Well Elmo ‘this Guy’ Karjalainen, based on your video and in your advice, I bought one of these Revv, and I must say the pedal is really great! Thank you so much!!!!

Had to see what you thought of this again. Thinking of using as a preamp into a power amp and ir direct into interface for recording. Thanks for always being honest kind sir! Hope you and yours are well sir.

Thru my AKGs that pedal sounds outstanding.. Really sounds good. As a Preamp is sounds good in the loop too. I noticed after you were done talking and you said you had to re route some stuff, it sounded great while you were just noodling. Especially if you were still using the pedal in the loop. Lot's of clarity and yet gain. Very cool. Makes those stacked singles sound almost like EMGs or something. Wow. Very cool.

Another informative video Elmo but you know you'll just go back to your fender pedal because you've got the sound you want, which I like as well. I play through a clone dod 250 which I built myself so I could tailor a couple of capacitors into a 1987. I really like that mahogany strat though, could you please send it to me with your left hand attached, oh and chuck the right hand in as well, just coz they come better as a pair and maybe some hair as well coz mine is falling out. Joking aside keep up the good work, I really enjoy your vids.

Seems like it takes a bit more work to achieve the desired tone when used as a preamp. In front of amp position sounds like it gets you the typical Revv tones effortlessly and you're not fighting a volume/hiss/feedback battle.

Hi Elmo. Have you ever thought about doing a video about the Boss ME-80? Seems so cool, because it's cheap, but contains all Pedals one needs and they are like real pedals with knobs.

Hi Elmo i have a boss dd3 and i am trying to setup the delay like Yngwie Malmsteen and i could not do looks like you have the same setup can please help. You know the how to play fast by guitar world. Thanks
@MrPolevaulter5 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Are you trying to get the stereo thing he does? If not, just add some delay with 400-500 ms time, and not too many repeats. That's roughly what I use .
@jeffrivera65 жыл бұрын
is the revv g3 pedal digital? because it has a slight delay when i turn it on..i mean, when playing clean chords then you turn the pedal on, youll notice a slight delay on the volume of the distortion..like the problem with some digital multi-effects where theres a delay in sound when switching effects, like the sound is cut. but in the revv g3, the sound is not cut but it starts with a very low volume for i dont know how many milliseconds, but its super noticeable..

i agree with your impression or opinion of it being good for rhythm tones. it seem a bit to thick for leads at times your runs seemed to lack the same note articulation that the fender over drive gives. But while chugging away on chords it had great note definition which was nice and odd st the same time that it didn't shine through with you lead runs. it also seemed to have a bit more clarity with it in front in stead of in the loop.

Hey Elmo, i saw in the video you made very good sounds with revv and the vintage marshall, could you help me a little? specifically I have the marshall sv20, to which input of the amplifier did you fasten the guitar? I also saw how you connected revv to fx loop ... still, how much intensity did you set loudness 1 or loudnesa 2? can you tell me a little information about setting up revv? thank you ... Keep forward your videos are awesome, and each one video have something to teach me :)
@MrPolevaulter3 жыл бұрын
Sure. I connected the guitar to the Revv, and from there to the high treble input of the Marshall. I might have tried bypassing the preamp of the Marshall, and gone straight from the Revv to the return of the amp, but I can't remember.

Great sounding pedal, even if the aggression red position scoops too much mids to my ears. On the other hand, I prefer your Marshall sound with the Malmsteen's overdrive.

Great vid, as always. Although I didn't like the pedal. I think is too mid scooped. The Fender is much more open and less fizzy. But I'm an 80's guy.

I get what you´re saying. It´s more geared towards modern metal players. It´s got a much more "djent-y" sound, which obviously requires more high-end since lower tunings are often used.. It sounds brutal, but it´s not for me either. Megadeth´s tone on the Clash Of The Titans tour in 90/91 is sort of my "standard" as far as heavy guitar goes. Even though they played through Bogner Triple Giant preamps and a VHT2150 poweramp, the sound they got basically remind me of the sound you get if you boost a JCM800 with either a clean boost, or something like a Boss SD-1/Ibanez Tube Screamer.

I honestly didn’t like this pedal through my EVH 5150 III Stealth. It was very boomy (even with bass down) and very oversaturated. By the time I got the saturation and boominess tamed, there was barely enough gain to play blues, much less metal. I went with the Wampler Phenom instead. It hits like a hammer, and notes are crystal clear. There is no boominess or mud.

Considering that the amp this pedal is based off of costs over 2 grand, it’s really not THAT expensive. Plus, the G3 sounds exceptionally better than most distortion pedals.
