I ran Mosquito Pass back in July with MHJC. Airing down is definitely the call. Not too challenging, but I would emphasize that the road gets pretty shelfy past the intersection with Birds Eye Gulch. If you hate shelf roads, not for you. Otherwise, the views are great and the driving is pleasant if you’re aired down. We turned around due to the snow on the way to Alma back in July and rain Birds Eye Gulch down. Great, very different, trail, with lots of trees and water (at least back in July). Gets you back to just outside Leadville and a good option if you’d like to head back to that side of the pass. I finally met an actual CT owner today and he couldn’t have been more positive about his truck. He’d had it only a month, so only driven on roads and the beach so far, but he’s got off-road plans. He’d driven from Seattle and I met him at the new superchargers in Park City and he also really enjoyed the highway experience. For all the haters, the fact that you can run real trails and also have a comfortable ride with easy charging for a thousand-mile trip is pretty unique. Not sure how I feel about the looks, but Tesla tech does still seem to be ahead of every other EV and there’s no question that the charging network is still the only viable solution for long-distance EV travel IMO. Please keep these trail videos coming. They are great.

Well that brought back memories! If I remember, it was around July of 1995 when I tried to do that trip in my 1986 Toyota Xtracab 4X4 F.I. 4 banger. I had no problem reaching the top from Leadville, but the road was blocked on the way down to Alma by a huge snow drift that covered a couple hundred feet of the road, so we returned via Leadville. I do remember the pass was in the clouds and the air was full of electricity (that buzzing sound with hair at attention) so we didn't stick around long enough to be electrocuted! Yes, Leadville says it is the highest city in the country, but Alma bills itself as the highest incorporated "town" in America at maybe a football field's length higher than Leadville.

@@geraldfischer6049 what did it say to you that you misquoted?
@is65663 ай бұрын
@rich… Misquoting a pass is like cheating. There are only two cases where you could technically misquote a pass. #1: You misquote it by trying to use in an event the pass was not issued for; and #2: Misquote the date or time by trying to use it on a different date/time of the proper event. Both are practically cheating because you try to get into an event the pass is not valid for. 😃

It was on the offroad screen, but I'm guessing you never saw this? Just think it deserves to be said, to be fair to the Cybertruck it was operator error...5 months and you never found this? Love the channel BTW, just wanted to clear the FUD
@jakeblakeley22463 ай бұрын
He probably meant that it still rolls back slightly despite this mode. At least in our Model Y, the hold mode still takes a 1/4 rotation to connect the brakes on a steep incline. Whereas our Rivian connects immediately in hold mode. They might have fixed it for the Cybertruck, but if its still a 1/4 rotation or so, that's the difference of slipping off a rock and not

With good tires the weight would help too, but it would probably be a big fiddly going forward / reverse so often. Might take a while for someone to make a plow mount though. Plows are also 12v, the cybertrucks low voltage electric system is 48v, so you'd also need a beefy step down converter. Not sure the electric system would be happy with that load.
