I had pre-diabetes, excessive weight around my abdomen, and tried a plant based diet. Getting rid of dairy was the hardest because of how addicting it is. But, I decided to stick with it for 12 weeks. Went back to the doctor to re-do my blood work. My pre-diabetes was gone, glucose in normal range, and I had lost 12 lbs without even trying. I also noticed less headaches. I am a convert for life

Autoimmune disease is gone! I went wfpb about 6 years ago to get relief from my pain. Within one month I felt as good as I did in my 20s. 6 years later I still feel great, no meds, and I love the food! I owe my life to Dr Klapper and the other doctors that have dedicated their lives to getting the word out. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

I’m really excited about the work Dr. Klaper is doing to educate the next generation of doctors. I’ve been using lifestyle medicine to treat patients with psychiatric disorders over the last year. I’ve been able to reduce HAM-D scores, and lower medication doses with lifestyle-based interventions including diet, exercise, sleep, and stress reduction. Let’s keep this thing going.

@@mikaeldupuyaamark6374 The best evidence is with depression. However, I would apply lifestyle modification to all psychiatric disorders. In severe mental illness it can be more difficult but still worth the investment. In treating mental health disorders there is no one perfect treatment. We need to combine as many evidence-based methods as possible to provide the most relief.

I'm a urologist in south Louisiana and have found that patients are more receptive to the vegan diet than I thought they would be. They are tired of being fat and chronically ill. Its harder to convince my colleagues.

Being from Natchitoches most of my family look at their extra weight like it's some retirement plan. Diabetes, heart disease, and so on to the point they ridicule me for not wanting to be like them. I like being rail thin for cycling so they look at my weight like it's an illness no matter the overwhelming amount of science or the vegan bodybuilders online offering free nutritional advice. Hope the good word gets around better than the biblical good word.

Oddly, I had several stones removed recently in both ureters, there were several. My urologist told my vegan diet may of been to blame... of course I'm still and forever will be vegan. Is there any remote truth to that?

@@priscillatellez2829 Avoid stone-forming foods: Beets, chocolate, spinach, rhubarb, tea, and most nuts are rich in oxalate, and colas are rich in phosphate, both of which can contribute to kidney stones.Jul 18, 2019. This is in the Google search engine. I age 4 beets last week, maybe should juice them if I'm consuming large quantities. It also says vegetarians have fewer stones than meat eaters. Most of us were not vegan since birth, so if anything happens it's always the plants fault and not the 37 years of eating what mom and dad told us were healthy. Nice to hear, vegan for life. Dr. Klaper knows his stuff so well. When he talks he makes it so easy to understand. It amazes me that we’ve had these great doctors sharing this information for decades. Klaper, Esselstyn, Campbell, McDougall and Ornish, not to mention Prittiken. All those years the information was ignored and thousands died or suffered from horrible diseases. Hopefully a new wave of doctors will rise up and finish the work these titans have started. I know they’re out there. I just don’t know all the names. Always love hearing from Dr. Klaper! Another great interview.

Dr. Klaper, I just want to applaud you for being the pioneer, visionary, and revolutionary thinker that you are. I was inspired by this podcast. I became vegan/WFPB this year and I am loving it. I am trying to gently persuade my family to follow suit. I think I will share this podcast and others of yours as well. I absolutely loved your reformative thinking on the healthcare system and how the government should applaud people for being healthy. Your idea of tax breaks for the healthy was spot-on. I am a nursing student and I really think your lecture could be useful to the people in my program, as it could benefit them personally as well as all of their future patients. You are a wonderful person and I enjoyed hearing this all very much!

Depression and anxiety, Gone (with the help of stoicsm!). The only side effects: I lost 20 pounds, I'm doing my part in slowing climate change and I'm more active. Both physically and sexually. Regarding his comment about the old Chinese custom of paying your doctor while you're healthy - according to one of Bruce Frantzis's books, there was a time in the 20th Century when doctors were in such short supply they started a new regime for people with chronic illnesses; each patient got a card and had to see a Taiji/qigong teacher for a lesson every day for a month. If they were still unwell after getting their card fully stamped for the month they then got medical attention. After a month of looking after themselves most of them no longer needed it.

