Thanks for doing this tribute, Richard Tandy was one of the biggest influences on Jeff's creation and direction of ELO's classic sound.

Great band, I think that they're often underrated, R.I.P. Richard Tandy, as you're probably aware E.L.O. had many great tracks.

Triste. Quedó el legado. Muy buena reacción y bello gesto hacia Richard Tandy. RIP. Next Song from ELO "ALL OVER THE WORLD" gran éxito en US y UK, se puede apreciar gran trabajo de Richard Tandy

Prompted me to dig out ELO's Greatest Hits CDs Volumes One and Two! Twenty seven total bangers across two albums. Good stuff!

Richard was part of The Move with Jeff Lynne, but when Ron Wood formed Elo with these guys, he also had another glam rock band Wizard, which he wanted to concentrate his talent on so Jeff, Bev Bevan and Richard carried on to create the sound we have loved since 72 called ELO. Thank God Roy Wood stepped back and left the band as I dont think it would've been as successful, Wizard had several hits but faded into oblivion. ELO is one of the bands I've seen live on both sides of the Atlantic love them.

That's now three of the classic ELO lineup who have now passed away, Kelly Groucutt in 2009, Hugh McDowell in 2018 and now Richard Tandy in 2024. Richard Tandy was a member of the Birmingham 1960's psychedelic outfit The Uglys. Richard was also a member of the short lived Birmingham supergroup by the name of Balls, other noteable members were ; Denny Laine (The Moody Blues, Denny Laine and The Diplomats, Electric String Band, and Wings), Steve Gibbons (The Uglys, Idle Race and Steve Gibbons Band), Trevor Burton (The Move), Dave Morgan ( The Uglys, Magnum, ELO), Keith Smart (Young Blood, The Rockin' Berries, Mongrel and Wizzard), Alan White (Wings). There were great hopes for Balls to make it big, unfortunately they only released one single in 1971 called "Fight for my Country" which was written by Trevor Burton. Richard also played harpsicord on The Move's only UK chart topping single "Blackberry Way" from 1969. Richard also colaborated with Dave Morgan as the Tandy Morgan Band in 1985. Richard has left behind a legacy of great music, may he rest in peace.

Sad news, his keyboard skills were integral to the band & as JL moved away from the orchestral aspect at this time & in the 1980's he really drove the sound-especially on the Time album in 1981. Used to pretend he owned my local Tandy's Electrical store & that I might see him in there in the 1980's & early 1990's.

We had some of the early Tandy computers that our local Radio Shack sold. That's where our mind went when we heard his name.

A good suggestion would be Roll Over Beethoven by Chuck Berry, The Beetles, and ELO.

This is certainly a great track, but to highlight his playing, Tightrope would have been a great choice. Oh, and the original bassist, Kelly Groucutt passed away in 2009. When Jeff Lynne left ELO, and ELO Part 2 were playing, Kelly did a lot of vocals. (Only mentioning this because I don't think there were KZbin reactors back then!!!)
