Not a horrible idea. I've been waiting on someone to do it. Dude, you got to make it legit! Brushless motor, better steering! Then fully tune it. Great job. I think you have one of the more underrated channels.
@RoadsideRC10 ай бұрын
Thank you! Not sure if I really want to devote that much time and $$ to a full, all-out build. But maybe! It would be a lot better with a more powerful motor and ESC. Even what is in there is still not enough. A proper gyro and controller would then be the next step. Modifying the steering would be a big task - but the design is simple enough that I think it could be done. I'll watch to see what the reaction is. I am also hoping to test it around my local track this weekend.

@@RoadsideRC did you get to shave off those limiting nubs or whatever they call them in the steering? I didn’t catch that part. Maybe by doing that and maybe a longer servo horn you can get more steering throw. I’m tellin you, that COE is badass from the factory but you instantly took it to a new level of badassery 😂 . Those sleeves over the tires. I love how they are not black. Like you can actually make them in different colors. Reminds me of when BF Goodrich came out with colored stripes on their tires 🛞 when you did burnouts the smoke was whatever color your band was. Of course their production was for a very limited time because gangs started using them to mark territory’s and stuff. Bad people ruin all the good stuff for good people

Freaking sweet! It's a great proof of concept, but probably aren't going to be able to use the 3d printed wheel covers at an actual drift track. Wondering if there some way to make it so that actual drift tires can be used?
@RoadsideRC10 ай бұрын
Since we changed our local surface to concrete, the tires will be fine. You are correct that I would be more concerned if it was carpet. The tires on this truck are HUGE. Any standard drift tire would be WAY too small. I don't know of any that are this big.
@TestECull10 ай бұрын
@@RoadsideRC It looks like standard 1.7 Tamiya semi truck rims with shorter profile tires on them? Don't have one in my hand though so I don't know for sure.

Pretty neat! Maybe one day, given we're somewhat local to one another, I can come by with one of my rigs and we can get that set up to do some sideways action.
@RoadsideRC10 ай бұрын
Depends on the vehicle!
@TestECull10 ай бұрын
@@RoadsideRC Probably be either my WR8 or my SC10GT since both of them want to be sideways anyway and having a drift gyro working on them will make them much easier to control. Especially the SC10GT. Get that thing on any surface but tarmac/concrete and it's constantly spinning its rear wheels.

nice vid and if u want to get more steering out of it u would need to swap out the front axle or knuckles to a style that captures the axle and not the knuckle captured by the axle as it is something i did a few yrs ago to get my Tamiya Scania R620 to b a Drift truck but i didnt use any hard plastic covers over the tires n the rear but i just packed the diffs with some heavy auto/truck wheel bearing Grease. there is a vid floating around here on YT somewhere of it Drifting at Lunar's old Drift layout i had to do the same thing ran the truck on 3s too
@RoadsideRC10 ай бұрын
Agree - I think a lot more work would need to be done to the steering. Not sure it is worth the whole redesign.
@MadScientistDel10 ай бұрын
@RoadsideRC I don't think it would really need a full redesign but a change of the knuckles would really b all

Do you happen to have a trx6 g63 or SCX 6? I love that hauler body but 2wd street truck is useless to me where i live and play. Those are the 2 vehicles i have that i could use as donor chassis to get that beautiful body on a rig i can actually enjoy more than just staring at it on a shelf.

Hi there. Unfortunately, I do not have either of those vehicles. This body is MUCH bigger than a TRX6. You may have a chance with an SCX6, but I am guessing it will look really odd.
