@dgeneeknapp31682 жыл бұрын
It's too bad nurses don't have welding helmets. I've been known to start crying the moment I walked off the elevator onto my unit. You can't walk around crying (it's unbelievably unprofessional) and we don't have hoods. I just had to grit it back... until I left that twisted place with a floor supervisor that caused 6 of us to leave in like 6 weeks. I was the first, and I opened the flood gates apparently. I might could've tolerated that $h!+ show of a unit, If I could've had a good cry (or at least made faces at people) under a hood.😏
@patrickcalip9482 жыл бұрын
@@dgeneeknapp3168 I'm sorry to hear it. I hope you are doing better. Your story reminds me of a video about emergency response getting a new nurse, and the entire team was crying in the open like it was another day on the job.
@dgeneeknapp31682 жыл бұрын
@@patrickcalip948 We can cry our eyes out over patient care...but not the general hellish nature of management. It can get you petted. It didn't for me. I had a small boy (despite making it a point to work ONLY with adults...it's important to know your weaknesses), that had femur surgery for cancer. I didn't like the patient controlled Morphine doses. They tried to make me feel good about it (due to the boy's history), but I was concerned. I was doing the constant vital signs and observations after the protocol ended. I caught that kid letting out a final breath and begin to turn blue. I called a code, while he still had a pulse and fisher price blood pressure. After riding the stretcher to ICU and doing compressions and getting him transferred to the ICU, I returned to the floor to finish my shift and go home. A coworker put her hand on my shoulder and asked how I was. I completely lost it. My husband had to come get me. Can you believe I was given the business about breaking down? The hospital had zero pediatric equipment, doctors, and knowledge, but there that kid was. It was all about the $$$. When it ALMOST ended in catastrophe (I say ALMOST, because SOMEONE kept it from being fatal... someone, I WONDER who?🤔😏), they went on the warpath to try to throw ME under the bus. I had the least authority and control and the most to do with the prevention of death. I had to leave. The next floor was managed by someone so bad that 5 others left after me. Oh, the manager that threw me under the bus was known by other nurses at the next facility as a complete whacko. She actually told me to NOT to do so many vital signs... because it "makes us look like we're too busy and short staffed." Those were vital signs that WERE ORDERED by doctors. Imagine if something happened, and it could be shown I didn't follow doctor's orders. Believe it or not these managers are RNs too. I didn't have trouble with the rigors of the pandemic. That's just nursing. The floor is short staffed because people are ill. Common thing. The floors are full. Common thing. You don't get lunch. Common thing. I tend to think it's the younger staff that was losing their minds. They got used to 4-5 patients and wound up with 8. That used to be my nearly every day. Night shift would have 10. For me, it's always been the rotten nurse managers that I couldn't handle. I can handle about anything that is inherent to nursing, but managers are something no amount of training, expertise or even experience can help with. Just when you think you have seen EVERY neurotic, half assed, incompetent type of manager, you get one that makes every other insane woman look much more capable. 🙄

R.I.P. Safety Man. You were making great progress on the job site, but on the homefront you fucked up with the reverse psychology on the wife. The law can't prove she did you in but we all know it. Thanks for the fun times and attempting (and failing miserably might i add) to keep us all safe!

Chances are it worked. Women have a need to be right about everything. It's very easy to play on that. I've been doing it for almost 20 yrs now.

Reverse psychology on women is stupid easy. The people that have a hard time using it are insecure and the undisciplined.

Never had that experience while my 12 year career in industrial. As a bisexual that was okay by me. Dealt with those who gave a damn about who I slept with and then those who didn’t. The ones who made decisions didn’t bother me. Although when I had my partner come out to middle of nowhere from back home gossip ensued around deep east TX. That being said I didn’t bother explaining myself to anyone even those who on their own accord came up to me at work and asked me and I said that has nothing to do with work but they assured me they had my back if anyone decided to make an issue out of it. 🤷🏻♂️ said “I appreciate that but lets get back to work”. Then again some jobs others threatened to lynch me and they found out by those friends for those threats against me. It happens lets be real but youre spot on about companies only using it for cover. Anyways love your videos I get a laugh out of it and most others don’t understand it as I transitioned into consulting but it sure does remind me of the good times just sitting on iron or slugging it through the rain overnight pulling in distributor (utility) cables off a giant spool 🧵 truck or reaming rigid pipe (pun intended). Hell someone just asked me why I had a hard hat hook and a job box still in my truck and I said it is always good to have a trade never know if it hits the fan and you need work always stay prepared. Stay safe out there and keep on keeping on yall are the back bone of our infrastructure and manufacturing without y’all in construction and energy none of this is possible I know it and yall do too. Shout out to my fellow ⚡️out there

Safetyman! I don't ordinarily root for you, but you went above and beyond the call of duty today. All that's going to go out the window by lunch, but at least for the next few hours, you can feel good that you took the W.
