The PDR on the back of the cab turned out better than I thought it would on that aluminum body. I could totally live with that repair. Plus with the bed on nobody would ever notice.

Dave, You definitely know more about working on trucks than I do but I have to tell you that when connecting a vehicle battery you always connect the positive first and the negative last. When disconnecting always disconnect the negative first etc

Dave the F350 is coming along real nice! It sounds amazing! Burns off pretty darn good too! A few days work will have the body better than OEM! Hopefully getting all the wiring plugged in will take away the wiring gremlins! Already looking forward to the next video!

Whenever you disconnect battery cables, Negative is off first, and Negative is on last so you don't short out the Positive by possibly hitting something that is grounded.

Maybe cut some plywood wedges for the battery to lock it for when you're getting on the "GO" pedal. the intake clear cover doesn't look like it seals very good.
@Garth2011
@Garth2011 5 жыл бұрын
Good idea for the intake, sad they didn't simply provide a longer + cable vs. the extension method, another connection is another source for issues. The battery box can be squared up with "spacers" made of wood or aluminum that can sit along one long side and one short side of the battery to keep it in position. Likely it's time for a wheel alignment, transmission/transfer case oil change and a windshield. The condition of the old air filter and the engine oil says much about the past maintenance of this truck. Plan on nothing had been serviced in those first 71,000 miles on it and don't forget to replace those two fuel filters with "Ford" brand filters including draining any water via the petcock. Oil changes and fuel filters are key to Ford diesel longevity. Try the muffler out and see how it runs/sounds with it on, you may decide its worth using, most folks would. Oh, and an A/C evac and recharge too. Also, don't forget you can take the truck over to the Ford dealership and ask them for a print out of all the service/maintenance done by any Ford dealership for your records, if you care about that. This way you can go forward without not knowing about the past. They should do that for you as a service.

Congrats on getting her running! I'm not a mechanic but I've always heard the phrase "higher performance means higher maintenance". With that said, I'd suggest moderation with the use of custom engine tunning.
@calebrozeboom
@calebrozeboom 5 жыл бұрын
He has tuning
@einfelder8262
@einfelder8262 5 жыл бұрын
Why? Factory tunes are designed to satisfy environment regulations, ie no power when you put the foot down. I know of several vehicles that ran excessively lean on the factory tune for enviro reasons, and caused many engine failures because of it. The dealer said it wouldn't have happened if it had been custom tuned to run richer. Custom tunes can get the best out of the available hardware without higher maintenance. Having said that, a bad custom tune can blow any engine, as can a bad factory tune.

Enjoying the re-build as always. While it seems obvious that you intend to keep this truck, which is what I'd do with it also, it makes me wonder about resale. What are the realities of buying a totaled vehicle and repairing it for resale? Does the salvage title void all manufactures warranties, etc? Even with that as the major issue, the truck should be worth at least 50% of a non-salvage truck of the same mileage and condition. It would be to me at least. Maybe you could explain to us less experienced people the what, where, why and how's of buying a vehicle in the manner you did and getting a nice daily driver as well.
