My holy grail would be a Ferrari red custom made Jackson from pre 1986. One humbucker and a kahler tremolo (even though I prefer Floyd Rose systems !) It my grail guitar because it was mine from a guitar teacher that ordered it and only paid for half and left town ! I was a regular customer at the store where "Ivan" worked and the owner said if I wanted "Ivan's" Custom ordered Jackson I could have it for $600 which was the amount owed to pay it off and have it shipped . I played that guitar for many years before selling it . Biggest mistake I ever made (and I sold a Marshall Plexi for $500 in the 1990's that a collector told me later was one of a handful of that exact amplifier !) and I would trade all my gear right now to if I could get that exact guitar back ! I have a decent amount of gear too ......like a Kramer Baretta ....and a hand built ESP ......a Crate Stealth 50 watt head with a 2-12 cabinet with EV12L' s a DOD Corrosion series Metal FX95 and a cheap digital delay and a strat kit guitar loaded with a Floyd and a 1990's Seymour Duncan 59' wound by Maricalla Juarez . Easily a couple grand worth of "collectibles" I've had for many years ! Everyone that plays my guitars all love the low action without string buzz ......and nothing I have now or have ever had since (more guitars bought, played and eventually sold (or stolen) than I can remember !) has come near the absolute perfection of that Jackson original super strat ! It almost played itself and you could put the action so low there was almost no resistance at all to where you would raise a little just to feel the string hit the fret ! When I owned that guitar I played out with my band and used a Marshal 50 Watt head through a 1960 slanted cabinet with celestions or a Solid State Laney linebacker 100 watt head through the same cabinet that nailed the George Lynch,Randy Rhoades sound to a tee .......without a distortion pedal ! That Laney amp was one amp I also wish I still had ......! Some of the bands we played shows with I was good friends with and played with several in side projects and every single person I ever let play through My Jackson into my Laney with just a cord .......no external effects (amp had reverb If I remember correctly !) offered me money and increased the offer when I laughed ! I finally sold it to one of the better musicians in my town .......his name was Tim Grobi (I think that's his last name !) in Ft. Myers Florida ! That was 30++ years ago ! Tim ......if your reading this..........I want that guitar back (lol !) and would pay dearly to have it back !

I'm no shredder by any stretch but I'm a 48 year old guitar player who also had a Great White Buffalo guitar. People who are Les Paul devotees tend to disagree without even holding what had been labeled at one time the "Les Paul Killer" the boat anchor of a heavy ass guitar 1978 Yamaha SG 2000, I played this heavy bastard at periods throughout my childhood and early 20s because my uncle bought a beautiful tobacco sunburst model new in 79 0r 80 and had never parted with it, several years ago he said he was thinning out his collection he is getting older and his health is declining and he remembers how that particular guitar was always my favorite, even given the choice between a PRS, one of the very first Wolfgang models from the early 90s, a very nice G&L Leo Fender Strat I always went back to that extremely heavy, sustaine for days, and very competitive guitar that Yamaha had put a lot of thought into and the craftsmanship was 2nd to none. He gifted me that guitar that he could have easily gotten $3,000 for to a number of different people and I was very appreciative because for years Japan was the only place to find one on ebay and shipping was expensive and most weren't even close to the condition of my uncle's. I will never part with it and I play it often with great joy. It's an outstanding instrument and I still have a tendency to overlook others when I pick up to play.

It's literally a launch model 87' 550 before they made any of the 90's updates to it but with only one difference, the neck joint being a traditional Fender block rather than the Tilt and the jack being a Gibson style rather than the barrel. Otherwise same guitar. Same factory, same wood, same hardware, same pickups, same insanely good craftsmanship, same everything, It's a decade older than me and I have it since I was 14, but one thing for sure is that I'll never sell it, ever. In the early 2000's these could be had for $250-$400 on ebay. I swapped several of them. All great playing guitars. I just felt they didn't have a lot of character sonically even swapping out pickups, but that's probably more related to the player... The neon flip flop purple was awesome. You could also get USA made 700 series RG's with DiMarzio pickups back then in the $300-$500 range. I miss those days.

I had a Jem 77FP back in 1989... VERY STUPIDLY sold it for car insurance money and I miss it every time I pick up a guitar. It played fantastically. Years later I had a cheap RG- one of the ones GC was selling for a couple hundred in 2001 so RG125-ish or something like that and did not like it at all so I traded it away for an Epiphone LP Standard. A couple years ago I got an 87 RG550 but someone had replaced the Edge trem with a BC Rich licensed Floyd and it did not cut it. Ended up trading it away for an older Road Worn 50s Strat which I love. I still miss my Jem- those old Jems and RG550/560/570s are just great guitars. People seem to think highly of the Genesis ones also. The Red Bishop ACCU-LOCATOR (RBIA1) makes setting the intonation simple (even for me!)

Dude! Those are the deal man. I wish I would've kept mine instead of beating it like a rented pack mule! I used my guitars like tools. When I was playing out from 85ish to 91 - I seldom cleaned them, just changed the strings and tweaked the set-up. I really beat some Charvel, Jackson, and Ibanez guitars that were very nice, but traveling and "volunteer commando roadies" (beggars can't be choosers) sealed their fate. This was a nice "flashback" for me! I always love your playing. You got that greasy rock swagger that just grooves man! Keep doing the good stuff!!!!!!!!!!!!🤘😁🤘

I had one back in 93 and thought the neck was a little to thin for me at the time. Wish I would have hung onto it now, as I am a bit of a masochist and do not have a guitar with a trem system that tortures me when a string breaks, causing all other strings to go out of tune. Maybe I will try to pick up another one and this time have an agreed upon "safe" word....
