It's nice when these types of sketches sneak into the end of episodes. Four minutes of increasing levels of crude gibberish, delivered with such commitment - perfect for the final moments of the show. Andrew's deliveries find the most laughs in the most unhinged dialogue. Pete seemed to really enjoy that sketch too.

@Igaveyoumyfakename
@Igaveyoumyfakename 8 ай бұрын
They are not advertising anything. There are no conversations with marketing. Celebrity liquor brands are just stupid and funny. End of story. There is no secret plot to advertise certain ones for free. (That would be completely counter to why NBC exists in the first place.) The writers can pretty much mention anything they want if it's parody, and it's protected under free speech.
@Igaveyoumyfakename
@Igaveyoumyfakename 8 ай бұрын
It's not that they cannot ask. They simply don't need to ask.
@b-dub6865
@b-dub6865 8 ай бұрын
@@Igaveyoumyfakename That’s not necessarily true. You’re right - when SNL does a product placement parody, they don’t need to ask permission if they meet the legal requirements. I never said they did. Over 5yrs ago, SNL cut down on commercials & started collaborating with advertisers to mix their brand into sketches - aka., sponsored content. In this case, it’s not about needing permission. It’s about how SNL’s sponsors buy the power to control how they’re made fun of, which they do. However, product placement has become extremely popular & good for business, giving SNL even more control over their sketches & jokes.

If this was the best, then I'm pretty glad I haven't watched any of the others. Andrew was straight garbage here, I don't get the praise everyone's giving him. I think that was the point of this episode. And I blame Pete not getting more screentime on the fact that Aidy Bryant, Cecily Strong, and Kate McKinnon pretty much hogged the spotlight and SNL focused more on the female performers than the male ones. It's not as bad now, but there are other issues, including the long-standing issue of whether or not the show is still funny after nearly 50 years on the air (you read that right. Nearly 50). Personally, I say yes. It might not be consistent, but, unlike The Simpsons (also a long-running comedy), I remember that SNL still exists and at least try not to skip episodes, even if they're not all that great.
