Which variation is best? They're both an amazing pec, tricep and shoulder builder (shoulder health issues notwithstanding). I personally have been gravitating toward ring dips, however. They're more difficult, as they require more stabilization in the core and upper back, but the free floating open chain action is a heck of a lot easier on my joints.
That said, if your shoulders, wrists and elbows are healthy, and you want to lock in and crush some upper body hypertrophy goals (get after those show muscles), fixed bar dips are hard to beat.

I also much prefer rings for dips, and i dont even have a matador for my rack. I have had shoulder flare ups due to benching a bit much and possibly unracking heavy weights on my own. Ive backed off standard bench press for a few weeks now and just started again with a multi bar for the neutral grip, along with keeping up with the ring dips which did not aggravate my shoulders at all. Once the monolift attachments that i ordered arrived, i will start benching again. That being said, i would highly recommend you turning your hands out for the lockout for each rep. It seems especially great for shoulder health to turn the hands out and i really feel the benefit from these. Can’t wait for my rhino belt squat machine to arrive with the rogue multi belt, which is what brought me to one of your videos today in researching what kind of strap to use since the multi belt doesnt come with a chain, and i am trying to not buy a separate belt for weighted dips and pullups. Just wanted to add that dips with fixed matador would aggravate my shoulders, while doing them with rings feels like almost the exact opposite (at least for me). Just wanted to offer my 2 cents. I like your vibe with this channel so far 👍🏾🙂

Rings are amazing for core development. I remember that ab soreness you mentioned when I first started doing ring dips.

i had sternum pain whenever i did bar dips, even without weights at times. I knew I had the strength for it and once I switched to rings I had no such issues. Rings are great in that they also provide more out of less weight

I have a question. Is going up and down the stairs multiple times a good way to lose weight? Or will it have the opposite effect by building leg muscle and causing the number on the scale to increase? Right now I'm really just trying to lose weight.

I've never seen a single lift of yours in the big 3, are you even strong???

Strong by average human standards, but not by powerlifting standards. I haven't had a bar on my back in over a year (working around nagging back and knee issues). My best big 3 lifts are 450 squat, 540 dead, 375 bench at ~245. I don't make a lot of big 3 centric videos because I don't think I can add a lot of value to the existing content out there. In short, there are much stronger experts who can give better information. I just try to talk about things where I feel I can offer a unique perspective. Hope that makes sense.
