@@janck1000 I've recently been watching Carwow, and their reviews are 'fun' much like Throttle House. But, I've been pretty excited for the new Escalade, and after watching Carwow's review, I was quite put off. The numbers they posted seem way off for a lot of the road tests. And, while I understand it's an "english" channel, having to make quips about the size of American SUV's every minute got rather old. I am sure, I was quite critical of that specific video, but as I said I have been watching nearly every review of this particular vehicle since before it released and it was odd. That made me wonder how many of their other videos I was less critical of may fall into that category. 0-60 and 1/4 mile times way higher than should be, brake performance tests done very loosely (60-0 test clearly shows him doing 65 mph before he hits the brakes, immediately followed up by criticism on poor stopping performance for example). Just made me think, maybe there's some bias at play. Which, imo, professional reviews should not include for obvious reasons.

This is exactly the thing I am complaining about most electric cars. Why do they have to have 800+ hp and 800+ ft/lbs of torque, weight 2+ tons and cost an arm and a leg? There is no need for that. What I want from an ev car is 4 little 50-75 hp & 30-50 ft/lbs motors and a battery that will let me do 500+ km that can be bought at a regular price. That's what we all want. For example, most Tesla owners never owned a car that had above 200hp and all of a sudden, they get themselves into a car that is way above their driving skills if they accidentaly floored it. High hp/torque e-car is NOT the way to go. The Rivian could do it with half the hp and torque and 2000 lbs less.

Yeah it's a 7000lbs " light duty" street truck .. the suspension isn't designed for hauling heavy especially offroad but I mean with 800 hp and 900ftlbs of instant torque and all 4 wheels being individually driven it could probably outtow basically every 3/4 -1ton diesel power/traction wise , just the rest of the truck ain't gonna survive any real payloads / work and abuse
@Briggsian3 жыл бұрын

After having driven a tesla model 3 for about a week recently, I'm pretty pretty much sold on EVs and this R1T has been growing on me since it was launched. Would be a massive upgrade from the ol Ridgeline!
@FuncleChuck3 жыл бұрын
“Massive” ’is the right word. Ridgeline is 4500 pounds, and this thing is >7000.

@@FuncleChuck as long as it's got some good breaks we should be good to go! At least it's no 9000lbs like the hummer!

Just know that there will be limitations in the cold or if you plan to tow with it, which I would only do for short distances. EVs are best if they can do everything that you can normally do within 2/3 of it's stated range and then charge at home when not using it.

I absolutely love these reviews. It's informative, it's both objective AND subjective, which is actually a really nice thing, and it's got moments of hilarity. What else can you truly want.... Besides one of the vehicles you are reviewing? Oh, yeah, they tend to partner with Omaze or that.

This has all the makings of a proper usable, EV SUV which in my opinion is just great. Wait for a few years when the battery tech improves and costs are lower and it's gonna be just perfect. Hopefully, just because it's a new entrant in the market, it doesn't get ignored and also they have enough manufacturing plants to make it go. Otherwise, great truck

pretty much the only EV I would ever consider buying. Looks great, thoughtful features, and that color. I even bought a few shares of RIVN...

Really love the looks and performance of the Rivian. Kinda bummed that there aren't any physical knobs or buttons for HVAC or stereo, though. That's a big flaw, IMO.

This is one of the best videos on this truck so far. Hadn't considered that these smaller trucks would be rated at a 3/4 ton truck level due to weight. I wonder what it will do to that segment once battery range is improved for towing. Personally, I like the truck. No Apple CarPlay is almost a deal breaker, but aside from that the main concern is range for those who tow. Need at least 250-300 miles of range towing, or about a 2.5 hour drive towing 8,500 lbs.
@coleeto2 Жыл бұрын
The thing about towing, is most truck owners don’t do it. (Over 75% tow zero or one time per year). Until one of the battery breakthroughs in the lab reaches mass production, something like the Ram REx would likely be the best electrified solution to the niche that tows long distances often.

The more i watch these Rivian reviews, the more i love this truck. Too bad i cant afford one or will be able to for a while. But i would go for the SUV variant, much more practical for me. Brilliant car

I love almost everything about this, except for the towing. I'm sure it would be great for a business that needs to tow a trailer around town, but for me, towing a boat for a day trip, or a trailer for a weekend getaway, losing as much as half of the range (so down to 150-160 miles) when towing just isn't good enough. At least not unless the boat launch or campsite has a charging station. Otherwise, I love it, and would probably even consider one of these over a "camper van" with those accessories that you showed. It's much more useful for daily use than one of those.
@fpartidafpartida3 жыл бұрын
You mentioned a camp site as one of the options you’d stay at. Just get a site with a 50A outlet (used for RVs) and you can charge the truck there. I did that at Madeline island on a summer trip. Worked perfectly for my Audi SUV. I actually plan to keep doing that for my mountain bike trips to Colorado once I take delivery of my Rivian R1S LE.

As for "wheres the weight" it's from the truck's heavy (pun intended) use of steel to reduce costs. It may seem expensive compared to the other EV trucks but that's missing the big picture; Land Rovers. These are shockingly fantastic value for what they are, to the point where a comment by an ex-marketing manager at Rivian was that they should be priced higher.
