Do you know why it's not bleeding from the master as well as the slave cylinder? I thought my hose pipe was long, I shortened it as well.

Wow. Great vod ever with detail explain. I subscribed months ago and told my riding friends aleay. I have 899 and feel need to follow your way. Know your bike first, then run! I felt this from your great VODs. What size of allen wrench is used when you disengaged slave cylinder? I do want to clean that with this vod.

@@jimccc9467 That is a long ways from Murphy, NC just to get belts. You could knock it out yourselt for about 300.00 and four hours. 300.00 would more than cover the cost of belts and tools. JPDiag would reset your ECU service light.

@@RideWNC hey off topic. Just doing my belts and valves and noticed a very dirty Airbox, is there any easy way to remove it? Do throttle bodies have to be removed with it. Not really sure how it got so dirty in there, all the connections seemed sealed. Thanks.

I performed this service on my 848evo the other day, but when I pulled the slave cylinder off, it did not have that red seal, but rather a plastic bushing that rides on the push rod. Thought that was interesting.
@RideWNC3 жыл бұрын
That might not be OEM. I have done many of these and they all look the same, 848, 1098 and 1198.
@davidcourtney31355 жыл бұрын
The manual tells you to have your clutch fluid reservoir at the minimum when you have a new clutch as your clutch wears the push rod moves over to the left and pushes the slave piston back into the slave cylinder pushing the fluid back up to the reservoir
@RideWNC5 жыл бұрын
If you have a Ducati which does not need the clutch fluid replaced about every six months, you need to consider yourself very lucky.

Hello, I like your video. I have an 16 959. I want to clarify the clutch resivor is filled with brake fluid?? I’m about to do my brakes as well.
@RideWNC4 жыл бұрын
Always read the cap. Every bike you will ever own will have the proper fluid printed on the OEM cap. This is a main reason you should never replace the OEM cap with any of that bling crap.

@@RideWNC I bought it used it had rizoma Reservoir on it to does say dot 4 brake fluid on those but I didn’t want to trust it.

@@joelp1897 I personally would drain the system and flush it two or three times with new DOT4 to make sure that whatever might be in there is gone, then bleed it with DOT4. You should be able to do it with one pint of DOT4.

Hi my 01 ST4 fluid turned the same black after a day in traffic due to the heat. The fluid has only 2500 miles on it. I'm the second owner and bike was fully serviced when I picked it up from Richmond Superbike. When I do the service this week is there a DOT 4 fluid that handles heat better then others or I will be just changing out the fluid more often with the NC heat coming soon .Thanks

Motul RBF600 - But it is way too expensive to replace once a year. Replace the OEM clutch line with a Galfer. While you are at it, do the fron brake lines with Galfer. You will be surprised at the difference. Getting rid of the brake line going over the fender makes the bike look better, also.
@markmancini37192 жыл бұрын
Thanks the break lines were already switched to Galfer prior to purchase. I will pick up the Motul. Joey at Richmond Superbike had moved the line as well clean look.

I bought 3 ducatis brand new off the show room floor and the fluid was black on all 3 bikes.
@bc675 жыл бұрын
Great tutorial. Question though - if you felt that the fluid was dark because of a breakdown of the clutch line, why not change the clutch line too?
@RideWNC5 жыл бұрын
I don't think the clutch line is breaking down, I think the clutch line is too close to the engine heat. The heat is destroying the fluid... Ducati usually installs a decent braided line on most bikes. On the Superbikes with the full fairing, it is impossible to move the clutch line away from heat. A little better on a Monster.
@bc675 жыл бұрын

While you have the MityVac attached and vacuum present, squeeze the clutch lever a few times. Also bleed the master valve.
@richboss3026 жыл бұрын
So I emptied the clutch reservoir, and drained the system....... now I am unable to pull new fluid through the system using the mityvac on the slave cylinder. No fluid has emptied out of the reservoir and nothing pulls out of the slave cylinder. Any suggestions?? I also have no grab or anything on the clutch lever. It has no resistance at all.
@RideWNC6 жыл бұрын
While you pump reach up and squeeze the lever. Also you can bleed the valve at the master first, then come back and make sure to bleed it last.
I've tried both Orielly's and Autozones bleed kit. Both of them failed within first hour of usage. Orielly's lost it's seal and held ZERO pressure. Autozone's has a bolt and nut made by Satan himself inside the handle, and it's unfixable. Broke after 50 pumps. Absolute trash products. Swear to god there should be a class action lawsuit against whoever manufactures those. Ordered MityVac... Job done in 2 hours (had air in there.. a lot of air). I should've just listened to your recommendation from the start and gotten it the first time from amazon.

I feel your pain. I used to send people to Harbor Frieght to buy a MityVAC. I would tell them that the MityVAC is always on the very top shelf hidden so you will buy the HF brand vacuum pump. It is a no brainer. HF tool is 20.00 and the MityVAC is 50.00. Of course people will buy the HF tool first. This rich guy ignored me and bought the HF tool to do his V4S. Yep. It was pure crap. He limped his bike to the house and I completed the job. I am pretty sarcastic when I am working on someone else's bike. He got an ear full for about an hour. We are still friends.
