You should really be looking at getting some back springs and getting that piece out from under the spring I'm sure it was put there to lift the ass end up do to soft springs but it's not the best way to do it and it will ride hard like a lumber wagon

@@phantomwalker8251 I know I know one day it will be inside. Unfortunately I do not have the space or the resources for a shop at my place. Id love to be one of the YTers that have a big garage to put things in. Until then, if it ever happens, stuff will just have to stay outside. It really sucks.

At one time I owned a 1968 Chevelle SS 396 without the original engine and a 283 in it's place. It was a four speed with a 12 bolt posi, it was a snap purchase when a 1967 Firebird bought as a parts car had that 6 cylinder overhead cam debacle in it. When I ran into a telephone pole with my 1968 Firebird was why I bought it. I used it for a trade in that I had to wait down the street to let it cool down before I could trade it. Needless to say I had to bite the bullet but the Chevelle turned into my hunting and fishing car that would go pretty much anywhere.I was later forced to sell it when I had three cars and move out of state along with my beloved Firebird. Still miss that one after 40 years.

My dad had one of those when he married my mom, same colour too. He got rid of it after my brother was born in 1974. My mom wasn't interested in putting two toddlers in the back seat of a two door car. I don't think he ever forgave her for the pressure to get a sedan. I hope that you guys get it to mint condition.

I just want to say that is one very desirable car especially with the 396 4 spd. Combination . If it has the 375 h.p. version it is a total screamer all 375 h.p. that I am aware of had the 4 spd. I had a dodge charger 68 and 69 with the 440 eng. and the 375 h.p. 396 could stay with me if driven right. The 375 hp 396 was rated at 425 hp in 1965 no changes were made to lower hp but ralph nader complained so much about certain high performace cars that manufacturers had to lower hp ratings so people could get decent insurance prices.nader also ruined Corvairs reputation (corvair corsas are fantastic cars especially with a v8 midship). My friend had a 1967 chevelle ss 396 ci 375/425 horse motor 4spd. 3.73 positracion car. Propably the fastest factory car that I have ever ridden in but it it had little 14 inch redline tires so i can't say for sure. The hi po motor has a holley 780 carb.. rectangular port heads and a solid lifter cam it was the engine that replaced the 425 h.p. 409 in 1965. Thanks for listening. Will

You guys and your starting fluid, if you only knew the damage it does you wouldn't use it. The problem is it drives the cylinder pressure sky high. That psi has to go somewhere and that is breaking the ring lands on the pistons. Starting fluid is a engine builders dream.

Omg have you ever worked on a classic car??? Use a gas rag or he’ll even dump gas in the carb but starting fluid is bad ! Almost as bad as you racing the motor of a car that has not ran or had an oil change since 1988. Just say But your content is great Spending time with pops is worth more then even that awesome car.
