I brought a Rivian R1T , a Ford F-150 Lightning and a Tesla Cybertruck to a supercharger to charge for the first time.
Rivian did really well with tons of information on the screen. Ford charged easily too but didn't have as much info!
Biggest issue was the location of the charge port makes it so there is one less space!

but you will get tons of extra service trips for annoying issue :). on a good side you won't need to change oil and other regular car services

@@arishem555 No oil changes, but expensive 20 or 21 inch tires wear out quickly, and expensive alloy wheels are easily scraped or rimmed. Also Tesla is more expensive to insure, and more expensive DMV registration too.

Super shocked that rivian didn't match the charge port location as Teslas. But as you mentioned Chris, the best short-term solution is Teslas charge as far left as possible (when looking at charging stalls), everyone else park as far right as possible so that all chargers can still be used 👍🏼

Adding an extension with Nacs/cccs adapter is not feasible, I would think it is best to add a few more parking on the opposite side of the supercharger wherever possible. Otherwise, this is going to be a major issue for all parties.

Ford has an update that that now shows Tesla superchargers, and I think it preconditions in the Ford navigation. Charging speed currently only shows on the FordPass app on your phone.

More revenue, possibly enabling building more supercharger locations. Could work out for them. I think that it also opened up federal grants to them, which weren't available to private networks.

Tesla's mission statement is not to make money for shareholders. Its to accelerate advent of sustainable transport.

Totally disagree, Tesla just became the defacto “gas station” for all EVs going forward. They are going to make ungodly amounts of money. The other companies are bound to move the charge port on new models (according to ford’s CEO)so this is a temporary problem.

The problem here is that this shouldn’t be on Tesla to open up more SCs more than they already are. The issue is the other legacy makers like Ford, Rivian, and Kia/Hyun and everyone else should have been making their own chargers. Rivian and Ford should make their own 250kwh chargers. Like thousands more. But nope. It’s gonna be interesting to see how this players out the next several years. Thankfully I charge from home but my issue will be the road trips in CA. Sigh

Keep in mind at most Tesla charging stations Ford and Rivian will not be able to use them as they are full of Teslas. They would actually have to wait for two spots to open next to each other. Also they announced only certain tesla stations will be open to Ford and I assume Rivian. That’s where they were stating for now

15,000 out of 21,000 chargers in USA/Canada will be accessible to Ford and RIvian guys. What will happen during busy holiday periods? Tesla owners will have to wait in long line at the chargers. Elon is sorry. Yeah right.

The adapter is out for Ford. They did state the extension will be coming soon so they could park normally at a Tesla charging station.

We just need more superchargers than superchargers with adapters, that way there is still an incentive to buy and use Teslas.

MB, BMW and VW also have the charging port on the rear passenger side. Will be really interesting to see how this play out

As a Tesla owner, I've been charged USD 0.31 per kWh in recent months, and that's the price that now typically shows for the superchargers in my state. Tesla is getting a higher price, or a monthly subscription for those wanting to avoid the higher price, from non Teslas charging at its superchargers. I suspect that the chargers that have been installed to facilitate those with trailers, will get used by non Tesla vehicles with ports different places. This port positioning, and the use of two stalls, could become the big thing with the transition, but hopefully will get sorted, before numbers charging get crazy in a year or two.

Tesla will only give supercharging miles and FSD for a few months but will never offer unlimited supercharging again.

Now Tesla drivers know how other EV drivers feel when a Tesla is charging at a free J plug charger, when they have their own chargers. Also when a Tesla charges at an Electrify America (in my state EA is cheaper than Tesla, as EA charges per minute vs. Per kW).

Then you will have the VW, Porsche, Mercedes Benz and other EV to charge at Tesla supercharger. Imagine how would that work and how many spots will be open?

Tesla owners welcome Ford and Rivian owners with open arms-- despite this headline. There are plenty of chargers for all of us, especially since Tesla is building superchargers out like crazy.

This is just a nightmare waiting to happen for road tripping, especially in the busy Southern California area, Chicago area, Dallas Fort-Worth area, and Atlanta area. Better build more superchargers. But wait, if all supercharges are being utilized during the busy holiday seasons, each stall output will be greatly reduced. It's already busy enough to wait behind a dozen Tesla's for a stall to open. Now you get to wait behind Ford, Rivian, BMW, VW, GM, Volvo, Polestar, Nissan, Honda, Jaguar, Hyundai, Kia, and Mercedes.

Yeah already hate it. I don’t look forward to sharing our stations at all with other brands. Especially when they take TWOOO spots. They should have implemented this with adapters PRIOR to opening them up that way they don’t take two spots. Just ridiculous.
