My greatest regret in my training career, short of injuries, is following this program for many unproductive years. That said, this was well before I became familiar with the principles behind resistance training so I have no one to blame but myself. My chief critique is that the volume is much too low for a hypertrophy program, unless perhaps the trainee is a very fast twitch dominant "intermediate." Secondly, the directive of only increasing load once rep performance improves, very likely leads to under training if the goal is hypertrophy. Nevertheless, thanks for the interview Steve. You are the best in the biz at assembling the greatest minds in the field of gainz acquisition.

João Pedro de Aquino After running the program long enough to develop realistic expectations about the progress you can make on it, just manipulating the sets over time and, figuring out how much volume you can preform, allows you to keep track of “Okay so last time I ran this program I started off with this many sets of this and ended with that many. However, I could have done more, so I’ll start with more sets and add two more sets at week two.” or also “Okay, so this many sets of this exercise burns me out, I’ll start with the same number of sets next time, but only add one more set every other week”. Stuff like that.

I’ve read that it is recommended to have atleast 6 months lifting experience before starting this. I am not completely new to lifting, however I haven’t lifted since weight training in high school and maybe 6 months after high school, which has been quite a few years. (This routine is very similar to schools weight routine). Is it wise to jump into this or maybe another program

All one has to do is run the numbers with respect to adding weight to the bar. It's just not feasible. For example, if you have a trainee who is bench pressing 200x10 and add a "measly" 2lbs to the bar each week, they would end up at 304x10 in a years time. Uh, no. Not likely unless they were a total beginner who had not lifted weights and that was their out of the gate performance. And, 304x10 drug-free would be someone with superior genetics as well to boot.
@ReviveStronger6 жыл бұрын
Yeah, my argument for years. No matter how hard you're trying, when you're getting advanced, the timeframe in which you can progress via load becomes longer and longer and you'll have to start implementing other tools. - Coach Pascal

Are the big natural bodybuilders big because they got strong or really is it not they are strong cause they are big. Case point Omar Isuf is strong but not as big as David Kanye, Nathan Williams or Richard Gordzecki
@ReviveStronger6 жыл бұрын
I think, relative to their size, they are decently strong but usually not crazy. That being said, I think the ones who are getting huge have the genetic predisposition of getting strong and big and both drive each other to an extent. - Coach Pascal
@smarttrainingnutrition10466 жыл бұрын
@@ReviveStronger Agreed, I think everyone should be aiming to add load to the bar over time but telling people to forget volume and focus on adding weight to the bar doesn't jive with me. I started off with strength training and it didn't make me huge and when I last ran a pure strength program and was at my strongest, I wasn't huge. In fact I have more muscle now than then. Similarly there are a lot of young guys at my gym out lifting me on Squats and deads but I see them doing little else and as a result are a lot smaller than me. You can't add weight every week indefinitely and being too focused on adding weight to the bar can lead to volume coming down to facilitate at the detriment of hypertrophy. I usually look to use double or triple progression when you can't just add 2.5kg to a lift the next week.
