Once I was at school waiting for the bus. It was at the end of the day and the buses come at 2:35. Same time school ended. Well everyone else's bus came except ours. It came at 4:00 pm. With no notification to the bus centre or school or parent emails. My mom was worried sick and called the school to see if everything was ok and she came and picked me up. Last year when I was in middle school, my bus came at least 35 minutes late, and it happened regularly. One time we had to go into the building after waiting for over 20 minutes in the pouring rain, and it took the bus another 30 minutes before it finally got there. I was also stranded when I had to be picked up in Houston Texas and alot of the teachers at three of my schools wouldn't report it ever since I was nine or ten. I didn't get home until 6:00 pm onetime. If I ever had any children, I would take them to school and pick them up from school myself rather if I worked or not. The drivers knew it was unacceptable behavior and the bus barn refused to fix the issue when my mom contacted them about it. So I had to start taking the city bus to school. This is why I yelled one of the school staff and my mom and I was grounded for it. There needs to be laws against this behavior because tardiness to school and curfew is unacceptable.

What about the Schools. Those Kids that come in late that took the bus but arrived after School has started. Some teachers dont care if the bus is Late to school and will Mark the Kid absent from Class. I Dont know about every Schools. But Schools I went to in past, We had some teachers like that if Bus is late and you end up getting dropped off late and happen to Miss a Class. You Got reported as Absent from Class and if you got 2 Class Absents Per School Year. At the Time You got 1 Weeks In School Suspension. If you got 3 Class Absents. thats 2 Weeks In School Suspension. And If you got 4 Class Absents per School year. You Get Suspended from School for 1 week. But After 5 Class Absents, You End up Failing that Class. As Being Late to School, Either driven by Parent or School Bus and it ends up you missing a Class or more. Its still a Class Absent that is NOT Approved by the School/ School Board. Only Way that it would be approved is if The Parent Calls in and says you are going to the Doctors or Other type of Appointment. then you would need to bring in A Doctors Note with Office Name, Phone Number, Address on it and the Doctors Name so the School can not only Call but to also Make sure that Doctor is Legit and not a Parent or Family- Friend type Note.

This report doesn’t say if this father had a car or not. How far they were from the school. It would help to see his position more clearly. About those buses. How much research went into this having buses in the first place. Did your transportation dept. do more than look at maps. Did they visit the neighborhoods. Not to know traffic conditions before hand seems unprepared. Were there any community meetings that everyone could have gone to, to be better informed and had a chance to ask questions. Your bus drivers should have visited the routes before the big day. Looking at a map is not enough. No one on either side had all the answers. While you may need to restrict on street parking during certain hours to allow the buses access, that’s an option everyone would have realized and understood on both sides if enough actual research had been done. Instead frustration and stress were experienced on both sides that could have been avoided. Where I’m from we had a mayor with a far seeing vision of what he wanted in a bus company. He sent people to the mainland to visit cities that had great bus systems. He shared with the public the time, the planning and the money it would take to develop an island wide transportation system that could reach all parts of the island. It took a few years of building facilities and buying buses, but he never gave up. An entirely separate transportation system was set up for our seniors and our disabled. He was criticized on occasion, but he believed in the idea of everyone having access to getting around. There were other life saving systems he up graded and expanded to help our out lying rural communities. Today we take for granted the improvements in the quality of our lives. But I remember how hard and how it takes to achieve a goal without the necessary planning. Planning gives you a better chance of success.
