My favourite thing about the Mr. Poopybutthole twist is that they give it away in the opening: almost every scene in the intro is a bad experience and Mr. Poopybutthole is present for all of them. The audience should know that he must be real
@benma11163 жыл бұрын
But the problem is. We know that he wasn’t there for the actual memories. He wriggled his way into them. Using the holes in the memories. I’m pretty sure Dan Harmon said that Mr PBH is an advanced sort of parasite that instead of creating memories it puts itself in ones that have holes.

I think that certain episodes, like this one, should follow different characters in another universe... at least for the sake of continuity. Both Beth and Jerry had a lifetime of memories being in love with Sleepytime Gary and it just doesn't make sense that he's never brought up again and that this never affects their relationship going forward. It makes a lot more sense if the rest of the series is about different characters, sometimes in C-137, but not always

@@arthurfortes8398 It's explained by Morty as being "bad memories" but it seems more like the parasites just can't make memories that can make the real characters disliking them. The memories can be "bad" considering the situation (i.e. trapped in an elevator) but they're considered "good" because of the parasite characters in it (i.e. cousin Nicky saving them). Another example could be when they were captured by a nazi and were saved by the butler. Or it could be that the conclusion of the memory has to be good. The memories that proved real characters were "bad" memories with how Beth ruined Summer's eye, and how Summer kicked Morty, etc. These memories can't be considered "good" other than if you would consider any reasons for any character developent "good", so that's how Morty explained it.

There was some foreshadowing of Mr Puppybutthole not being a parasite. In the flashback of the Hulk opera, the family is not having a good time and Puppy is with them while they are having a bad time, so, If the parasites can only create good Memories, him being in a bad memory shows he is not a parasite. But, they never bring this fact in the episode, leaving the audience to think for themselves. That IS great masterpiece writing for any medium.

This is one episode where they went wrong. The parasite is supposed to give you false memories which are good. They can't remove your own memories most of which are bad. A better way to do it is to introduce sleepy Harry as the neighbour character with whom both Beth and Jerry cheat on each other (false memories) without the other person knowing.
