I have a suggestion of how I would like to get clickers explained to me. First, assume the suspension is perfectly set up. Then explain what we could expect to happen in different scenarios if a clicker is turned. Ex too much fork rebound damping would make the bike behave like this this and that in corners, braking, acceleration, bumps, whoops, turns etc. Thanks for really good vidoes!

Great series🙂Can you do one discussing the affect that comp has on rebound please as they are linked in some way right? so if i have a very soft comp i need to understand what happens if i slow or speed up my rebound ..

20:58 I was always under the impression that going in or the rebound is what slowed it down since it would be restricting the amount of oil flowing as the fork decompresses and going out on the rebound would speed it up due to less restriction

Edit: just noticed ep 3 you dove into oil volume 😊. Love that yal are willing to educate the general public and share your knowledge. Do y’all ever discuss whether there’s an ideal clicker range and how that correlates to when a shim change is needed? Cheers.

Thank you for tuning in and sharing your feedback. We briefly touched on what scenario(s) calls for a valving adjustment in Episode 4 of Chassis vs Suspension. Fast forward to timestamp 18:58 for more info.

Yes. Agreed. A lot of what we covered applies to shocks as well. But I (JB) wanted to make sure we did different episodes for forks vs shock to ensure I don’t forget anything important

A reminder to those watching this owning older (pre-2005 or so) bikes, on some models the compression clicker is on the bottom, the top is the rebound. (say like on KYB 46mm open chamber forks)

Next video is rebound? I ask because in my experience adjusting to the extreme ends of compression will have an effect on how the motorcycle will rebound or effectively follow the ground. Great video though, love how thorough it is.

I like what you're trying to do however don't use pressure and flow interchangeably. Pressure is a scalar whilst flow is a vector in that has a direction. For the best results we should utilize the active piston to push the oil through the base valve not the rod. With respect to the clicker sensitivity it'll be determined by your overall setting. A stiffer shim setting makes the clickers more sensitive because the clicker area represents a larger percentage of the total flow area, which is the shim lift area + the clicker area plus any leakage (around midvalve).

Can a valve setting specific for my weight 210 and riding style can be used on a 170 pound rider just by changing the spring rate ? This is something that Im always wanted to know and never ask. Thanks guys good videos

What is the relationship between compression clickers and rebound clickers? Should they be adjusted together?

on my forks they feel really good on squared edged bumps like roots and rocks when im leaning back with my butt over the back of the seat and my arms stretched out, the rear shock feels suppler too in that riding position......as soon as i get forward on the bike the forks feel harsh as does the rear shock when i hit roots and rocks......can you explain what i need to do to have supple forks and shock while leaning forward on the bike? my bike has conventional forks no rebound or compression adjustments.....i just use spring rate and oil height or oil weight to control those two things
