I was there to witness the Great Calgary flood, and lost my job due to lack of work after BillC-68 , shortly after the fires at Fort McMurray. And Rex Murphy so eloquently orator summed up Canada to all Canadians. Rex, you will be deeply missed, as our boat master for Canadian values has been launched on his final journey home. Rest in peace, yea of Solomon's wisdom and speech. You will truly be missed.

I have read much on CBC about "Canadian values". Some (many)suggest there is no such thing as Canadian values. That thought offends me. I was an American with American values. Now, I am a Canadian with Canadian values. Canadian values both exist and are unique. Thank you for giving us one example of a Canadian value Rex. I would love to see you list five or six more in an effort to define what Canadian values are.

I don't think that people's compassion is limited to tragic events in Canada. When something truly awful happens in the world we ALL have sympathy - at least those Canadians that have sympathy for unfortunate Canadians will show the same for citizens of other parts of the world. It should overrule common sense, however!!
