I too just packed-up my studio & left Los Angeles a few weeks ago. The crime & expense just weren’t worth it anymore. You can’t go-out at night anymore. A fresh start in a small-town in Northern Illinois is just what the doctor ordered. I hope the change of scenery is good for you & your girl too. If you’re not comfortable you can’t focus.

Had a starter studio in our first home in NorCal- sold it all, moved to europe for a year. Then bought a house in Kentucky, put together a fantastic recording space, with amazing vocal booth. Sold that for a mini farm in rural western Kentucky. Built an amazing studio from scratch, loved it! Sold the farm due to family reasons, now living with my son. My studios have gone from interesting, to amazing, to a cubby in the kitchen now. The key takeaway from all this was it doesn’t matter where you are. Make music, take any space you can, and make the most of it. Good luck where you land. And i know you’ll never stop building studios. I know I’ll build more before I’m done!

I visited Mansfield last year on the way back from Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, we called in to check out the Ohio State Reformatory (Shawshank film location). I had no idea of the musical connection even though I have watched a lot of your videos on KZbin! I'm a Brit over in Ohio on a military posting and have taken advantage of my time in the USA to check out the USA's rich musical heritage. We're in our last few months before we return home and are on a Mississippi road trip exploring musical history (currently diverted to Nashville to check out Gibson). Good luck with your move.
