When I was a Vet tech years ago, we did a lot of reptile work. Kevin, you did a great job releasing that fluid. No infection detected and hopefully it was a hematoma and the rest will be reabsorbed. If it comes back, the lymphatic system may be the cause. I doubt it’s a foreign body since it had just hatched. Please give us an update. I figured you’d go back in for the sacks on the 2nd snake and she looks great. You may need small drains for them when you stitch them up. These are my favorite videos because it brings me back to the best time of my life, when I worked at the emergency animal hospital. So thank you!!🐍❤️🐍

My only concern with draining that amount of fluid at once would be a massive drop in blood pressure, as one the loss of the fluid being removed but also if the animal has an underlying issue causing fluid to leak from the cardiovascular system that once its drained that it will then loose further fluid. Hopefuly as its young it can cope with this maybe whatever is causing the leaking will resolve.

@Caitlin S Unfortunately NERD is too lazy to take time out of their day to take the snake to the vet and they don’t want to spend money on proper Vetrinarian care on an animal they’re meant to sell because that defeats the purpose of the profit. Nerd has lied on multiple occasions that they don’t have any exotic reptile Vetrinarians around. Well doing a simple Google search I found two licensed Reptile Vetrinarians within a 60 minute drive. They make more excuses that reptiles feel pain differently as if that completely justifies the fact that they’re illegally preforming unlicensed Vetrinary care and cutting reptiles open and performing surgeries without any pain management what so ever. Where I come from, that’s highly illegal to not only deny an animal that needs proper Vetrinary care but to go ahead and treat the animal themselves when they’re not even fully sure of what they’re doing or what they’re dealing with…because…oh, Jee, I don’t know, they NEVER went to school to learn how to properly be a Vetrinarian! It makes me mad when I see this time and time again, video after video they are too lazy and selfish to give these animals the proper Vetrinary care they deserve.

@@Splintz246 You are expecting way too much from vets. This is exactly the extent of what they would be able to do. It isn't coming from one location, this animal has hydrops fetalis, it's coming from everywhere. Kevin actively develops veterinary techniques, he is a grade above a vet, not below them though his instrument skill will be lower since he does not use them day in and day out. As someone who has worked with vets multiple times to develop treatments for exotic animals with rare conditions, I can tell you right now that most vets simply can not handle these cases without a biologist in tow and they depend entirely on us for research and data because they can not pull from experience for this kind of thing. Formulating the plan is a team effort though as they usually have better surgical skills etc. For someone with as much experience as Kevin, it doesn't make sense to delay treatment while trying to find a vet that can squeeze him into their schedule. Heck, even the vets I work with have told me on multiple occasions that I don't need them and can go ahead and give it a shot on my own and if I hit something I can't source (like an antibiotic) to call them then.

I am experiencing this with a baby I produced last year, but it's clear fluid alone. Which of the 2 fluids would you suspect in this instance? The yearling is a suspected super cinnamon, super mojave. I can't find any others that have lived with this combo so i am curious if its fatal combo, hopefully someone more experienced can help. I didnt not intend to breed super cinnamons. Mom was supposed to be a cinnamon mojave. Dad was supposed to be single gene banana. Based off the clutch, the now suspected pairing is cinnamon mojave × banana, cinnamon/black pastel, mojave. May have been from our male, his parents were supposed to be normal female to banana mojave male from a very reputal breeder, they did confirm from photos he was single gene banana. He has way more keyholes than alien heads so I did suspect the mojave we even took bets. But I didn't see cinnamon coming. The clutch was full of spinal kinking, cleft lips, duck billing. 4 of the 6 eggs did not hatch. They were suspected to be: 1 banana super cinnamon, 1 super mojave (alive and healthy), 1 set of triplets super cinnamon super mojave, 2 super cinnamon super mojaves, and 1 super cinnamon super mojave (alive). She has no kinking, a very small head, clear fluid under skin surface, dramatically worsens with normal size feeding( I have been managing her with small), neurological symptoms and a concaved esophagus. After a 3 day stay with our exotic vet they confirmed that it was a genetic defect associated to the morph. Any thoughts and expertise are greatly appreciated.

Vet tech here. It looks like a seroma. Likely trauma based but interesting it came out from the egg though. Unfortunately, it will probably fill back up. The body doesn't like empty spaces so it fills it up with fluid. You may need to use some vet wrap and put a bit of a pressure wrap on him. Also, they typically take weeks to heal and you may have to redrain it, but it's a catch 22 since you also might introduce bacteria into the seroma. Clean it well before draining. They often take a few weeks to clear up.

Kevin just gives them any and every chance to live, survive and thrive and it's awesome to see how he does it and maybe other breeders could look at this and learn something from Kevin being hands on as a "vet" ? Yes he's no vet, but nobody knows more about their animals than breeders do, especially if they've been doing it for yrs and yrs. So if you pay attention to your animals, see something wrong then don't just dismiss it and euthanize it, cause there is no vet and you aren't a vet. I can’t believe that much blood came out of a tiny needle hole. It’s crazy how different the snake looked once you got the blood out practically looked normal. It’s crazy how blue and bruised the poor snake was. Cannot wait to see updates. I love watching your videos and seeing the work you do, your phenomenal. 🐸💚 keep up the good work you truly care about each individual in your collection, it’s beautiful to see.

If that happens again, it might cost a bit of money, but I would take a sample of that fluid, and send it off to a lab for analysis, knowing exactly what it's made of can help you figure out where it comes from. For example, if it has low plasma but very high red blood cells, it might be the kidneys. Or if it contains high amounts of gut flora, it might stem from the intestinal tract. Knowing more will help you save another, should another similar case pops up.

This has been so interesting to watch! I admire your determination and ability to fomulate a procedure to help this little one. I definitely dont have your knowledge and experience, but Im always willing to try something that can help improve my animals quality of life. Thanks for taking the time to make these types of videos. I do have a vet for my animals but she knows very little about reptiles (her admission) I keep retics and carpet pythons. My biggest victory so far has been the removal of one of my retic's broken tooth (many threads of trust with her to let me mess with her mouth) Keepaking those videos! I love learning from you

@@amyb5339 No I hadn't. I understand that he has extensive knowledge but sometimes a consult certainly can't hurt. Something caused that and maybe, just maybe a vet had heard of it before and if the animal is suffering or going to suffer due to it coming back, it would be best to humanly euthanize.

@@musician200X Yes but I'm certain there are vets, even if it's a drive, that are knowledgeable of reptiles. Some specialize in reptiles and 2 heads are better than one with something like this.

When I was younger I used to have a notebook with all the turtles I’d find I’d measure them and take other notes on them and then draw the best picture I could of them in case I found them again Idk 🤷‍♂️ I was a weird kid but I turned out 👌

I love this guy so much, he makes me actually proud to live in new england, because nobody understood my love for ball pythons, everybody tried to get me put it out, saying that I had this big gigantic snake, that could kill their pets, witch were cats, & dogs, I had to fight with them telling them that if my snake was out, and a cat was around, the cat would eat the snake, the snake could not survive the claws in the mouth of a cat, and a dog will probably just ignore it, it was just crazy, I cannot wait to go and see his actual shop, that is a dream of mine, as well as getting my next bp from him, I want to clean yellow belly bumblebee, please let me know soon as you get one
