@pedrovallefin84062 ай бұрын
Monsters Unleashed is the real live action Scooby Doo. It perfectly encapsulates both the franchise and the 2000s as a whole. The first one is good too, but it ultimately comes off more like a parody of Scooby Doo that an actual adaptation. Fels like its making fun of the series, in stark contrast to the somewhat hearfelt homage of the second one. Of course, neither of them makes any sense. Though I think Monster Unleashed gets away with it better since its so cartoony that its nonsense seems self-aware, but it doesnt really matter since theyre both very entertaining despite their questionable scripts. And about the other movies... Well, I never saw them so I cant really talk about them, but based on this video alone I dont really feel like im ever gonna watch them either so... 🤷♀

Warner Bros REALLY wanted to appeal to kids in the 2000s. Whether it was forcing a direct R-rated parody into a straight up Scooby Doo adaptation or reconstructing a R-rated crime comedy into a unfunny kids movie that tricks the kids like me into thinking it’s about a talking kangaroo. I had a epiphany that Scooby Doo and Guardians of the Galaxy were a lot more similar than I expected. Both franchises began in 1969 and follow a team of mismatched heroes that travel around in a vehicle with its’ own unique gadgets, comprised of a dummy that eats a lot, a talking creature (or two), the shy nerdy hot girl, the HOT hot girl that kicks ass and the himbo leader who’s in love with the HOT hot girl that can kick ass. I never thought I’d say that the Guardians of the Galaxy movies are the best live action Scooby Doo movies and or call them “Scooby Doo from space in the MCU” but here we are. Also, Hayley Kiyoko seems to be a sucker for The Breakfast Club-esque plots if you look at the next big movie she was in. And looking at how they portray Velma now, in the show and in the last Halloween movie, it makes her casting in hindsight even funnier! Overall, I like the James Gunn movies (sans moments like Scrappy) and not so much the Cartoon Network movies. My expectations on the Netflix show are bottom low and I did watch the Mystery Incorporated pilot and enjoyed it for what it was. My idea for an origin story would be instead of them going to the same school, I’d make them live in different towns or go to different schools or both but they get entangled into a single mystery and go from co-workers who constantly argue into BFFs. But that’s just me. I also have my own ideas for how I’d set up a Hanna Barbera cinematic universe like Scoob wanted to do. And hell, Gunn is the co-head of the DCU. Maybe he could help out since he made the first live action movies.

4:08- I can tell someone never listened to classic episodes of American Top 40 on the radio with their grandparents, or in his run from the 80s to the early 2000s, the way you say Casey Kasem’s name (for anyone who doesn’t know, Kasem is pronounced with a long a sound, like the one in the Casey)

Matthew was perfect as Shaggy. To the point of voicing him later Wait. You're younger than me? I thought you were like 35

The first two were my favorite movies as a kid. I rewatched them this year and they still are my favorite movies

2:22 That’s very insulting to me, I absolutely love Stuart Little. It’s also a true childhood favorite of mine.

prolly would’ve been the best R rated early 2000s comedy cheese but we almost got there

The needle drops in this episode with the Doom OST, 13 Ghosts Of Scooby Doo theme for Scrappy's unmasking, and the Luigi's Mansion 2 OST, are all so good

10:51 yes, the videos were for the demons so the demons know how to “act normal” while drawing in more people to be possessed. I want to blame you for not realizing this but I just can’t bring myself to considering that as an adult this movie is so wild it can be very distracting.