I'm sorry to hear. How about something perhaps even better than "I told you so"? Throwing some love back at those old classmates even if they don't seem like they deserve it ... study metabolism (Philip Randle is a good start) and get better understanding of energy substrates (lipids and carbohydrates) and why they don't mix very well metabolically speaking. Consolidate circadian rhythm from proper light regime, let melatonin act in the mitochondria and enjoy life, share the love and the knowledge. Take care.

Everything I had been sharing in circles on Instagram, everything I stepped away from & tried to start with all the changes myself but how for doing so to get boycotted by the entertainment stages & ever further bullied by close ones to find no space to build all of what I could see from the troubles I faced to guide the young ones that I have the privilege and responsibility to teach - OH this only brought tears to my eyes. First we need to heal all the parents of this world, all the men & women from this world so they be able to see and hear a child voice her heart out & make changes instead of calling her “mental” “delusional” “does not respect elders”. I’d respect means following the same horrible things that landed them in rheumatoid arthritis driving them back & forth & tried to make the juices & still got called horrible things, tried to make peanut curds & cashew milks but to get forced to make the horrible foods instead & have to chose what the roof you live under chooses to do, it takes a lot of meditation to come to terms with how you aren’t able to do all you were capable of doing when you get sent this video as an example. And truly I bow down to such light in the form of humans that are swimming against a tsunami to help help help everyone not face what they faced & have to face the consequences of it to a point it gets scary to even exist in this delusional society that does every bit to demotivate you cuz you spoke up for why it was wrong to even feature in a TVC for the money to pay bills & rent in a broken system. A lot of changes one would want to make for all would get buried if not given a space to keep a bottle of self made plant based milk but be forced to have the dairy. I have have shared much on my journey from loving non veg to quitting to the difficulties of it and the benefits of it. All of that no longer exists it’s taken down. I just wanted to perform in the parks for free & help everyone with everything I can but stuck in this system where kids are having to deal with costume & makeup & junk food. And I myself have no option but for peace to just do what I can & let go. There must be places for people of all age groups that they can call home & continue with that health course or making the soups & juices without the pressure of having to have to prove why they need to do it. I shared a lot of my journey even on KZbin & it’s scary to be taken down & have close to no support in the adults that hear your intentions or actions. Really a pity a pity. This video was a ray of hope & also a good reminder why one must never chose to be an artist in a world that doesn’t value them but leaves no chance to drown their voice. Thank you for this both of you wonderful human beings thank you 🙏🙏🙏🙏

On a serious note, if I ever asked my family doctor what he thought abt a plant based diet he would look at me cross eyed. "Yes but if all patients went plant based then doctors and hospitals would be out of business!" Not really. There would definitely be less work for family practicioners and internists, but there would still be more than enough to do with all the accidents, Traumas, infections, genetic diseases, autoimmune disease, hematologic Problems, endocrinologic issues, opththalmologic Things, gynecologic stuff, pediatrics, Tumors/Cancer, allergies, etc. It's endless. Contrary, to what some People want you to believe, there's a lot more going on besides Diabetes and Hypertension/cardiovascular disease.

I am a Dietetics student at Rutgers and would love to have access to your visit Dr. Klaper. With everything that is going on, will you still present to Rutgers medical students, virtually perhaps? Is it possible that other interested Rutgers students gain access? Keep up the amazing and inspiring work, Dr. Klaper & Rich Roll 🙏

Thank you so much for your thoughtful and informative presentations. As a dentist I would like to “refine” the thoughts on chewing. As primates, old world apes and new world, we all have the same teeth. When young, our teeth have cusp-points and our chewing is mostly vertical. This is termed by D.M.Shaw: maximum shear. Good for chewing lettuce. When patient ask to chew lettuce , dentist look for a place to hide. As we age, our teeth wear flat and our chewing is more horizontal. Hence we become grinders. Harder to chew lettuce. Perhaps you remember the prisoner “Papillon”. When put on half rations, he chewed his food to a liquid, intuitively knew to maximize absorbing the nutrition. This was either maximum shear and or grinding.

Loved this Podcast - shooting straight. I am guessing the dislikes come from meat eaters 😳 I have been full vegetarian for 36 years and vegan for a couple of years. Gotta say trying to convert meat eaters to a plant based lifestyle is like trying to convert someone to stop smoking. We all have our own journey in life - your choice....

True. 36 years is pretty impressive. May I ask - what kinds of things would you have eaten prior to the last couple of years, and what you have been eating since? Supplementation ... ? Other life wisdom? Cheers.
