Here to report on my new UFX III which totally smokes my old Apollo x6 for conversion. Like holy cow, WHAT A DIFFERENCE! So pristine. Amazing sound stage. Mastering quality. Feels good to be back in the RME realm -- original UFX and BFP user prior to getting the Apollo. Thanks for making killer products with outstanding support!

I had my UFX II for a few weeks but can't be more happy with a purchase. It will be heart of my studio in the future (now it is overkill for my bedroom studio). I suggest series that you use your built-in compressor, reverbs for interesting recording effects or just creative ideas/functions that we users don't notice, tips&tricks kinda... All good to you RME team!

very nice, congratz! I would like to see complete workflow of artist bringing own computer into such studio setup and quickly getting to recording/mixing, since RME TotalMix loads up automatically from within stored config, but also snapshots and workspaces can be saved/loaded, idea of having computer-less studio and let people bring their own definitely is a future, I can imagine having a thunderbolt dock with all the studio gear connected (audio interface, display, controllers, network etc...), just plug one cable into a silent laptop and you're done, no hassle with DAW/plugins compatibility and Gigs of project transfers....

I really wish to see ufx + effects, can we use ufx+ effects in a daw in vst format or are they only total fx built-in effects ? can we do automations or modulations synchronized to bpm with ufx+ built-in effects ?

I should start by saying I’m a musician, not an engineer or producer but I am constantly amazed with the power and practicality of my UCX II. I use the onboard effects during rehearsals to provide reverb/delay for vocals. DURec then allows me to easily record those rehearsals on location without any computer present. At home, my UCX II is the centerpiece of my studio. At this point, it’s uses have far exceeded the initial intent behind my purchase. Don’t let proprietary plug-ins or thunderbolt compatibility lock you into competing products. RME is where you come for quality manufactured hardware and quality written software. And for US customers who get into a jam, Jeff or Ryan at Synthax are just a phone call away!

I love my UCX II. I use it for music production in the box with external synths, djing, recording/streaming. It just works and thats a good thing. DigiCheck and TotalMix are super good!

the thunderbold chipset from intel is not available anymore. so future interface comes with usb 3 - i was waiting for ufx+ since 2 years to be available... may in 2023 ???

Can you show how to set up DC coupled output on RME UFX II, do we have to create Mono channels in Total mix even though in the DAW we can see mono and stereo channels and when routed through DAW (bitwig, cubase) it does not seem to work well

I'm just soo glad that I finally got hold of an RME Digiface. Hopefully the chip shortages will calm down eventually. I'm still rocking my RayDAT in a PCIe enclosure after moving to M1 Pro but it's too noisy so going to the Digiface USB. Don't let me down legendary RME USB drivers :D What I'd really like to see is the team behind RME's legendary drivers. Pre-amp schmree-amp, i'm in it for the drivers. Would love to know the details of how they were made and why no one else seems to bother putting that much effort into them.

@@kicksNCY Personally that is my favourite thing about ADAT. It's isolated from the power, meaning the signal is always clean. Electricity in my home is tragic but going ADAT in to the card, and ADAT out again means no noise! I don't think I'd ever go back for that reason.

You guys are so adorably German. It would be nice to see you guys playing with a lot of outboard gear and using a summing box for a final mixdown. I've got the MADI FX card as my "brain", but my studio is very much a hybrid. Lots of synths, mic preamps and DI boxes but I arrange everything in the DAW. Mixing is a combination of in and out of the box as well. I've been experimenting with using Totalmix without the DAW for some hardware jams (just for fun), which has been made a lot easier by the ARC USB. I'm really just looking forward to seeing what ideas and configurations you come up with. Oh and please allow a group on the master fader sometime soon, I'd really like to get into ATMOS mixing, but right now I still can't have more than a stereo pair as my master fader on Totalmix.

check out ethan weiner and Dan Warrel regarding alanogue summing. There is no results based reason to use analogue summing that physics or null testing can support. Curious if I am inssing something here.

@@GingerDrums yeah, I'm well aware that there isn't really a material benefit. I'm honest with myself about gear being part of the hobby. It's just a different way of interfacing with a mix, and I like twisting dials and pressing buttons.

I love my RME UFX+ and Micstasy. I started with the UFX, and am happy i upgraded because the pres are superior. Micstasys get more use than my Millennias. I would love to see how you implement Atmos with the UFX+.

Hey Adrian, I just got the UFX iii and it started up ok. I connected to my compute and drum machines and all was working pretty normal. I switched it to Standalone mode and was able to get it to work but the metering on the front panel stopped registering. Bottom line is TotallMix doesn’t appear to be working with the device like it started out. Something ain’t normal with how it is behaving. I’m about to give up on it. I spent this whole day trying to get it back to normal but I’m not sure if this is a defect or not. Please advise.

My issue is that hardware delay is different between different devices across different inputs. How can I set up my DAW (ableton live) so that all tracks are synchronized even when I'm taking tracks in from MADI, AES, ANALOG, ADAT on my UFX+?

That’s a really loaded question. But we‘ll get to that!

@@RMEAudio I recognize that each external device that I'm using may have different latency due to conversion and transcoding from internal digital to the transfer signal type. The latencies are obviously very very small. There is a setting called "hardware delay compensation" in ableton (and pro tools), but it seems to be system wide and doesn't seem to apply to groups of tracks. So when I'm tracking 30 tracks across the different devices connected to the UFX+, the groups of tracks coming from different sources on the RME will be a few samples out of sync from each other. I also recognize that this isn't an RME problem, it is just a general problem, but I'm hoping there is a solution with my RME setup. BTW, I love the UFX+. I don't think I've used anything better.

this looks promising...would like to see way more videos with hybrid work flow...also as someone else already commented we want to know what is the plan for the ufx+...if you guys plan to drop TB support, USB3 better be up to the job of handling high channel counts...i'm running a ferrofish a32 pro and pulse 16 mx with plans to add another 32 pro down the line....if my UFX+ ever dies on me I need to be able to buy a suitable replacement that can handle the same amount of I\O

the MADI FX PCIe card is an excellent choice if you're using a lot of MADI I/O. I've got two Ferrofish units, an ADI 648 and an Antelope Orion 32+ on mine and it's flawless.

Very cool idea and an interesting setup. I use a Fireface 802 + ARC and a Ferrofish Pulse (the M32 is a little bit over my price range) I'm one of these guys "who like to use a lot of outboard gear' so I'm interested in how other artists implement the analog gear with their RME devices. But think it's also interesting to see others guys workflow in general.

Hi. Been waiting over a year for the babyface to come back into stock. I really don’t want to move to an alternative but I’m not sure how much longer I can wait. Thomann says it’s no longer produced and Musicstore Germany says middle of December but this date has changed several times over the past 6 months. Any update regarding stock?

That's just not how it works at the moment. You just have to place the order before the goods are in stock. The interfaces are always sold out immediately and then there is a new delivery date. I did the same last year and got my UFX+...

That's great... ...Ummm head's up, installing my new Babyface Pro FS on Mac last weekend was a pain in the @$$ due to firmware & Driver alignment issues, rollbacks, etc. It'd be nice if you designed a solution which checks versions & installs the proper software for us... this kind of central software management could aid in multiple RME device systems.
