Heh, my wife acts in a similar fashion. I used to hate cars. Now two years later, I love working on mine. Ya, I'm a DIYer. But I do the shit right. Wife says her father ruined me. As he got me into cars. Now I refuse to allow anyone else to work on my vehicles. I do the research, buy the shop manuals, and do all the repairs myself. Gonna be working on an engine rebuild this summer. Already bought the full kit. Just need a few tools, primarily being a really good Torque wrench, Angle torque gauge, and harmonic balancer pulley kit, plus head bolts, assembly lube, and I think that's it. Why the hell my full rebuild kit didn't come with replacement head bolts is beyond me. Oh and enough time off work! (Thank god I'm self employed.)

Hey Ernest fellow mobile mechanic here. This winter I have been using propane tank heaters. Just a single use one I have been using keeps me warm while working. It was 30 degrees where I live today and I was actually sweating while I was working on the vehicle because of how well it works! Cheap too I strongly recommend checking it out it was a game changer. Also fantastic job getting it started! Excited to see where this projects leads!

Nice job on fixing this engine. The 6.0L is plenty powerful, efficient and reliable when maintained properly. The problems come when owners try and tune or modify the emissions controls on them. The oil cooler is the weak link on these even more than the EGR cooler is.

Ahh, so it was a blown injector seal. I'm glad it was on the driver side. I hope you torqued the injectors to 24 ft. lb. to achieve the proper crush pattern on the copper sealing washers. If not, you can get combustion in your fuel system and the injectors can get damaged.

A home made DIY or commercial Smoke Machine would come in handy in these situations. OTC makes a nice one, DIY is easy and way cheaper. The only drawback of DIY it usually uses a heat source (soldering iron) and testing systems like EVAP must be ignition proof. Other systems (intake/exhaust/cooling) are great, though. Paint can, soldering iron, sock, baby oil, aquarium air pump & tubing, $25. Many plans on YT.

you should have change the nipple cup seals on the oil rail that will be the next thing to fail, also if you take long road trips make sure you have a spare icp snsr, ipr valve, & bottle of gear oil for the engine oil if you have a hp leak it will get you home.

Interconnected pressurized components in a system- of O-rings, hoses, seals & gaskets are all same age. If only one (1) is replaced, the newly added pressure (plugged leak) usually results in a "cascade failure" of the others. Example: Years ago, my PS Pump leaked. Replaced. Dripping Rack & pinion became a squirter. 30 yr old PS cooler failed. All replaced, new system. That's main reason brakes are an "axle set" and not just one wheel or shoe/pad. Never replace just 1 of anything like that.
