You made a good recommendation with re: to testing out the camera. I should have done that first before getting the wiring in place, trying to make a suction cup work that didn't work. After plugging it in (per your suggestion on this great tutorial) before finalizing the set up process, learned my camera doesn't work so will be shipping it back to Rexing for a replacement. Wanted to add something that may be helpful to your viewers. I thought the camera was defective but it ended up being the cable which was replaced and now everything works as intended.

Best video I have found for the installation and I have looked at well over a dozen. You hit on something I was having a problem with which was I bought the suction cup mount and it would not hold to my windshield at all. Very frustrating. It could be the angle of my windshield and you talked about the different angles of windshields in your video so am going to try the basic adhesive option and am hopeful that will work. Excellent video, thank you

I would redo the rear wiring as your wire is in front on the headliner airbags and can interfere in the airbag deployment. I would somehow fish it towards the middle of the headliner behind the headliner airbag.

Interesting, I didn't realize that, either. I plugged it in to make sure it looked good and did that "naturally." But in theory you could flip it in a video editing software. Ir's not difficult to flip a picture, but you are correct that it is easier for it to already be the correct way.

Hi, can you give me the resolutions and frame rates of the 4K on the V1GW-4K, I can't find them anywhere, only 4K and that does not tell you much with the amount of fake 4K advertised, even the Rexing VI-4K is not 4K but the VI-Max is true 3840x2160 , but I can't find out about this one.Thanks.
@Milledge.Austin Жыл бұрын
The front-facing camera is true 4K at 24 fps. It has 3 levels you can record at (1920x1080, a middle level, and then true 4K), but it films at 24fps, which I know isn't the greatest for trying to slow things down for frame-by-frame in most instances, but that is what they have given. The back camera is a constant 1920x1080 at 24fps. I also just double checked by bringing in footage from this morning to a 4K timeline I have set up.

This is a great video but I have a question on something the instruction manual in the box does not seem to address. Is the use of the thin electrostatic piece absolutely necessary or just an optional enhancement? Does it remain in place permanently? What is its purpose?
@Milledge.Austin2 жыл бұрын
I don't think it's 100% necessary. I saw a couple similar videos where they didn't use it. Mine has remained in place and seems to be holding strong. It might just be an added layer of making sure the camera stays mounted to the windshield when dealing with temp changes and condensation.
@greenerpastures35282 жыл бұрын
@@Milledge.Austin Thank you very much again. The more I think about it, the more perplexed I am as to why the official instruction manual in the box omits coverage of this part and step. Your explanation helps but I wish the instruction manual had made this clear from the getgo.

@@Milledge.Austin Well, yesterday I completed the installation and now look forward to taking the car out for a drive once the weather clears up. Your video proved quite helpful in providing a detailed walkthrough of the process and filled in some gaps (no pun intended) on points that in my view should have been addressed in the instruction manual. On my car, I did encounter a few spots where it is all but impossible to tuck the cable neatly inside the gaps, thus leaving exposed cable in a few places but overall the look is not too bad. In the process, though, I had a second question on something that does not seem to be covered in the instruction manual. On the right side of the main unit, there is a circular port between the micro-USB port and the other circular port in front for the rear camera cable. It has no label or icon and, unless I missed it, is not mentioned in the manual. Do you know the purpose of this port? Is it perhaps a secondary power port of some kind? Or does it serve some other purpose? I continue to find it curious that the instruction manual that comes with the equipment appears to be silent on such things. Anyway, once thanks for your video and insights.

I’m sorry but 4K is the UHD option in resolution? And I noticed it’s kinda laggy and slow when on that option. Hi Austin, Thanks for your video on this dashcam, Truly helps. I have two questions for you. 1. I have a Toyota Highlander and that came with a factory fitted dashcam. I have ordered this Rexing V1PGW camera with sole intention of using it as rear camera. Do I need to be aware of any setting or installation trick to use this as a rear camera as this unit is not sold as rear camera? 2. Does it have any setting to keep the lcd display off, while I am driving. I want to avoid a light distraction reflecting on my rearview mirror. Regards
@Milledge.Austin2 жыл бұрын
Hi Rajat, you are welcome. Do you plan to use the main camera as the rear-facing camera? It might be difficult to position it depending on the materials on the back end of the Highlander. As for turning the screen off, yes. On the same menu page as formatting the card (second page, I think), there is an option for turning the LCD screen off after 3, 5, or 10 minutes. I know it’ll be annoying for that short amount of time, but it is an option.

I’m not impressed with color saturation at any resolution. In addition to , 30fps is too minimal. 60fps should should be an option in order to loose the blur. What you have to keep in mind, if you were in an accident, impact or fast motion / jerk of the camera will have practically unreadable image / video at 30fps. 2 of 3 cameras i have with 60fps , the video in way smoother.
@Milledge.Austin2 жыл бұрын
Agree to disagree. From the testing and viewing I've done, the color saturation is fine to me, and 30 fps has been fine in my opinion. 60 fps would be nice, but 30 is just fine to get details needed if an accident happened. Considering how bad security cameras have been and they have been used for identifying and convictions, I'm ok with this setup.
