Thanks Debbie, I don't think it's a top tier video... mostly dumpsites and overgrown plantlife. The next one is almost all river walking, and it's more than halfway finished... should be out in 2 weeks (by which time I'll have also edited at least another one, I'm trying hard to get ahead to avoid having any long gaps before Christmas). 🙂

On a difficult day after my mother’s death, this video was a quiet joy. It calmed me. The waterfall in the beginning made me happy (waterfalls are my sacred places) and the flowers are amazing. I'm so sorry for your loss Thea, and glad that my video could offer a little respite. I did end up carrying the splashback more than half the way back to the cars, for Phil. I think he intended it for his shed, though I haven't seen it in his video segments there, it's probably in a pile of project material awaiting inspiration. Waterfalls are happy places for me too, I hope you'll enjoy my next video; it has plenty of weirs 🙂

It was certainly a good visit; albeit this site didn't really deliver as well as it has done before, and since. It will be great to see you both in November, I hope I can think of some good places for us to visit. I recently found a likely looking site on google maps, satellite view... but it's quite a trek, and I haven't visited it yet... for all I know it might have been built on since the Google satellites went over. Hope you're both well, and that the weather is kind when you visit. 🙂

Tom, Even your less than ideal days give me a sense of calm. You had company, sharing can be rewarding. The Sheep are softly grazing, what a bucolic sight(site). Your recovery is a joy to me, your too young and dedicated to let illness stop you. I have discovered, barring serious illness, that exercising through it or practicing music with the local band, seems to work in easing my discomfort. Although I became an Octogenarian in February I still have many better than worse days for which I am very grateful as many of my friends and collogues have departed. Carpe Diem! Cheers, Rik Spector

Always a great day when I find a new Tom Burleigh video. Happy to hear you’re feeling better. Don’t know if you’ll have luck finding the answer to your tin question but there’s a channel from Florida called sreetips. He demonstrates techniques for refining metals. He seems quite willing to answer questions, no matter how small. I hope he’s made it thru the hurricane. I will never attempt to refine precious metals but I still enjoy his channel. In my case, it's multiple reasons... my back really doesn't like me digging; I prefer exploring to really concentrating on just one area; for a lot of my audience, the finds are secondary to the walk and the talk, I don't think I could talk about things in the same way digging them out of a hole. And yes, I'm a bit lazy. 🙂

This is the first time I've watched a video of yours.... the scenery and sounds are beautiful and the information you give on the found objects is amusing. Lucky I love Sir Anthony Hopkins' voice... for you talk like him in the style of Hannibal lecter .... spooky, seductive and surprisingly warming .... Keep up the good work !

Welcome to my channel, I hope you get a lot of enjoyment out of my past and future videos. I'm glad you approached the Hannibal lector comparison like that; some people have suggested I must be a serial killer; rather than somebody who can't stand their own usual conversational voice on recordings, so uses a softer version of it 🙂

Lovely video Tom, so sorry you've been poorly. I remember watching the Let's go with the Johnsons video with you in it. You're both awesome channels! If I may be so bold you could be the David Attenborough of mudlarking, your commentary reminds me of him! 😊😊

Thanks Leanne. I'm glad you enjoy the Johnsons' videos too, they're wonderful people. I do get that comparison mentioned fairly often, I don't mind it, except that it makes me daydream; that someone in a nature documentary production company will one day notice, and offer me a job 🙂

Thanks Annie. I think the stones are mostly to spread the river out, and stop it carving a channel through the concrete covered riverbed beneath the stones; there are some pipes laid there that I hadn't really thought as the possible reason before. I love the Johnsons too; I see bits of both of them in myself. 🙂

Hello Tom! Thank you for all of the good videos filled with calming adventures and treasure. I believe the quartz nodule that you found could be a small geode. I have found many similar shaped geodes in California and sometimes they are hollow, and sometimes they are like a thin cave with tiny crystals. Anyway, if you aren’t attached to it, it might be fun to break it open! Though I could be completely wrong…😂😮❤ All the best to you.

The only snake I've seen out on a mudlark so far, has been rubber. A shame, I quite like snakes and most of the ones I could possibly see here aren't very dangerous. The Adder is the only native poisonous snake, and it doesn't really like the sort of areas I'm going. 🙂
