I'm several years late to the review and an avid GG2 overtruther through and through. What I find people misunderstand is that the game is trying to teach you (very badly) through the story mode it's mechanics for pvp. And like any fighting game, learning mechanics is not something you just pick up and be quickly good at. When watching this review I didn't see any real application of the lock on attacks which are way more damaging then the generic unlocked attacks, which makes the game look more jank than it really is. Running around is a bit awkward at first but if you spend 5-10 mins understanding the rhythm and the drifting in training mode its really not that bad. It is a skill in itself to learn. This installation is a black sheep for sure, but only because people stop at the weakest part of the game, the disguised tutorial which is the story mode of the game. If you want to see how the game is actually supposed to be played with competency, I post pvp matches with real people who have a grasp on how this game works. I disagree with it being a dynasty clone. In dynasty you are an all powerful single unit where the AI stands there and let's you beat them up. In this game, the units can and will kill you. It's closer to a MOBA with lanes, minions and an over arching nexus that needs to be destroyed to win a match. I think that this kind of gameplay fits very well as Guilty Gear spin offs. If they had put more effort in making the game more fast paced and deep in controls, the result of this game would be so much better! Cause it kinda looks like a cheap spin off made by someone else that's not Ark System Works. Still, i think is kinda the hidden gem in the franchise, and from 2007 to today, they are absolutely capable of iterating on this concept, and coming with something way better like those Fate Extra. Hope to see something like this in the future xD

Yeah, no one liked it back on x360 so it's suprising they chose to port in on pc. Still - good that they're back to making good fighting games with GGxrd

I reviewed the Steam port of this game, which came out in 2016. You would have a point if I tried to suggest Brutal Legend somehow influenced Guilty Gear 2, but that's not the case. I simply compared the gameplay to a couple of games that my audience is familiar with. I hope this clears up your confusion.

Completely unfair to bash this game The way you did If you knew anything about legacy guilty gear you would know that it pretty much translated every main mechanic from the to defining series into 3-D before this type of game (excluding dynasty Warriors maybe) even existed air dashing Roman candling wall combos proximity normals micro dashing super cancels animation frame links okizeme mix up. LITTARALY 80% of the old franchise is in the game translated to 3d while combining multiple different game genres all the way back in 2007! For fuck sake just because you suck too bad at the game to uncover this doesn't give you the right to say it dosnt work. And comparing this to That game came out years after this and combat wise is still a button masher

Incidentally, the game titled Pacman 2 was a sidescrolling adventure game. No it wasn't great lol (It wasn't actually the second Pacman game either)
