Never thought too much about the sudden appearance of raids or traders. If they properly traversed the overworld, it might actually be a fun mechanic to intercept them (with the exception of mechanoids for obvious reasons)

I also feel that it depends on the colony's size, how much you care for individual people. Start with one pawn? They're all you got so you might need to be interested in how they function. Gain 25 more pawns? It's natural that some of them become nameless cannon fodders for ya.

The point of storytellers being named character is so that you can differentiate the patterns between them. Cassandra is the basic choice that offers ups and downs in near set interval, Phoebe is more relaxed in the surface but lulls you into false sense of security, while Randy can either hit you with either a back to back to back raid or none at all for a whole year which pissess off your cannibal colony. This also allows modders to make their own storyteller and give them a name that sets them out from the others like Winston Wavees who turns the game into pretty much a wave survival tower defense.

Love that you 'worship' the RNG factor of the game as much as I do. That's why I hate the newest Civilization VI compared to V. Because the other civilizations aren't as random as before. If you meet someone, you already know what he prefers and what not. So if you had a certain playstyle you already knew if the civilization you just met will hate or like you in a few minutes. It was annoying af.

I disagree with you on the Mechanitors and Royals being mandatory, they both have downsides that sometimes you just can't bother with saving that noble from a rat again. You can still have plenty of fun just ignoring it for a later play through. Although I think the Imperial Trader only trading with Royals definitely makes it far too tempting and eventually I do have to get that throne room down

I would play the base game without any DLC on your first couple of playthroughs. Rimworld is a complex game and the DLCs can add a lot to the experience. This is great, but it can leave you feeling a bit lost if you're not familiar with the base game.

This is just as false as can be about Royalty expansion. First of all, you don't need to setup a noble leader character. But mainly, what this expansion does is integrates a sort of campaign aspect to the game. Which is what this review seems to be complaining about. When this is a really good thing. It can even be considered essential expansion to the game. If you want a more sandbox experience, then just don't use this expansion. However, in general, it is an exceptionally great addition for the game to have. Due to the base game being sort of hollow without it. All three expansions improve the game much. But really Royalty the most due to offering a more meaningful experience.
@admiraltygaming37562 жыл бұрын
Hey, thanks for the comment. I see you're also super passionate about Rimworld, which is great! I thought someone might reply with "just don't play with the royalty DLC" as a response. I just think that a game like Rimworld need's expansions that keeps the game as open and sandboxy as possible, after all it's a game that you can play for thousands of hours and have endless playthroughs. I feel like adding linear elements (like a campaign) could detract from this. I find the royalty DLC gameplay plays out much the same every single time, which got a bit tired after a couple of playthroughs. Let me know what you think.
@divergentlife4932 жыл бұрын
@@admiraltygaming3756 Again incorrect. All three exp are pretty much essential to the game. Is in core to the actual game that should not be expansions. However, they cause a major price hike for new users to get everything. If there was one to choose from, I would suggest Royalty. As it offers the most substance to the game. The game is still open ended regardless. And yes if you personally find it limits you for whatever reason, you can play without it active. But prior to Royalty, Rimworld was not a fully developed game. Still enjoyable and great for what it was. But Royalty was exactly what the game needed so that it's not just some hollow game. Both expansions after that offer real meaningful improvements. User playstyles now have effects in game. As well as new races and the whole genetics system. But all of that without Royalty is still much more shallow. It's really Royalty that gives an actual adventure aspect. This video and everything you're claiming cannot be more false. Royalty is the most important update to this game and what was very much needed for it.
@HollowBagel8 ай бұрын
@@divergentlife493 I don't agree with admiraltygaming about Royalty and Biotech restricting player freedom, but you're being too defensive about this. Yes, Royalty (and the update released alongside Royalty) added some very important core gameplay (quests in general, expanded mechanoid gameplay, various items, psycasting), but the whole nobility section, and the Empire quests, are not anywhere near as "essential" as you're trying to make them seem. If Rimworld without the Royalty quests was hollow for you, I think that says more about you and how you play the game, and isn't a reflection of most players.
