Love these last 2 fit videos with riders that are “crooked”. Struggled for years. Pain, tears, stagnated performance, sores, pelvic tilt, back pain, even a bit of disability. Narrow stance, arch support, cleats back, 7mm shim on left. Finding incredible power and symmetry ive never experienced. Still out of shape, but moving forward finally.

which type of back pain did u have? one sided? and hip pain too? Im in the same problem and dont know what to do moore. My right leg feel totally asymetrical and left one is totally ok. And have right hip pain :) it would be perfect if you could answer me here.

@@joelsoto1849 similar experience, in the end i just had my saddle slightly too high. I was dropping my hip to compensate.
@joelsoto1849 Жыл бұрын
@@abedfo88 great to hear. I spent a long time in pain. One side turned off, and the compensation got extreme. Even when i appeared symmetrical, strength was so poor on 1 side, foot would wiggle on climbs, resulting in body heavily lean on other. More pain. Months of work off bike and shimming, and short rides. Finally have strength bilaterally.
@abedfo88 Жыл бұрын
@Joel Soto great news for you also. Luckily I had practically last year off due to having a baby so my cycling muscles kind had time to rest. In the end to figure out it was my saddle height I kept a journal of incremental changes and their effect. I've also done some of the bike work stretching etc.

I have had bike fits in the past. But they never accounted for my asymmetry stemming from a slight leg length difference stating the difference is in the normal range. However, I know that I drop my left hip, my left knee almost touches the top tube and I always have saddle discomfort on the left. If Neill wasn't literally on the other side of the globe, I'd certainly book a session with him.
@yannickokpara4861 Жыл бұрын
Same... I also walk with the difference in knee angle/leg length. It's the main reason I don't enjoy running, because it feels totally off. My left leg has really strong plantarflexion due to the shorter leg while my right leg has weak plantarflexion(shows on the bike too), so running uphill my right leg is like a noodle while it takes the brunt in other scenarios.
@ploughmyfield Жыл бұрын
Bloody amazing, 1 hour to fix. 20 years experience to working out what to fix. If I won the lottery the first thing I'd do would be to book my flight from the UK! I've got one leg at least 10mm longer than the other.

I would love to see a long term evaluation, from initial fit to a season later. How long ago did you switch Cam from 172.5 to 165 cranks - I would like to see where he is now on the bike if he’s not as restricted at the hip. This case is another interesting one because of all of the asymmetry. Over the next season or two we could see if skeletal alignment changes muscle development.

I am having major issues at the moment with having to constantly adjust on the saddle like my butt is walking around the surface, I was a seasoned cyclist, 8000+ miles per year for a decade and never had any notable issues but took just over a year off and have just come back and it is obvious something is really off. I had my leg length checked and the right is shorter by about 9mm as the crow flies, also feeling like I am twisted so the my right sit bone is sitting forward. Just going through the motion to see what works, have some shims coming later today. Bike fit is a obvious option but locally they are booked up for weeks, hopefully I can get close before a pro looks at me and then get back to being able to get my hours and mileage up. Looking back it was also why I would love to trail run but hated running on the road, off road you are never on a flat surface and it confirms why I was getting left leg pain on tarmac. Sadly I am finding this out at middle age!!!!...

Which method(s) do you recommend to validate id there is a leg length discrepancy? Other than taking a radiography. My friends case, I believe one leg is shorter since when laying down on the back knees bent, just alike the Girl in the video there is a drop, and a scoliosis as well. But on the bike it's impossible to gauge anything wrong. Also when laying down, both legs extended... Both legs look now the same size.

As a long time user of the Sq-Lab saddle I've now swapped to a SMP due to my soft tissue never having gotten properly used to the very localised pressure distribution of the SQ-lab design. Great job, nice to look. Have a question: why arch is so important? Why it needs to be with preasure? I always thinking about foot like a bride, it works like that isnt it? @ShadowzKiller Жыл бұрын
The 7mm probably refers to the shim stack height. I imagine that the saddle is 150 because the previous one is 143 and thus not wide enough.

Question to Neill. After a series of your videos, I purchased the G8 insoles and can't seem to adjust it. Any advice would be very helpful. Thank you.

The tires need to be re-inflated every 4-5 days, but this appears to be quite common for the narrow 700x25 tires.Overall, in my opinion, this bike looks and rides like a much more expensive bike.

A lateral pelvic tilt will present these exact symptoms without there being any physical asymetries in the body. Strengthening the right glute max and left adductor will actually square the pelvis, even out the arches. the leg length shim is suddenly no longer necessary. The shim will act as a crutch and not allow the body to learn to function in the correct muscle pattern. Also the stem is too long.
