This is so true for me. I am horrible at explaining things and delegating. Once it’s done everyone thinks it’s amazing

Thanks! Rick is a refined, erudite and interesting speaker. Anyway, I have admired his work since 1987.

I'm an artist. And this is the hardest thing to learn when working for a client. Learning to bridge the gap between description and creation. Most often they don't have the mental training to really conceptualize what you're talking about Or to accurately describe what they want. Often I won't start a project until they give me several pages of clippings, scraps, reference images that at least hint to the scope of what they want.

This is where i failed at first, because when i used to have ideas of things i wanna do, i would just say i wanna do it and have no logic or sense of direction as to why and how versus now when i just write it on a sheet of paper and then have an argument as to how i would approach the idea and i believe this method is much more better because i can write down methods to deal with it

I loved listening to the audiobook. Rick's voice is so soothing. I could've been hypnotized during parts of it. Not to mention, the content was great.

Taught game design for 5 years. Had a rule that if anyone mentioned an idea that they weren’t gonna execute, then it went on paper and into a box and other people would get given it as a game jam prompt some day.

To understand mental model, you should have experience. If doing right thing is already automatic, you are often not able to explain it to others. Conciousness is not any more involved in doing, it happens (automatic processing). Anders Ericsson "Peak".

Rick is extremely overrated No one hits up Justin Bieber like “so how do you make millions at 12 years old?” Same answer for him as for Rick. “I don’t have any real talent, I just got lucky, and it carried me through life”

@@PrimitiveFuturologist_YTC so, he's admitting he's human? our ideas are always greater in our heads. i've sometimes been very excited about an idea for weeks, started rehearsing it out loud and before i even finished the first sentence, i knew it was shit and my brain was just playing tricks on me. people are visual creatures. you cant demand transparency and then criticize what you see. in fact, you are ironically doing exactly the same thing: he's explaining his idea to you, which you reject. if you saw it in practice, you might find it extremely effective.
