I love using rice water. Great video! Just a word of caution because rice water can be just as harmful as it is beneficial, especially if you have tight curly or kinky hair. A lot of people don't realize rice water behaves like a protein treatment and can lead to breakage and shedding if you do not maintain a proper moisture/protein balance. Moisturizing is key. If you have protein sensitive hair you may want to use rice water as a monthly or special hair treatment when your hair feels limp or over moisturized.

Thank you for the advice.

Thank you for this! All the videos I came across last year were full of praises and recommendations for regular use but hardly any caution. I found when I used it, it felt more like a protein treatment and I felt my hair needed more moisture.

@MichelleIjeoma6 жыл бұрын
Jojo Tàbi hey love! Rice water penetrates your hair strands to strengthen and repair your hair. Essentially, it behaves like a protein treatment, which can dry out your hair and cause breakage with overuse and in the absence of good moisturizing practices. People with straight or wavy hair don’t necessarily need to use moisturizing deep conditioning treatments after using rice water because of their hair structure and the ability of sebum to travel down their strands to maintain a protein moisture balance with their hair strands. Kinky curly girls have to follow up with a moisturizing conditioning after using rice water because it’s harder for sebum to travel down our strands maintain that balance. All you have to do to maintain balance when using rice water is use a moisturizing deep conditioner. That way you experience the benefits of using rice water without hurting your hair. I hope that all makes sense! I was rambling. Please feel free to let me know if you have any other questions.

I wanted my hair to LOOK better. turns out after only the first time it was SOFT DARKER no dandruff and it grew FAST. its actually easier for me to care for my hair when its short. so if u want your hair to grow like weeds... use rice water once a week

@Alicia-ee4ju6 жыл бұрын
one cup of rinsed rice add in about 3 cups distilled water. that's the kind I drink also. let sit over night as u apply it let it drip a big pot or bowl and keep using it over and over with a cup. let it sit on your hair like thirty min. the longer the better I guess.

This is a great example of how if our 4c hair has the correct nutrition, moisture, etc. It's very easy to deal with. 4c hair that is well taken care of will appear just like naturally curly hair. Our hair only shrinks, and becomes extremely coiled after its shampooed. If your hair is ALWAYS in this state then it's crying out to inform you its starving, and dehydrated. Once you feed, and hydrate 4c hair ( CORRECTLY ) then you alleviate it from being in such a difficult state. You also don't need a plethora of products to care for it. Natural oils, a great conditioner, and teas, or water is enough to handle stuff.

I noticed that Amla is in the shampoo that you used. I love to use Amla powder both in my juice smoothies (because is very high in anti-oxidants and in vitamin c) and in my diy hair oils. It can really help to make 4c hair much more manageable. You can buy food grade amla powder online. You simply mix it (infuse) with argan oil (my favorite hair/skin oil- I buy my argan from Bulk Apothecary. com at a good price) strain the powder out after a few days and use the oil on moist hair. I use about two to three tablespoons of the amla powder to about 10-16 oz of oil. It can be added to any hair oil that you choose and it will soften the hair and make detangling of the hair a lot easier. I knew that it was working when my kids asked me to use it on their hair to make combing out their hair less trying. I had seen amla in several varieties of indian hair oils and products so, since I already had been using it as a dietary superfood in my smoothies, I decided to try to make my own hair concoction and it turned out to be a very helpful hair product to have on hand. Thanks for sharing your experiences. Blessings and true Light sister :)

I left the rice water in my hair and sealed with vit E-, olive-, castor- and amla oil, "for the smell" and rinsed it out on sunday late in the afternoon. Treu out these days I scarfd my head with satin. I rinsed with vinigar and than left my conditioner for 15 to 20 min. I was amazed for the faster growth. A week earlyer I did the same only with cooked rice water. Same affect but no smell. Thanks for the video, was fun. Your hair looks great. ;-)

naturalle d She's a very honest lady and I understand why they're expensive, I mean she makes the products by herself, mabey with the help of some family members, and it's a small business. So her products can't be dirt cheap or she wouldn't be making a good profit and natural ingrediants are expensive themselves. I plan on buying her shampoo bar, the price really isn't that bad in comparison to some of the other natural hair products with actually sketchy ingrediants that you can find in the beauty supply store or walmart for that matter. I just want to support a black owned business and support someone who actually cares about the health of the consumer's hair.
@8ThatUp26 жыл бұрын
Graceful Knots 22 Century Women makes the products herself, you should check out her youtube channel. Her 2 daughters' hair is very long and healthy as well. I just want support a fellow women of color who's trying to do her thing by getting other youtubers to review her products the way they review everyone else's. I mix my own shea butter, clay masks, and leave ins at times but there's nothing wrong with supporting other people, especially our own people.😂But I understand where you're coming from, some of these companies that target natural haired black women are trying to scam us but if you can watch one of her youtube lives, you'll see that she's very genuine and her husband majored in buisness, if I'm not mistaken, so he's working along with her as well.

