16 MPG city. The regular Colorado versions have a 7000 pound towing capacity, verses the ZR2`s 5000 pound towing capacity.

Cool video! I didn't know you could get the diesel in the Zr2 package. Steep price to pay for a small truck! That's $15,000 more than a paid for my tundra Sr5!

Yeah, it is a lot of dough. However, I truly believe, the size gap between mid-size and full-size pickups these days basically means they are two different vehicles. IMO consumers should treat them as different and not just a bigger or smaller version.

I'm the type of person auto companies don't like. I buy a truck and keep it for 15 plus years before I consider getting a new one. So I'm leaning towards the diesel because people say they last longer. Anyone know from experience if this is true?

I think the gas engine version has a tow/haul mode. Apparently the diesel does not.

They both have tow/haul mode. The Duramax adds the exhaust brake.

Dan Soderholm Unless you plan on rock crawling or hauling pass on on the diesel. Highway the gas which has more top end power would be better

@daywalker_27 brings up a good point on top end power. However, I didn't have any problem cruising at 70 mphs. The fuel economy is better with the diesel, however, the timeframe for ROI is loooonnngggg...

as a canadian driving at 115km i average between 7.2-8L on the highway diesel and gas are the same price

Your motor, brakes and chassis can handle 7,700lbs of towing. The non ZR2 Colorado 2.8 diesels can do that. The reason the ZR2 can't is because the DSSV shock setup

It's the same with the Ranger Raptor. The 3.2 5 cylinder Diesel can tow 3.500kg, the Ranger Raptor just 2.500kg.

@@Pickuptrucktalk wasnt trashing ur video... the video content is awesome...just the video quality was trash and could have been high quality it would have been legendary... i was just stating that u gotta step up ur game with all the high quality videos and livestreaming in HD out now adays, everyone is doing 4K UHD videos n stuff.. thats becoming the norm is all guess i worded it badly sorry.. i actually just got a hero7 to keep up w the times i thought at the time my 3 would have lasted forever, but thats tech... but yea what platform would you say is better? the diesel or v6 w a tuner intake and exhaust for mods... im really loving the diesel just worried its not gunna have enough power to get me unstuck from some deep nasty stuff.. love to hear ur opinion..

Peter Piccolo diesel has better low-end torque making it better for getting unstuck. If that’s your primary concern, then diesel.
