Exploring Cornwall - The Chapel on Roche Rock

I am scared. I don't like heights and I have just climbed up Roche Rock and now my legs have turned to jelly!
In this episode, Mark Sellwood and I, have come to explore a medieval chapel built onto a huge lump of granite, known as Roche Rock.
On top of Roche Rock is a ruined chapel (dedicated to St Michael) which is said to have been the abode of a leper or a monk. An 1881 description of the chapel, still had a considerable portion of the masony standing and one or two windows were faily perfect, although the steps up to the chapel are roughly cut.

I've been waiting for this to be released and it didn't disappoint. The raw emotion came over so clearly. I loved the way the colour drained back into the picture when you reached the top. Got to love a precarious ladder!

I doff my comedy hat to you Sir! I used to have a customer that was ex special forces, some of the things he had to do for that could make the devil cry, but he to had a crippling fear of heights. Well done for facing your fears and thank you for doing it for us. Those views are spectacular and such an interesting place. It must have been so much easier with the lovely Mark and the calming aura he has.

@@RichardVobes Hello from NE Ohio USA. I was yelling "You can do it, Indy." the whole time. Great adventure. Can't image the building of such a structure. My knees are the same. I tried to climb a lighthouse stairs. Got up one flight to a window and could not go any further.

Oh lordy. I found myself saying don’t do it Richard while watching this. I have climbed in parks in Utah, and being on hard slippery rocks at high elevation scare the bejeebies out of me. You’re very brave. What a view at the top though! Lovely video.

Just seen this video, well done to you Richard. Very impressed for someone who suffers from not liking heights and is holding and operating a camera, holding a mic and talking to camera for the video at the same time. Multi-tasking at its best. Some time ago one of my climbing buddies on a family holiday solo climbed up this to the chapel, only using the rocks, not the ladders I believe. He is a good climber so no ropes and gear involved.

OMG, I feltevery nerve in your body, I am terrified of heights. My daughter and I went to Clifford's Tower in York , we got to the top and I froze , had to be lead down with my eye's closed praying the whole way then couldn't move for 20 mins after I got down. lol You have such courage xx

excellent location.i did think it was a location used in an Arthurian film but think I might be confusing it with St. Govan's Chapel, Pembrokeshire it was however used in the last Omen film the final conflict

Well apparently that monk really took it to heart when Christ said to Peter "Upon my rock I will build my Church..." What was w/ those old world Cornish that kept building their structures right smack on top of rocky crags like that?🤔 You were looking a little green by the end there Richard!🤢 But you are braver than I!!!! Looked like a real interesting ruin to explore but I'm not sure I could of got past my fears!😬

Don't feel too bad. My condo in Bangkok was on 32nd Floor and a friend visited and would not step foot on the balcony for fear of heights. In fact, it was a very common reaction from many visitors.I used to fly helicopter without a care in the world but I would be worse than you if I climbed a ladder 4 feet!