You may need to do protective styling for a while. You will need to moisturize your hair with water and then leave in conditioner. I have been taking Dr. Axe collagen and it helping to thicken my sides and with length. Drink enough water daily and improve the diet by eating more fruits and veggies and less sugar. It's also possible you have vitamin or mineral deficiencies (iron, vitamin D, potassium, B12, etc.), so take a multivitamin.

A shortcut, get EM as in Effective microorganism, it's used in organic agriculture and Korean Natural Farming, basically, it enables positive microbial activity so the bad one can't move in. It has a lot of other positive aspects for the body, house, and soil. I use it for when my scalp is flaring due to Seborrheic dermatitis and unlike the pharmaceutical shampoo it doesn't dry out the scalp. It's affordable considering you only need very very littleto dilute in spring water. Or you can look up on youtube, Chris Trump has the best tutorial to make E.M. you can store for a very long time.

This intrigues me. I've already decided to try a rice water regimen when I take my hair down, and this kinda has me excited. Would you suggest starting with the rinses first or the shampoo and conditioner? First time visitor, and now subscriber. Loved your energy and personality. Great job.

Idk how I feel about purposely putting all the microbes on my scalp .... letting it sit like that would permit hella microbial growth and it smells. Thanks for keeping it real.

😍You did a really great job ! I also use rice water but after boiling the rice. Do you think we can cook and eat the rice after soaking it in water for two days ? I would like to try this version too but I'm scared that I will have to throw away my rice. I really loved your rice shampoo and conditioner review too ! I think I'm going to give it a try.
@CravingCurlyKinks6 жыл бұрын
Hi, I think if you leave the rice in the water for a few hours, you can cook it and enjoy. But if you do it overnight or for several days it starts to smell bad. ❤️😘

Hi ! Thank you ! I think I will let the rice soak in the water for two hours and see what happens. Thank you so much for answering. 💕

Are we the only ones concerned about wasting good rice?? Lol. I would also want to use it after but if it's been soaking for days, idk

UnivHair Soleil English hi beautiful QUEENS I have been doing this for four months now and I soak my rice for two days then after I throw out the stinky rice😁 I am glad I started using rice water rinse😊 wish you all the best🌷
@Stoic20006 жыл бұрын
After soaking for 2 days you are not going to want to eat that rice. Your sense of smell is there to aid your survival. This is a great example 😂.

You are so pretty!!!! I did rice water rinses for some time but they didn’t really do alot for me. As my hair is already very long i’m mostly focused on volume and shine, which i now again use a mix of coffee and sage tea for.

I discover rice water for hair growth a few weeks ago whiles browsing the internet and since I cooks rice mostly everyday I decided to try the rice water rinse( I am not American and where I am from we eats rice daily lol)I research it further on Wikihow website too....my hair was at bra straps length when I started using the rice water rinse,now my hair is past bra strap heading to waist length...that's my goal,when I wash my rice I saved the water I leave it out for 3 days and they say to stop the fermentation refrigerate the water so I covered it in a bowl and put it in the fridge, weekly I do an hot oil treatment when am done washing my hair I rinse with the rice water i do it how the Tao women does it I puts it in a bowl and repeatedly poured it into my hair whiles gently massaging my hair...the water falls back into the bowl and I dip and poured my hair repeatedly until I got tired bending my head lmao....i then put my hair in a plastic cap and left it on for hours doing my chores...then i rinse it out with water and my hair is left with massive volume and growing crazy,i loves it...i do not do rice water spray, people if you wants to achieve the results don't do short cuts do it exactly like the Tao women i will soon meet waist length can't wait...happy hair growing everyone

I love all your videos. You hair is beautiful. Most of all your passion for caring for your hair is inspiring. You seem to love your hair so much. It doesn't seem like a chore to you. Your hair shows the love. I'm going to try the diy rice water rinse. currently im experimenting with black tea rinse to deal with my shedding issue. I'm following your advice trying one new thing at a time. how often do you wash your hair?
@CravingCurlyKinks6 жыл бұрын
Hi, That sounds wonderful. Black tea rinse is one of my favorites. Yea for sure, one introduction at a time. I usually wash my hair every 2 weeks. :)
